Our first Dads n lads camping trip of the year and what a great site for it.
We always opt for rough and ready sites where you can get away from it all and enjoy an open fire but I have to say this was something a bit more special.
Charles and Family manage to deliver the best of both worlds by also giving some of the best facilities we have come across but without the sectioned off pitches of the more organised sites we detest!
Nice kids playground and footie pitch, tennis court and just about the best toilet and shower blocks we have come across (although saying that we are more used to composting loos and solar showers!).
Charles was regularly doing a tour of the site bringing fresh wood and checking we were okay.
In addition to that the location is great with amazing views of Ivinghoe beacon and the surrounding chilterns and a short 15 minute walk into the village where the Rose & Crown gave us a lovely welcome
Suffice to say we will definitely be heading back before too long; just hope it doesn't get too popular!

Perfect site with a great location.
Stunning views over the countryside with plenty of sheep for entertainment.
The owner is a very hands on host and did everything he could to make sure we were happy. The fire pits for hire are a great asset to the site as a lot of sites don't allow fires, it was particularly welcomed as the temperature went below 0 during the night.
The facilities are as clean as they come and would definitely visit again.
This site is ideal for Walkers, Families, Couples and groups.

My wife and I have just returned from a fantastic stay at Town Farm. We only stayed 1 night on an impromptu get-away but we will definitely be returning for many more.
The site is set in the most fabulous countryside with wonderful views all around. You could imagine you were almost anywhere!
The owner was friendly, welcoming and very helpful and made a point of dropping by each day to say hello and make sure that everyone was ok and enjoying themselves.
There are only 2 toilets per sex at the moment but a new shower block is well on the way to being operational by Easter. However, we didn't find this a problem and did not have to queue at all. Showers were free, hot and spacious. The provision of a hand-dryer, or paper towels would be a useful addition as there is no means of drying your hands currently.
Locally there is much to see and do and there is a lovely pub in Ivinghoe which is only a 10 minute walk which serves good food.
All in all a great site and we cannot wait to go back (which will be very soon!)

I am going to leave 2 reviews for this site, the first for the person who wants a quick one – it is a good site, and the second for the kind of person that wants all the details.
1 – it’s a great site, rules but no rules if you know what I mean, it is proper old fashioned camping without being dictated to by caravan clubs etc. Excellent hosts and spotlessly clean!
2 – for the second type of person here goes…………. We arrived on site and was greeted by the owner, wonderful chap so friendly, he let us pitch where we wanted and left us to it. After we had pitched up a few hours later we waved Charles (the owner) down and paid him, where he talked us through the walks and facilities etc.
You are not allowed to have noise after 11pm, you have fires in the provided fire pits etc, the normal campsite rules apply but they are very friendly and helpful with arrival times etc.
This is not your normal campsite where everything is regimented, it is proper camping, if you want to leave late no problem as long as no one else is needing your spot, the sheep don’t stop bleeting and there is no camp shop………….
In short this place is a place sent from heaven, the toilets are immaculate, the showers ……. Yes you press the button every 8 seconds but hey that’s the fun of camping…. The best bit is the views, wow, they are out of this world, the walks are fab, the views are amazing and the local pub is 10 mins walk away with open fire and friendly.
My leaving comment is you must visit, they are great! The site is Brilliant and we will be returning a lot

Disappointed with this site. Not a busy weekend, but only one very small hand basin was insufficient. Not helped by the fact that if anybody opens a toilet door while you're attempting to brush your teeth the door hits you! Water was at best luke warm.
Decking outside toilet block was very icy and slippy first thing.
Worst part was that while I was attempting to brush my teeth and wash my face in the morning, the owner came in the ladies without knocking, didn't even say 'excuse me' and continued to bustle past me, checking 'the state of the place' as he so charmingly termed it. I found this to be entirely inappropriate and most impolite.

We loved this site;
The friendly owners and very warm, helpful welcome
The fire pits (good value and lovely)
The space, there were are least 100 units on the site, it was the hottest October for decades, but it never felt cramped or crowded. There was lots of space. The middle part was kept empty, which gave a spacious feel too.
I loved the owner popping in to talk to all the guests
I loved the peace and quiet, not a sound after 10pm is, which is so important to us. Given the number of people, that was a miracle.
The children loved the park and chickens. We didn't have the children around the tent at all, they spent the whole day at the park/following the chickens etc.
The view, just beautiful. I'm sure the surrounding area is nice, but we had no reason at all to leave the site!
Facilities were a bit limited, but not too bad. I'm sure this was an unusual weekend, because there were so many people and the queues not too bad.
I loved the utility room, washing facilities and disabled access.
I loved the new decking around the toilets etc. The facilities were clean, but also, the owners cleared rubbish etc frequently.
You must be thinking 'nothing could be perfect' the things that didn't suit were so minor, it seems silly to mention (2 ladies, 2 gents loos not always enough though I've seen far worse elsewhere, and stupid doors that stop you getting out of toilets!) I think the owner plans to change the loo doors. So for a beautiful setting, warm and friendly staff, and happy children, you can't beat this one!

Great little site with good views over the countryside. Ivinghoe beacon just sitting there waiting to be climbed.
Informal setting, and Charles is very helpful and chilled out. Was quiet when we went due to time of year. Toilet block is very good for such a small site. Play park and chickens make it fun for little ones.
My sister in law stayed and her kids stayed in our caravan with us and loved it, but being a tent owner she couldn't understand the pricing policy for tent camping as it seemed prohibitively expensive, so might be worth a phone call to the site rather than taking the tariff shown on the website.

We chose this site as it was an hour from home and enabled a group of five families to get away for a weekend with the kids.
Charles, the owner/farmer, was very friendly and showed us where to pitch. We were put close to the new kids play area which was ideal for us. It was a you shaped field so for those without kids there was plenty of space away from the play area.
The only downside about our pitch was it was a few minutes walk to the showers block and flushing toilets. We did, however, have two chemical loos by the play area, which proved very handy. Our pitch was on a slight slope but didn't overly bother us.
We were able to hire a firepit and buy logs on site very reasonably, which was great as someone seems to have forgotten that it's August and shouldn't be this cold! We were also able to buy Free Range eggs which was quite nice as the chickens were able to wander the campsite unhindered.
The showers and toilets were always well stocked and clean. The showers were free, too, although they weren't always hot.
There were four indoor washing up sinks, and four outdoor bathroom sinks which sounds strange but fine for washing teeth and faces! There was a cold outdoor shower too, but I didn't see anyone brave enough to use it.
The coin operated washing machine and dryer were a good idea, and had we be staying longer probably would have been used.
We spent a day at nearby Wendover Woods which wore the kids out. The next day we tried to go up to Ivinghoe Beacon, but it started tipping down, so we gave up and went back to the campsite and had a beer.
Overall a great site, and will be returning.

We loved this place and will definitely go back.
We arrived late on the Friday and simply pitched in a space we chose. When we finally caught up with the owner this wasn't a problem, despite the fact that we should have registered (and paid) on arrival, all we had to do was move our car so that he could get a small tent in between us and the next group.
Some have said that an extra toilet and shower block would help but we never really found any problems with any of these facilities. They were immaculately clean at all times of the day and night and could only be improved by providing plugs in the wash-up sinks and a little more hot water.
The new play area was well used by our children who were happy to go down and play there at every chance they got.
Nowhere in the literature was it mentioned but there was a musician staying there who played a couple of kids concerts on the Saturday and a later session Saturday evening in a grain silo. Great acoustics, entertaining choice of music and not audible from across the campsite, so you didn't have to be part of it.
We took advantage of the fire pit rental and enjoyed a warm and cosy late night chatting away. For this alone I think we will be back with friends for a group camp to get more benefit from the amenable late night option, and it was nice to see the glow coming from other families spots too.
Although we saw the owner two or three times every day, we didn't manage to pay him until were breaking camp on the Sunday morning. I couldn't recall the rates but I was pleasantly surprised by what good value it was for a family weekend.
The views from the campsite are great and when we come back we'll walk up Ivinghoe Beacon to enjoy a slightly longer view!

Great campsite with stunning views in all directions. We went in a group of 9 adults and 6 children and the site was perfect for a chilled weekend of camping.
The new children's play area was great and the children loved the roaming chickens.
There was plenty of room for us to organise a game of rounders and in the evening enjoyed hiring a fire pit.
The toilets and showers were absolutely spotless all day and night but the hot water often ran out.
This meant it was difficult sometimes to wash dishes etc. However, this would not put me off-we would visit this site again.
