Superb site, great views. Owner is very friendly and helpful to all. Showers and toilets now complete. All in all a great place to be, the policy of quiet after 11 is great. We have been there every weekend for last 5 weeks and no problems with the camp site. Not terribly keen on the village pub the Rose and Crown but that has nothing to do with this camp site. Thoroughly recommend the place.

We enjoyed two nights on Town Farm with its fantastic view of Ivinghoe Beacon and the surrounding countryside. The farm is in an area of outstanding natural beauty which is protected by concealing tents along the hedge and placing caravans and campers adjacent to a large farm building where they will merge. Over three days our group of four walked in the Chiltern Hills along the Grand Union Canal towpath and on the Icknield Way skirting Whipsnade. Super food at the Valiant Trooper, Aldbury.

Arrived at the campsite just after lunch, there is a mobile number on the entrance to the campsite that you call to check in. Unfortunately the number went to answerphone so I went to the office on site and the ladies in there were very helpful at locating the campsite owner and sending us in the right direction.
The owner was very welcoming and explained that the campsite was a work in progress so the be aware that he was new to the camping business.
We were given a choice of 6 hook up points that run along the outside of a bar. The hook ups are quite close together and there is some hardstanding between the barn and the grass where the owner is trying to level the ground for caravans etc.
We parked along side a caravan that had placed itself across two pitches so this only really left room for 5 pitches across the barn instead of 6.
The weather was very windy and trying to put up a trailer tent was very challenging. The campsite is quite high up and the view across the valley is amazing but you need to be aware that the winds is always there so you will need more than one person to erect the tent.
The campsite filled over the weekend and some areas appeared more crowded than others. The owner wants it to be a family campsite so there is a no noise rule after 11pm.
Pro's
The view is amazing
The owner is very welcoming
There is a village pub within walking distance that serves food and a nice cold pint! Please note that the walk is not suitable for young children or those who find difficaulty walking.
Close to lots of places for families
Con's
Only 1 female and 1 male shower
Only 2 female and 2 male toilets.
Very windy
Hook ups too close together, would be nice if there were hook ups for tents around the field.
The campsite could do with a small shop that stocks essentials and more showers and toilets.

A nice location with great views but a long walk or drive from pubs and shops. Very near Ivinghoe Beacon and close to Dunstable Downs.
The new shower and toilet block is good but constantly runs out of loo paper, and the small litter bins in the facilities soon overflowed. However, the owner Charles ran around constantly to refil the loo rolls and empty the bins. Perhaps larger industrial toilet rolls and bigger bins would help.
Charles the owner was welcoming and chatted to all on the site it seems. He was keen to see how we felt about our stay and if we would return, which we certainly will do. The fresh eggs from the on site hens were delicious too!

Owners were really friendly and helpful. Portable barbecues were loaned if required. Still a couple of weeks for the shower block to be built, but that wasn't a problem. Temporary portable loos until then were maintained regularly.
The kids had a great time they loved the trampoline, spent loads of time playing football, the goal post was a bonus. The kids had loads of fun on the tennis court, the little ones enjoyed the small swing, the owners have said a new play park will be built.
The fresh eggs were amazing which can be bought on site! The kids loved to watch the hens and the sheep which were all secured in the adjoining fields.
Amazing views from the campsite and some great walks Ivinghoe Beacon, Ashridge Woodland ( national trust ) Wendover Woods amazing places to explore, only a ten minute walk into the village for any supplies tescos is a ten minute drive away. The nearest pub is only 5 mins away.
Local attractions Whipsnade Zoo, Woburn Safari Park, Mead Open Farm. Natural History Museum all within 10mins apart from Woburn Safari being 30mins away. Ideal base for loads of attractions.
We will certainly be back looking forward to the shower/ toilet block to be built the only thing I would recommend would be a sandpit for the little ones.

Just stayed for one night to try out our new tent. Mixed feelings about the site.
On the plus side- the owner is very friendly and helpful it is very cheap. The views are wonderful and the field is huge and gently undulating- meaning we could find a fairly flat pitch easily. My son had fun on the giant trampoline and playing football on the playing field. It is a working farm and the sheep were driven through the camp field at one point- we enjoyed watching the sheep dog at work.
On the minus side- toilet and showers not available for a couple of weeks yet (chemical loos not pleasant). We knew this when we booked but thought we could survive one night! I've rated the facilities quite low but I'm sure this will improve when the new toilet / showers are available.
What looked like builders were living in caravans on the site. They took the water point by hooking up their caravans to it when they got home from work of an evening and there's no other water- not even to wash your hands after the portaloo.
The site is exposed to the wind, being quite high up (thus the great views) and there's no obvious 'sheltered' areas. The wind kept us awake most of the night- we may just have been unlucky with the weather.
There's quite a lot of noise from aircraft coming into Luton airport. It's low enough to be able to see the airline logos on some of the planes and this only eased in the small hours.
All in all I would go back for the really pretty location and local walks, but I'd definitely take earplugs so I could get some sleep!

This site occupies a truly spectacular location. Every way you turn offers a remarkable view, -the bronze age hill fort at Ivinghoe beacon, Ashridge, Wendover Woods and across the vale of Aylesbury. Its easy to imagine you are in somewhere like the Yorkshire Dales but really you are within commuting distance of London.
Facilities are basic but a toilet and shower block is being constructed and due to open in June. There are some hook ups close to the farm buildings. Fresh (and still warm) free range eggs are sold from the farm. Our children spent hours on the 14 foot enclosed trampoline.
Public footpaths and bridleways criss-cross the local landscape regularly punctuated with great real ale country pubs. The nearest pub is just over half a mile away. There is also a 9 hole golf club about half a mile away and 'visitors are welcome.'
This site is only 12 miles from our home and it is tempting to keep this gem of a site a secret. However that would not do justice to the fantastic warm welcome of the site owning farmer.
The only minor niggle with the site is that it is underneath the flight path of Luton airport and there was some regular aircraft noise in certain wind conditions. This was not a problem for a motor-home or caravan but might be an irritation to tent users. Lets hope for more ash clouds!
We expect to be regular weekend visitors to this site this summer.

The owner is only just starting out in the camping business so the field currently has no toilet blocks or showers so it was a feral weekend with the kids but we loved it! An amazing location with a view of Ivinghoe Beacon which is the starting point of the Icknield Way to the east, and The Ridgeway long-distance path to the west. Model gliders are flown in the strong winds on the beacon which the kids enjoyed watching. The owner's brother runs the PYO fruit and veg farm just around the corner and there is a small playground in the village of Ivinghoe where there are some lovely pubs. Huge Tescos 5 minutes drive away in Tring. We were also able to have a fire which to me is a major part of camping.
So if the owner decides to build a shower and toilet block and the place doesn't lose it's ruggedness then it can only do amazingly well.
We'll be back next summer.
