Stayed here for 4 nights and even though it rained buckets we really enjoyed our stay. You have beautiful views all around and the sound of the farm animals and wildlife make it a relaxing place.
The Nags Head pub just outside the entrance to the campsite is worth a visit as they allow children and you can play bar billiards, penny shoving, dominoes, and numerous other games. The meals looked excellent but be warned not cheap.
It is a working farm and the farmer was very busy during our stay. You are not allowed to park your vehicles on the field as they will probably get stuck if it is wet. The toilet block is basic but usable, but we didn't use the cafe during our stay.
There are 4 fields all gently sloping so don't make the mistake we made and pitch in a hollow as the drainage is not brilliant ,and the underside of our tent was like a bog by the end of our stay. There are excellent walks around the site and the site is more suited for hikers with small tents in my opinion. Our stay cost £11.50 a night for 2 adults 2 children and a car which is not bad, and I would return here but probably with a smaller tent next time.

We've just spent the weekend at this campsite and it is in a superb location and very peaceful. Despite the freezing temperatures and howling wind we managed to pitch in a relatively sheltered area, which even gave us some protection from the snow!
I must, however, air a note of caution. The owner told us that the showers were not to be used (and they had in fact been blocked off) as it was 'the wrong time of year for showers', and the toilet block was absolutely filthy. There was only one working light in the ladies and none at all in the mens. The toilets themselves looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in quite a while and even had cracked and split seats, which considering the poor hygiene was quite a worry.
That aside, the site was very quiet and handy for the two local pubs. The owner was pleasant enough and the location superb for walking.

Went down on a friday and left on a sunday. Weather was good, sunshine with some drizzle. Nice location and close to the best of the two pubs in the village of Edale. Great walks nearby including pennine way. Found the farmer as mentioned in previous reviews to be ok. Wasnt overly friendly but soon chilled him out and found he was just busy working on his farm.
Shower blocks were more suited for sheep dipping! Very basic, water was never hot in sinks or showers. Camping fields are quite large but are generally on a slight hill. Not too bad as long as you position your tent correctly for sleeping etc. Plenty of other campers but noise was minimal in late evening.
Will come back again as prefered this quieter location to some in Hope valley. Not suitable for caravans as fields can get boggy and didnt encounter any hook ups. All in all a quiet campsite for the discerning hardy camper.

September 2005 We have just come back from an interesting weekend. Firstly this site is on a working farm, the site is situated in a beautiful and scenic location. Great for walks up and around in the hills, very accessible!
On the downside, we generally thought that for the size of the campsite, the amount of people staying there (prehaps a couple of hundred when we were there) one block of showers / toilets were not enough. As this is a big campsite you have quite a trek to get to the toilets if you are camped at the top end of the field. (But their toliets are basic, clean and fine, though showers were not working on the sunday)
The campsite was very full when we were there. There was no designated camping areas and you could camp where you liked, so this meant that you did unfortanutley face the prospect of being corned in or camping on top of the main drag down to the loos which got quite busy.
We did find the campsite a little noisy - larger groups and groups of younger people coming back from the pub a little worse for wear.. but not to much of a issue.
Owner not partically friendly or approachable, but if your turnover in campers is as high as his you would not want to spend the time of day having pointless and repetative conversations with them.
In general - good family site (our 3 year old loved it) though will plan ahead next time and book the campsite down the road.

August 2005 Just spent the August Bank Holiday here and we will definitely be going back. Ground on a slight slope - amenities excellent - toilets seemed to be cleaned very early in the morning but best to take some toilet roll with you. Showers only 10p but suggest you go in flip flops and old clothing as there isn't a lot of room and clothes / shoes can get wet. Get a long time for 10p but take 2 10p pieces to be safe. Recommend the cafe for food / prices but we will not be eating again in teh Nags Head. £7.95 for fish and chips - they got our order wrong and didn't seem to care - people next to us returned their meal as it wasn't what is said on the tin if you know what I mean. Excellent value on the camp site - cost us £32.75 for 3 nights - 2 adults, 1 child and 2 dogs as well as a van which can be parked next to your pitch.

August 2005 Just came back from Coopers campsite with some friends. Nice, clean place with everything you would need!! Had some very noisy campers next to us on the first night but Mr Cooper soon addressed this. They were evicted after they took things too far with him. It is nice to see that the owner actually cares about those on his site. I actually found that it could take a few minutes of talking to Mr Cooper for him to drive the conversation - then I couldn’t get away. Nice chap. Would go there again.

July 2005 I visited this campsite in a group (couples & singles in their mid/late 20s) & we had a great weekend. Although basic, the facilities (showers & toilets) were ok & the Cafe served a good range of fry-ups, etc. The pub across the road from the campsite was friendly but you had to get there pretty early to get a seat. The campsite was big & clean with the only downside being the slopes. The farmer was fair & did his best to sort problems / complaints & he didn't place restrictions on times, e.g., when to be quiet late on, etc. The site was ideally situated for local walks, etc. We spent the Saturday of our visit in Castleton (approx 5 miles) & the caves (Devil's Arse & Speedwell Cavern) are well worth a visit. It was a good site & we'll no doubt be going back soon

August 2005 Lovely quiet site surrounded by beautiful countryside. Fell asleep to the sound of sheep baaing (beats counting them!) The toilets were very clean, 10p for a shower- water was nice and hot. Don`t see what the problem was people had with Mr Cooper he was ok, no time to gossip has a farm to run. The site has a small shop, cafe, post office. There's a payphone just outside which came in handy as t-mobile has no signal (I didn`t hear 1 mobile all the time there, so maybe no signal for all). The Nags Head pub is just opposite and The Rambler about 5 mins walk. Had a brilliant relaxing couple of nights, my 2 dogs loved it too. 0Will be definately going back -soon!

July 2005 A good site, and friendly. I have no complaints. (This site is better than Fieldhead if driving, as you can park next to your pitch here. Fieldhead you park in car-park and may have some walk to pitch. But Fieldhead is next to station so better if arriving by train)
Campsite has lovely views, clean toilets, with soft toilet paper (replaced mid-morning, so sometimes have to search for a roll at this time), hot water for washing up (have to fill a bucket at single hot tap).
No complaints about owner, he was polite if quiet, but I didn't go there to talk to him, I went to enjoy the countryside!
Site was quite busy, and so quite nosy in the evenings, both with kids playing and people coming back from the pub, but this is to be expected, there was no reason to complain.
Nags Head pub is just across the road, quite pricy, especially for soft drinks, but good selection of well kept beers and excellent service.
Camp Shop/Post Office stocks basics, soup, bread etc but is expensive, so best take your own stuff.
