Telephoned first as read on this site about waterlogged site.

Coopers confirmed ground very wet and until very recently had no driving on grass.

Assured van would be ok, quoted £14 a night for van, awning, dog and 2 people.

On arrival, told it was £30 for the 2 nights. No probs for £2 but others here tell similar, so just be aware.

Now I first started using Coopers 14 years ago and apart from the Cafe it seems unchanged. This can go either way. As in unspoilt, which it isn't with buildings, play areas etc etc

But it still has the toilets/ shower block cob webs of 14 years ago and needs a touch of paint and some TLC.

Facilities are basic, all that's needed for walking.

Not a place I'd choose for 7 days summer holiday with kids clearly, but R&R it is.

20p for a hot shower is plenty to wash hair etc.

Waste disposal plentiful.

Camping fields plentiful, however is slightly slanted on pitch.

Cafe good if not pricey.

Shop same, but you can drive the few miles to save a few pence. It's handy!

Always found toilet paper, that said we did stay Mon & Tuesday night.

Nags Head both nights for dinner was good. Nags Double Burger. Mmmmmmmmmm

Again, pricey but it's your choice to cook or eat out.

Good pub.

We will return to Coopers, no issue with noise etc.

Great views and handy for Kinder.

We used to use Fieldhead. But issues with parking, rising cost, poor toilets & showers, staff attitude have forced a return to Coopers. Be it tent or van. Choose Coopers.

I stayed on Thursday evening at this campsite. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It's a bit on the basic side but if want somewhere close to excellent walking and a good pub with food then this could be for you.

I did think at £8 it was a bit steep for myself with one tent but it was ok.

The pub is a very short walk from the site, however only tried the beer which was good.

I could not get a phone signal, however these is a phone box at the entrance.

It is a working farm.

Just returned from a fantastic camping weekend. (basic) very clean and peaceful beautiful surroundings.

Close to pubs, great lunches served I would recommend the Fish and Chips at the Rambler Inn (great folk music playing). Free wifi available which was good to update status on facebook as no signal on mobile.

(bliss) Coopers cafe open 7 days per week and another near the train station. Loads of walks to be explored.

The Owners are very friendly and explained that at present due to all the rain unable to drive on the grass but when we went Aug 2010 driving on the grass was not a problem.

The showers were lovely and warm and great time for 20p. Would return time and time again a perfect getaway location.

Have just returned from a stay here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The area and walking around here are fantastic and the site is in a great position.

There are two pubs within walking distance, both of which are fine. There are also a selection of cafes but we didn't visit them all. The campsite has it's own cafe which opens for breakfasts and they are delicious!

The site is definitely not for 'glampers' but is not as bad as some of the previous reviews. The toilets and showers could do with updating but were clean and adequate.

Both fields are on a slope which can prove a problem for larger tents. You are not allowed to drive onto the fields, which is ok if you camp at the edge of the field, where the cars are allowed to park, but you might have to carry your things quite a way if you don't. Having all the cars parked in a line along the edge of the fields does make it look a bit like a car park but this is a minor point.

I would return to this site and will definitely be going back to this area, it is stunning.

This campsite is in beautiful surroundings and walks are right on your doorstep - particularly Kinder Scout which is a short route up Grindsbrook.

However I found this campsite too noisy for my liking - large groups of people being noisy late into the night. I realise that everyone has a right to let their hair down whilst on holiday but personally I prefer a quieter camp site.

The toilets/showers leave a lot to be desired. They are in desperate need of an update.

A nice breakfast was served in the on-site cafe which is very handy if you don't like taking all the cooking paraphernalia with you.

We stayed in March which was obviously cold but worth the short break! We come here lots - nice and quiet, great walks and views and pubs (nothing else to do but that's the point of coming!)

It has everything you should need as a camper - clean and well-lit showers/toilets and the luxury of a hairdryer! Also a decent small shop and cafe if you're desperate.

The Nags Head does lovely food and is nice and warm after a cold walk and right next door.

There is a pay phone if you've not got signal (so bring 20ps as you'll need them for the shower too and I think 10p for the hairdryer).

You'll possibly need loo roll in peak times, 20ps and 10ps, the owners are really lovely and they do all the maintenance themselves (including the Farmer cleaning the ladies but has to be done!).

Great value for money for getting away for a bit

This camp-site is on the basic end of basic, and when reading the reviews I began to think about not visiting.

Well, I was glad I didn't listen and did visit. The location is just superb, near a pub (which I didn't visit) a shop, a railway station and a small grocery shop and post office, we seems to be sporadically open and closed.

The showers cost 20p for 5 minutes, and although I didn't try these my children did and gave me no complaints. The temperature is adjusted on the shower head for anyone who has not worked it out. The room is not heated and is very basic, but seemed clean and tidy whilst we stayed.

The site itself was in very good condition, with no ruts in the grass and a gravelled access road. In spite of the wet weather and the owner followed us to our pitch and put down plastic boards to prevent us getting stuck.

All in all I would recommend this site to anyone visiting the area, and we shall hopefully be returning again in the next few months.

A 'proper' campsite if you are more interested in being out and about rather than sitting outside your tent all the time!

Toilets and showers were plentiful, although basic they were clean and in working order. There was toilet paper everytime I went in the ladies. We visited on a very sunny weekend in March- can't vouch for what it's like in the height of the season but I always take loo paper anyway.

The water was hot throughout the weekend.

Basic pot washing facilities.

No specific amenities for children which suits us fine!

Very reasonable charges to camp.

The Old Nags Head pub (next to the camp site) was disappointing with regard to food. We took the 10 minute walk to The Ramblers and were delighted to find that the dog was welcome in non-carpeted area. Food and beer were excellent.

We will definitely be returning although if you're expecting gleaming tiled amenities with an attendant, a laundry with dryers and a full playground for the kids please go somewhere else.

I havnt been to this site since the end of last year and if I hadnt been before and I was to be lead by some of the reviews on here I wouldn't be going at all however I have been before on many occasions and been more than happy with what I've found there for the location and the price.

This cracking site in the centre of Edale is not a Center parcs holiday village it is not a Haven Holidays site it is a working farm with basic but very adequate facilities.

Yes the floor of the toilet block is concrete, no there isnt soap and towels next to each sink.

Ok so there is mould between the tiles of the showers.

Ok so occasionally there have been problems with hot water (it gets bloody cold in Edale sometimes and water freezes)

Remember where this site is, its in one of the most beautiful parts of the country and is used primarily by walkers who need only to have somewhere safe to pitch their tent and washing facilities. If you are going to take your family to this site just take note of whats here and whats not and make the most of it.

Dont complain that there isnt a playground or that the toilets wont get into House and Home. Just accept the place for what it is, a basic site for tents and a few caravans or campervans set in stunning surroundings.

Ok this review is a bit soap boxish but it annoys me that some will criticize a site just because they don't bother to learn anything about it before they go. ' we wont be back there ' is a personal choice it should not be a reason for others not to go.

Having been unable to get onto Fieldhead campsite we gave this one a go.

Facilities

Cafe is good

Shop is basic but functional

Toilets were a major letdown, had to use the local pub instead.

Great location let down by toilets/washing up area.

Both the pubs should be avoided on the food front.

The food in both is expensive but woeful, frozen rubbish deep fried.

Conclusion

Some investment on those toilet facilities and if the two pubs could try and turn out some fresh tasty food to validate the high end prices.
