What a lovely site, facilities excellent and clean. Entertainment wasn't so good could have done with a couple of decent singers or groups, but the quiz was a good laugh. My only complaint is that security are very good at night making sure that the noise levels are kept down its just a pity they don't do the same early morning, got woke up very early quite a few mornings by inconsiderate neighbours in a tent that were very loud, didn't really want to be listening to their radio at 6.00am in the morning. I think that is probably why a lot of sites keep tents and caravans in different areas.

Visited this site when the weather was at its worse, never got a bit of mud on shoes the pitches are so good with tarmac road to drive on too. The facilities are second to none cleaned regularly , private showers with toilet in them and sink and the usual showers and toilets. The shop is well stocked, the staff are lovely and they drive around at night to make sure there's no problems. The bar is good and the food is nice too. Didn't go in pool but its a good size and heated. There is a bus that runs into st. Ives regularly. lovely site will definitely go back.

This was our first stay at Polmanter. Our group consisted of 2 adults and two children aged 6 and 11. The facilities at this site are outstanding and we chose this site mainly due to the reviews already given on this website. We stayed on Morvah and had a nice view out to sea. The pitches are quite level here and there is good privacy with hedges bordering two sides of the pitch. The pitches on Morvah are probably the largest on the site and we had no trouble pitching our large tent, gazebo, windbreak and swingball with plenty of room still for parking. We stayed here for two weeks and were fortunate enough to have good weather for the duration. The showering and washing up facilities were excellent and we didn't have to queue for showers once the entire holiday which is pretty good considering it was peak season and the park was full. The water was always hot, sometimes a little bit too hot and the showers were quite powerful and each cubicle had enough room for hanging clothes and a small bench in each one. There are separate family rooms which are very large and each of these has it's own shower, toilet and basin. The lighting at night was also good and you didn't need a torch to go out at night time. All the other facilities were of a very high standard. We used the pool, children's playgroung, mini golf, restaurant, take-away and laundry facilities which were all good. The only minor complaint I would have is about the laundry. There were several large handwashing sinks, a few washing machines, some large tumble dryers and some ironing boards and irons. The tumble dryers were fairly priced at 50p a go but the washing machines took 3 x £1 coins and you had to provide your own detergent which I thought was quite expensive. (This may be normal however, as I don't visit launderettes at home very often). St Ives itself is beautiful and the beaches are stunning. It is well worth the effort to get into town and the beaches. As car parking in the town is very difficult due to the narrow streets and the volumes of visitors it is well worth making use of the high season bus service from the campsite into St Ives. The buses run to and from the site every hour until quite late in the evening at about £2.40 each way for a family of four. The other ways you can make the journey are by walking from the site along the footpath and lane which will take about 30 minutes with kids. Unless you are fairly fit I wouldn't recommend walking back especially after a long day on the beach with tired kids and lots of beach paraphernalia to carry as it is all uphill and quite steep in places. You can also park in the leisure centre car park for £5 for the day and walk to Porthminster beach which takes about 10 minutes but again you have to walk uphill to get back or get the bus. Either way, allow yourself about £5 a day for parking or bus fares for a family of four. If you're anything like us we had to make use of this service because of carrying belly boards, beach chairs, towels, buckets and spades etc. Eating out was good. We only used the site restaurant once and the food was good. The Halsetown Inn, about 10 mins walk away was also very good. We cooked outside quite often as the weather was good. The nearest supermarkets are Tescos in Carbis Bay and Morrisons in Penzance. As mentioned before, watch out for the aggressive seagulls! If your attention is diverted or you turn your back for a moment they will have your food away! I witnessed food being stolen from a barbecue and a child having an ice cream stolen from his hand. Don't leave any rubbish bags outside or they will also rip these to shreds! My kids had great fun chasing them away. Overall this was an excellent holiday and we would definitely return here again one day. From talking to other people on the site it is a good idea to book early as many people come back here year after year.

Lovely site. Brilliant location. Staff pleasant and helpful. Excellent bus service into St. Ives. Large Pitches. Toilet and shower facilities clean and tidy (Morvah block in particular.) Good playpark for the kids. Lovely outdoor pool (pity we didn't get the weather to enjoy it!) The on site pub and restaurant were great too. (Halsetown is a 5 minute walk away and has a lovely country pub.) Small games room on site an advantage in wet weather! All quiet after dark. Negatives? Not overly impressed with the shop but adequate for essentials and some of the older toilet/shower facilities would benefit from upgrading. St. Ives is beautiful loads to do and see with a quaint harbour and breathtaking beach. Beware of the seagulls though - they're gallus! Would have no hesitation recommending this site to friends and family. We'll be back!

Originally booked for a week in July only stayed for 2 nights, the weather was terrible. We stayed in a tent on the morvah area but the gale force winds broke our tent poles. Site itself was clean as were the toilets. There was very little to do for the grown ups during the day. The takeaway was only open for 1 hour at night & the shop seemed to close for lunch!. Also the restaurant was closed all day as was the bar so you couldn't get a drink or anything to eat until 6 at night. The entertainment itself was pretty poor, a quiz on a Sunday night & bingo Mon, Weds, & Friday. I overheard one of the other campers asking about live entertainment to which the barman replied "once the season picks up we will have singers on!" Overall a decent camp site but I don't think we would go back.

My partner and I booked here for 5 nights in June, absolutely gorgeous campsite. We were in the Morvah section and was particularly impressed with the effort made to make the tent pitches level. The pitches themselves were huge, we have a large 8 man tent and still had plenty of space within the pitch to have table, chairs, cooker etc outside The toilet block was nice and clean and had hairdryers supplied but also empty sockets for other essentials, such as mobile phone charger, I'd often just top up battery for emergencies, while I was getting dressed. We had a dog and the dog walking field was ample, he was shattered at the end of every day. The shop on site had all the essentials, milk, bread, alcohol, and even had some things which your bound to forget such as clothes pegs, washing line, also has some tent pegs in stock which was great as we bent two putting the tent up. Everything in shop was reasonably priced too. Word of warning though the shop was open from 8:30am to 11:30am then from 3pm to 6pm, so ensure you get your supplies during this time. I programmed the local Tesco into my tom tom, which was approx 10mins away in the car. The seagulls in Cornwall are not shy so watch your food and bin bags as they will attempt to get both. There were only a couple of downsides to the week which had nothing to do with the campsite, firstly the weather, we made good use of the on site laundry, but make sure you take some 50p's for the dryers. Also I found the price of petrol slightly higher in this area of the country. Overall was very impressed with the campsite and would definitely go back again

We have just come back from a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday staying at this site. We had originally booked 7 nights and stayed for 8 as we did not want to leave. We found that: - The site is very clean and tidy with nice views from every pitch. - Friendly staff. - The pitches are well kept with hedges between each one for extra privacy and shelter. Grass and grounds maintained well. - The shower/toilet blocks are excellent. - Within walking distance of St Ives - we enjoyed walking into St Ives and catching the bus back (the walk takes you across the field and down a pretty lane). - Bins emptied regularly. The beaches in and around St Ives are breathtaking, with crystal clear turquoise water and pale sand gently shelving into the sea. We can recommend this site and hope to go back there soon!

Stopped for a week from 26th May. First impressions site very organised, clean and plenty of space in each pitch . We had a full service pitch which covered hook-up and water which was great, the services were also lit which added as extra lights on a night in the tent, no good if you can only go to sleep in the dark! Showers & toilets were very clean and plentiful, hairdryers available, maybe different in height of summer. Site not too full (mainly due to the weather forecast) but everything was open. The walk into St Ives is really nice and downhill, about 45 min walk if strolling, never walked back always caught the bus that runs every hour from st Ives centre to the site and back from early morning up to 11.30 at night (around 80p per adult) which we used a lot, save taking car. The weather was not great had a real bad storm on the bank holiday sunday only our windbreaks were smashed others had tents ripped to pieces, weather did improve for the remainder of the week. The site is very convenient for st Ives, penzance and all surrounding areas, never really having to travel more than 10miles or more (lands end, sennan cove). Tesco's & Morrision in Penzance. Never tried to take away or meals on site but of the people we spoke to they did rate it. Entertainment - a couple nights a guy called Freddy Zapp was excellent I believe he is making a return during summer. All in all we would return maybe more into summer months to hopefully ensure a bit warmer weather

We stayed at Polmanter for two nights and were very impressed by the campsite and its facilities. The pitches are well spaced out and divided by hedges so there is a feeling of privacy. The shower block was spotless and heated so that when you step out of the shower, you don't freeze to death. The showers were hot and clean, with plenty of pegs to hang up your clothes and towel. There were hairdryers available in the ladies shower block as well as plug points if you want to bring your own. We used the takeaway service in the mornings for breakfasts which was very handy - they do a mean sausage and egg bap! The shop is well stocked and, although we didn't use the restaurant, it looked very good. We took our dog and it was nice to have the dog exercise field close to our pitch (pitch 233). There is a nearby pub (Hasletown Inn? Can't remember but it's down the road) which serves excellent food and good real ales. We used the bus service from the campsite into St Ives and found it to be a real bonus. The fare was 80p per adult and they were happy for our dog to travel with us. All in all, this is a five star campsite and we will definitely be returning.

We would like to leave an excellent review for Polmanter! The facilities were really clean and well maintained, the pitches are well spread out leaving plenty of space. Obviously a popular campsite for families as well as couples. Lots for children to do, they have a swimming pool, games room and play park etc. Only a short 20 min walk into St Ives though during our stay the camp site provided a bus service into the town. We paid £11per night during the week and £16 for the fri and sat night. Well worth a visit!
