Amazing site! My 5 year old son and I spent 5 days at Town Farm and loved every second of it!

The campsite is beautifully situated with an amazing view to Ivinghoe Beacon. There is plenty of space and the owner, Charles, does not cram people in which allows for peace and quiet.

The toilet facilities are wonderful and very clean at all times, considering we went during school holidays this is very impressive.

There is a new playground area which is fantastic and entertained my son for many hours. The site is also close to Tring, where we went to the Natural History Museum which is free. Also, we went to the Leighton Buzzard Light Railway which was fantastic fun. There are pubs, shops and pick-your-own all in walking distance.

A few nights there was a man playing various stringed instruments in an old silo, very cool.

Elevated fires are allowed, which is key for me, and you can buy firewood and hire firepits off Charles who drives around day and night.

The atmosphere was perfect. Charles couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. He often came around to see how we were doing and even jump-started my car twice when the battery died!

All in all this campsite was just perfect for us and I hope to go back very soon!

Charles is friendly and welcoming and makes an effort to personally meet all campers. We stayed one night here when seeing the Foo Fighters at Milton Keynes Bowl, about 30 minutes away. Ideal.

Seemed to be inadequate shower and toilet facilities for the number of canmpers. We used the showers at 2am so didn't need to queue and they are certainly hot and clean and new.

Lovely view to the hills opposite which are worth a climb. A walk along the canal towards Leighton Buzzard passes a great pub, The Grove Lock.

Was charged £20 for one night and there was night security at the gate to check us back in at 1. 00am.

This is a great campsite! I took my nieces (aged 3 and 5) on their first camping trip here. I wanted to make sure that their first experience of camping was a good one and picked town farm campsite because the reviews were good, I was not disappointed, they had a great time.

The first thing to say about the campsite is that campsite owner is fantastic, he could not have been more helpful, welcoming and friendly. You simply phone the mobile number you are given when you arrive and he's there in a matter of minutes (usually in his jeep or on his quad bike). He'll give you a couple of pages with information about where the nearest supermarket is, where the nearest pub is, what attractions there are nearby.

There's a children's' play area which seemed to keep kids aged from 3 upwards entertained for hours at a time. There's even a football net, which my brother and boyfriend made full use of!

The toilets were the cleanest I have ever seen at a campsite, the showers had hot running water at all times. There are washing machines and dryers on site(we didn't use as we only stayed two nights), as well as plug sockets if you wanted to charge anything. Also the obligatory washing up facilities, again very clean with hot running water.

The pub is a hilly 10 minute walk from the site (more with a three year old on your shoulders), make sure you follow the quick route which is on the information sheet you are provided, or ask the campsite owner. It's a great pub with some cracking real ales, food was good but be warned the thai curry is incredibly hot.

The campsite impressed the whole family, including my mum who hasn't been camping for a fair few years. She may even be a camping convert. I told her not to expect every campsite to be this good!

I will definitely be back with my family or with friends, it's quite a find.

This is a brilliant camp site!

I list its main plus-points (in order of importance!):

1) Fire pits(for a fiver plus another fiver for a bag of wood) - camping isn't really camping without a camp fire. And this camp site lets you do REAL camping.

2) Stunning views all around.

3) Great location, beautiful walks nearby, grand union canal not too far, the Ashridge estate. And all of this so close to London!

4) The owner - Charles, what a great guy! Friendly, helpful, very nice, he even let us check-out at 6pm on our last day.

5) Facilities: immaculate. And none of these cheap flimsy plastic shower cubicles either. These are proper solid showers. The outside sinks are a great idea, and the extra 3 showers in the heated unisex section are fantastic.

6) Chalk soil means no boggy puddles even after hours of torrential rain. By midday the next day the place was bone-dry.

We will most definitely return.

We have visited Town Farm on a number of occasions as we feel this is a little gem of a site.

Situated just outside of Ivinghoe with it's good pubs and only a short walk from the site, there is plenty to do in the local area and the views from the site are fantastic.

The owner Charles could not me more helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. He is always around the site and can often be found chatting with campers and I think that his presence helps manage the no late night noise policy. Great when camping with the family.

The toilets and showers have always been clean whenever we have been, both out of season and over Bank Holidays. The play equipment although adequate is being upgraded to enhance the entrainment factor for the younger campers, however, our children could quite easily spend time watching the on-site chickens. Can't beat fresh eggs in the morning!

Just spent a great week-end on this site with partner and our two children. We are relatively new to camping (this was our fourth outing) and this site was just what we were looking for. Superb setting, glorious views, fantastic walking for all abilities. The site itself is very well managed. Good communication with the owner during the booking process and a warm welcome on arrival. It rained a fair amount over the week-end but somehow the owners managed to keep the flor of the toilet block spotless. As all other reviewers have said, the owner is very helpful (but not in an obtrusive way).

We took a fire pit and bought some firewood on the site and had two lovely evenings around the fire toasting marshmallows whilst enjoying a glass or two. The kids loved it. Other campers were respectful, no loud noise. With so much to explore in the surrounding area we will definitely return. I would recommend this site without hesitation.

We booked this campsite based on the favourable reviews and have just returned from a weekend break.

As others have said the owner is very friendly and a warm welcome is given. We were given a large space to set up as we were meeting friends.

The campsite was very busy, I would say at least 60 units on the Saturday night (double what they advertise). Unfortunately this made it very noisy at both ends of the day. The toilet blocks only have two male and two female toilets which got very busy. There is little space available to wash children - apart from the outside sinks which are cold water only.

There is a play park on site, but this consists of three swings which were in not a very good state of repair. The owner is in the process of building a new play area which will add to this site considerably.

The site is in a very pretty location with lots to do in the area.

Overall we had a nice weekend but the noise was a problem and it was disappointing that the owners allow so many units when the facilities cannot support this.

We have just returned from a two night stay with five adults, seven children and three dogs. The site is lovely, very child/dog friendly and a warm welcome from the owner was a nice touch as we arrived.

Despite appearing to be full, there were no problems, and no noisy groups. The site is relatively new, and clearly popular. The facilities were spotless, although water not always hot - I suspect largely down to the amount of people on the site.

A second toilet block would not go amiss. We will definitely return as the views and the area are lovely - a beautiful setting.

Great trip and will return.

My wife and I have now visited Town Farm twice, over both the bank holiday 'weekends' in May 2011. A total of 7 nights camping there.

This is a new site, only in its seconds season so it may be viewed as a work in progress. Charles, the owner, is still working on perfecting the facilities.

Any visitor to the site will first be greeted by Charles, who will do anything within his power to make your stay enjoyable. He showed us to our spot (no marked pitches), and provided us with a nice list of local shops / attractions / walks each with excellent directions on an A4 sheet.

Charles periodically drives around the site on his 'buggy' and is very friendly. He has fire baskets and wood for sale - one of the few sites which allow fire baskets.

For our first trip we hadn't booked far in advance so we were in the 'overflow' field which is Charles' chicken field. We enjoyed the chickens clucking around the tent but it is quite far from the facilities. 2nd time around we booked 4 weeks in advance and got a spot near the toilets / showers / washing up block.

The views are stunning pretty much wherever you are. From the chicken field you have a view of the rolling hills including Ivinghoe Beacon, and of the barley fields. From the main field you can see more fields including sheep (owned by Charles' brother). A path through the sheep field leads to a local pub.

The toilet/shower facilities are almost brand new and are kept spotless. Disabled access is easy via a large ramp and there's a dedicated disabled shower/toilet. The only issue might be the number of toilets and showers, plenty when the site isn't too busy but there are queues when the site is full.

There's also free wi-fi which covers most of the site, we've used it to watch BBC i-Player so the speed is good. There's a football goal and a large trampoline for children and both were in near constant use during our two visits. In addition, Charles doesn't let the site get packed full so there's plenty of space for kids and adults to run around.

We did find in both locations that there was a fair to strong wind, which on one occasion actually made lighting our BBQ impossible. Some evenings it meant we'd stay inside the tent, however on other days the wind was very calm.

The site caters for tents, motorised campers and caravans. It is perfectly located for those who want to walk or take in the Chilterns by car, or if you live nearby and want a nice, friendly campsite.

The best points about this site are the views and the friendliness of the manager.

A good walk taking in the Ivinghoe Beacon can be had from the site and a trip into London is convenient from the nearby Tring station.

The toilet/shower block was very clean (and it was good to see solar panels on the roof) however I was surprised at the lack of basins with running hot water and find it hard to believe that there are sufficient showers and toilets to cater for 30 pitches (I was there off-peak so there wasn't a problem).
