We camped at Coopers during the Edale Cider & Beer Festival and found it to be a lovely site.
We were told that there was no need to book except at Bank Holidays, we also had no difficulty finding a suitable pitch. Pitches are sloping, on smooth well-kept grass.
Views from all the fields are magnificent, but it's a very friendly and quiet place and would be ideal for a walking or a cycling holiday. We obtained OS maps and pre-designed route maps of surrounding Edale walks and hills / kinder scout etc from nearby info centre just yards down the road, we covered 26 miles in 8 day stay on hard walks / climbs, only getting lost once, I would recommend a compass as some routes are not so clear and not way-marked, we then enjoyed the very nearby pub - Nags Head full of character and friendly staff as was the camp site. This is a working farm. Odd tractor etc. Lots of sheep.
Costs are very reasonable: we were charged £13 per night for 2 adults and a tent, we enjoyed ourselves so much we extended our stay from 5 nights to 8 nights. Farmer is friendly if you behave and don't burn his grass with low down BBQ's. (3 feet).
The toilet block has plenty of capacity. It's in one corner of the site, so you may want to pick your pitch if you don't want to be too far away - it's quite a trek to the opposite corner of the site! flip flops are useful or wet feet by the time you walk back to tent early on a morning.
There are hot water washing-up sinks behind the toilet block, and cold water sinks elsewhere around the site. Everything is kept clean and hygienic; bins are emptied often, the sinks have plugs and the loos are kept well supplied with paper - both indicators of a well-run site!
There's a shop / PO and a very nice cafe on site, and two rambler-friendly pubs nearby. There's also another cafe near the station. The shop will re-freeze your freezer blocks for a small fee.
Money can be withdrawn from on site post office shop card machine if your bank permits that sort of thing. Lloyds do. Everywhere takes cards anyhow.
Definitely going back again. Highly recommended. Great for serious walkers / runners / families too.

Stopped here for a second time. First time was back in 2009. Not a lot has changed. Same basic facilities which were clean and tidy.
Showers were clean and plenty of hot water even with the site being full all for 20p.
Site cost £6. 50 per night with no advanced booking available.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Definitely will be coming back.
Advice - turn up early on a Friday if it forecast good weather as it soon fills up !

This is a proper camp site, not to be confused with a holiday camp. The fields are good. The toilet block is good -the walls are painted breeze block, floors, including shower floors, are concrete. There are 5 or 6 sinks, cubicles and showers. Plenty of hot water and lots of washing up sinks. I wouldn't want to have the owners round for dinner but they did everything that they needed to. It is of a similar standard to other good sites used mainly for outdoor activities. The shop and cafe are a bonus. Brilliant location for walking.

We stayed at this site for a couple of nights over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend. I phoned on the Saturday morning to check availability and was happy to be told that there was. We arrived just before lunchtime and were given a warm welcome from the owners who showed us which field we could pitch in but we could pick exactly where ourselves. The site was busy when we got there but as the weekend progressed more and more tents arrived and the field did start to feel a bit claustrophobic. This put pressure on the facilities with long queues at the pot wash and constant running out of toilet roll.
There is no dedicated children's play area but there is plenty of open space for them to run around in.
As has been mentioned before the views are stunning and the facilities are basic but clean. We had a wonderful time here and I would return but probably when it is a bit quieter.

Just returned again here with a mate, this time in tents.
No real change since last summer.
Same toilets etc
No winter revamp! Lol
But. Same beautiful views etc
This is a walkers site and basic is functional so no issues
Washing up hot water frozen as was the field drinking water pipe. But hey that's nature.
Bins plentiful and so was loo paper.
We will be back
£7 per tent with 1 adult.

Visited this campsite last weekend after choosing not to say at the other one down the road, reviews were similar so thought we'd give this one a go. We turned up and chose our own pitch (we were assured there was no need to pre-book), in the top field under the trees. The price was a bargain - £12 a night for 2 adults and no added cost for larger tents which other sites in the area do. Cars were parked close by although not right next to the tent due to the ground being wet, certainly not a problem and closer by than other sites.
We left a £5 noise deposit at the reception (what a great idea!) but the site was quiet anyway, think the howling wind made sure everyone was tucked up a decent time! Everything is well kept - basic but clean and well stocked which certainly keeps us happy when we're camping.
The showers are piping hot and powerful, 20p is plenty for a good shower with hair wash ladies! The site is an excellent base for walking, can thoroughly recommend the Grindsbrook skyline and back down Chapelgate for a whole day with stunning views, never before have I stood in awe at rock formations! A good half day walk is back up Chapelgate and along the ridge to Mam Tor and the valley back to the site.
The owners were more than happy to let owners leave cars on site and head off walking (at no extra charge) when packed up. We all felt that this site provided good value for money, no hidden charges, helpful owners and we'll certainly be back. My brother camped with his 3 kids on the same weekend and they all loved it - we'd all definitely stay again.

We camped at Coopers during the Edale Spooncarving Festival (Spoonfest) and found it a lovely site. Not only are the views from all the fields quite magnificent, but it's a very friendly and quiet place and would be ideal for a family walking or cycling holiday.
Costs are very reasonable: we were charged £24 for 2 adults and a tent for two nights in high season.
The toilet block has plenty of capacity. It's in one corner of the site, so you may want to pick your pitch if you don't want to be too far away - it's quite a trek to the opposite corner of the site!
There are hot water washing-up sinks behind the toilet block, and cold water sinks elsewhere around the site. Everything is kept clean and hygienic; the sinks have plugs and the loos are kept well supplied with paper - both indicators of a well-run site!
We were told that there was no need to book except at Bank Holidays, and sure enough at 5pm on an August Friday afternoon we had no difficulty finding a suitable pitch. Pitches are sloping, on smooth well-kept grass.
There's a shop and a very nice cafe on site, and two rambler-friendly pubs nearby. There's also another cafe near the station. The shop will re-freeze your freezer blocks for a small fee.
We'll be going back again. Highly recommended.

Stayed for one night but had a great night, really close to kinder scout which we climbed then dinner in the nags head which was a lovely meal.
Tents nicely spread out and has a toilet block which has showers in (20p for a shower) toilets however were clean.
Basic holiday camp but just what we wanted and I can't wait to go back.
Remember even if it's grey I would recommend putting on sun cream as I'm still burnt.

Shower block is basic and functional clean and hot showers 20p Location is fantastic with good facilities eg pub, shop, cafe.
The walks are on your doorstep and further afield you haver Ladybower Reservoir and Derwent Water.
All in a proper traditional campsite in the heart of the peak district.

Coopers Camp And Caravan Site was amazing. The site owners Penny and Roger were so sociable and very helpful.
The toilet blocks were cleaned every night/early morning.
The shop has got most basics and a cafe on site was nice too. The area is amazing with views to die for.
We would recommend this site to anyone family's, couples, walkers, hikers, , or anyone who just wants to chill.
The site was on a slight slope but nothing to worry about the field was excellent considering it had rained for almost a week before we went.
