Great location.
Reception staff extremely welcoming and it seems they have a handout to answer every conceivable query.
Huge pitches most of which are divided by well clipped four foot high hedges.
I’d advise looking at their website, choosing a pitch and then ringing to ask whether it suits your requirements. I got exactly what I asked for this way. The staff are very helpful.
Looking at the site plan, Morvah and Rosewall are the highest points and can get very windy. The right hand corner of Morvah which abuts Rosewall is up on a hump, so even higher.
Most pitches which face the left hand side of your screen will have a sea view (there are houses inbetween the site and the sea so it’s not uninterrupted). The site slopes gently away from here and most pitches are flat. Giew and Geevor are probably the most wind-protected fields as they are lower.
Rosewall is hardstanding with motorhomes parked in terraces – not very appealing really. It looks like a car park.
The facilities are outstandingly clean. The pool area is lovely as is the conservatory by the Stable bar – a pleasant place serving local beers and average food. Five minutes walk down the road will take you to the Halestown Inn – a speciality “pie pub”. That is worth a visit.
The shop is your basic campsite shop. Tesco in Carbis Bay is 5-7 minutes drive away.
If you’re relying on freezer blocks this can become quite expensive. Each block freeze is 50p so if the weather’s hot and if you have four and you’re changing them twice a day, this can mount up substantially over a fortnight. Customer’s own blocks cannot be frozen. (Their sister site up the road, Little Trevarrack, freezes campers own free of charge. Why the difference?)
The site is beautifully maintained so much so that it appears manicured and for me, this has destroyed any natural beauty of the site. It was quite a relief to go through the gate into the small field to walk down to St Ives. The cleaning of each pitch is great but if the hedges and shrubs could be allowed a little more ‘freedom’ it would be less like camping in someone’s back garden.

This has been our 5th yr here now, we love it. After stumbling across this site by accident we have returned again and again. Everyone we meet there always seem to come back, so much so we now book a yr in advance as we leave.
You pick your pitch on the web site and as already said they are surrounded 3 ways by a hedge lovely touch. We have found our favourite and always go to that one, I think most ppl do.
Toilets/showers immaculate and plenty of these modern blocks around the site, with some having family rooms which is like having your own bathroom.
Bar is very nice next to the park with a gate to it so the kids can go play. A very minor blemish is it would be nice to have more in the park for the kids.
The site can get a bit windy but that's all because of where you are. But if you walk down to St Ives you will find it sheltered 9 times out of 10. What a lovely walk down to.
All in all the best camp site we have ever gone to and many more years we will be going to.

Throughout as has been mentioned already, the toilet blocks were immaculate and cleaned many times during the day/evening. The staff were all exceptionally pleasant and glad to help us, and the bar area was clean, welcoming and served good beer (alongside some fine fayre, albeit a bit pricey some might say).
The pool area was amongst the best we've seen, however the pool temperature could have done with being increased a degree or two as many complained of it being a bit chilly. There is so much to see and do in the St Ives area notwithstanding the great local beaches that we found ourselves only just squeezing in the 'must dos' before we sadly had to say goodbye.
Of note, the Paradise Park facility just 10 mins drive away was one of the highlights of our stay. Tremendous displays of wildlife in action along with soft play and other adventurous stuff for our children to be getting on with (Aged 8 & 5).
Plus Points: Extremely clean throughout; beautiful landscaped park with well manicured lawns and colourful borders; excellent ablutions and showers - the best we've seen - spotless!; pleasant games room and great bar/dining area; plenty of low-key but quality entertainment in the evening for young/old alike.
Negatives: Cool pool!; No swings - in fact a pretty poor (albeit immaculately well kept) play area for older children. Young children are well catered for in a toddler section.
One of the best we have visited, and we have already booked for next year!

Well worth travelling 400 miles,
Reception very helpful and explained everything fully including bus time tables, walking routes and local attraction information.
On reaching our pitch which we were allowed to choose prior on booking we noticed how clean and tidy the pitch was.
We were very impressed to see that after every departure the pitches are inspected the grass cut and prepared for the next visitor.
The swimming pool area although we did not use was of good size and very clean.
The shower blocks were always immaculate and had free hairdryers and sockets to enable you to use your own.
The launderette again was clean and the ironing facilities were free of charge. Food in the restaurant was reasonably priced and always tasty.
Unfortunately the only two negatives were the bad weather and that we had only booked a week. Although may not be next year we will hopefully revisit this site in the future.

Just returned from our holiday at the wonderful Polmanter Tourist Park and have already booked for next year! We've stayed at quite a few of the Best of British sites now and this one is just as good (if not even better) as all of the others we've visited.
Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, site is always clean and has that great combination of being really family friendly without feeling overrun with kids. The general area has so much to do but we somehow managed to visit very few places at all as our children were so happy visiting the many fantastic beaches. Overall we had a fantastic holiday and can't wait to come back next year.
Plus points: Great pitches - many of which are absolutely huge, great staff, very clean, lovely pool, good facilities.
Minus points: No mops in loos resulting in the ladies' floor occasionally being covered in hair, Cafe/bar not open in the daytime - a couple of times we would have liked to have had a snack while the kids were swimming. (These are very minor points for us though and should not put anybody off from visiting this great site. )
Strange point: One thing we can't get our heads round is the fact that the Plassey (also a BOB site) allows scooters and skateboards but not bikes and yet Polmanter allows bikes but not scooters and skateboards???

What a beautiful site.
We camped the first week of the main summer holidays and the site was full but it never felt crowded.
Everything was spotless - the toilets and showers were fantastic and clean, and although I did see some people waiting, I seemed to time it right and always got a shower cubicle straight away.
The lawns, gardens, park and swimming pool are were very well maintained. All of the staff were very friendly and more than helpful.
You can walk into St Ives (about 20 mins) and there is a bus back to the site every hour (£3. 50 for a family of 4) - the last bus was at around 11pm.
The pitches did vary a little in size - but are all a great size with lovely views of the sea in the distance.
There is so much to do in the area - we had joined the National Trust so made the most of it whilst we were there. There are also fantastic coves and beaches all near by.
We didn't try the pub food on the site so cannot comment on that.
We would go back - and could spend 2 weeks there due to the fantastic location and the excellent amenities.

We have stayed on this site on two occasions and have really enjoyed it. It is kept very clean and tidy and the staff are always very helpful. It has a nice swimming pool that is at the Side of a long conservatory which is where you can sit and have a drink. There is a bar where you can order food which was very nice.
The toilets and showers are kept very clean and are well lit and warm. You can walk down into st Ives which takes about 20 minutes down a steep lane, but there is a bus you can catch back to the site from st Ives. We spoke to a few people on the site who come back year after year, that says a lot to me. I highly recommend this site.

This was our sixth visit to polmanter and as always it was fantastic. I love everything about the site and the area. All the facilities you need are to hand.
Showers and loos are spotless and warm. Site shop stocks all the essentials. Pool was warm and clean. Food in stable bar was really good and had the bonus of being able to take dogs into the conservatory area.
St ives town is easily walkable from site if you are relatively fit (its downhill going but uphill coming back) but there's a great bus service too running to and from site for £1. 40.
Cant wait to return

All sites should come and look at this model. It is perfect. Quite simply the best, by some way, that I have experienced.
I make no apologies for scoring all tens but it is just that good. I will definitely return like so many others I spoke to there, some returning for over twenty years. I soon could see why they do.
The pitches, staff, facilities were terrific. The food in the bar/complex was great value for money and it is a lovely setting to eat in. 5 mins by an hourly bus from St. Ives and a 15 min drive to Penzance makes everything you need within easy reach, we took a day trip to The Scilly Isles from there. That said if you don't leave the site there is plenty to do with the swimming, tennis and walks around the area. If you haven't tried it please do. You will not be disappointed. Thanks to all the staff who made our stay so good.

This was our initiation into the world of camping
We're hooked.
Polmanter is a fantastic site in our limited opinion.
We arrived at the site only to be refused access at the gate, due to us not following the instructions at the top of the drive, park up and register you car registration, once registered, a camera recognises your reg and allows access, great security, the wife loved that.
The lady on reception was friendly, welcoming and informative.
We found our pitch with ease, it was huge, even with the car parked next to the tent there was loads of space.
The facilities at the park were faultless, the toilet and showers immaculate and never seemed to be dirty at anytime of the day, the pot washing room was also of the same standard.
The kids were left to their own devices (although warned to behave) and never once did we worry about them.
The bar with its menu was great and a lovely atmosphere.
As I said this was our first camping trip and it may of spoilt us, we love St Ives anyway, but the weather was kind enough, the site and campers on it great, and best of all not at work.
We will definitely return to Polmanter and would recommend the site to any one.
