August 2004 Excellent site! Went for two weeks in August and is the best site we have been on. The whole site is well maintained and well run. The toilets and showers are kept very clean. A major plus for this site is that you can walk into st,ives, it takes about twenty mins to half an hour, down a country lane, if you`ve ever tried to park there you`ll know what I mean! unless you're fit catch the bus back up! If you walk down at night for a drink, you`ll pass the pedn-olva hotel, sit on the roof terrace and enjoy the fantastic views! We have booked again for next year!

September 2004 Having read the other reports I was dissapointed.... We booked in for 2 nights the swimming pool, bar, restaurant, games room and shop were all closed !!!
The toilet/shower block was very clean but cold in the mornings and night and both mornings there was no hot water in the wash hand basins.

July 2004 Her indoors is really picky about site selection to the extent that we lost an £80 deposit on a site we were going to visit until we read reviews on discovery of this web site. Polmanter lived up to her high expectations and is as described in previous reviews. I agree in that I think that the shower/toilet facilities would be strained come the full summer holidays.(although I experienced no Q’s in the 10th -24th July 2004 period of visiting) Site is really clean and the facilities appear to be second to none. Kids used the pool almost daily and they have an adult only time slot every day!! Owners are very helpful, and the security was very reassuring. The walk across the fields and single track (virtually unused) road down to St Ives was fabulous and the bus service back very reliable and reasonably priced (also saved the legs as the site is situated quite high up from St Ives). Being a popular site repeat bookings are common so I think that early booking for peak times would be advisable. This was our first trip down to Cornwall with a caravan (normally go to the east coast and Wales) and would return to this site without hesitation. We stayed on Giew 166 and found it to be quite sheltered, great views down towards St Ives, without much site traffic.

August 2004 We have just returned from our first holiday at Polmanter after reading the excellent reviews here, I'm pleased to say we were not dissapointed. The site was clean and tidy, friendly staff, food inside was excellent as was the entertainment, our four year old loved the clowns while we sat nearby finishing our meal. The bus into St Ives is a big bonus as we did attempt to park in St Ives one day but gave up and caught the bus instead! It is an easy 20 minute walk into St Ives aswell. We had rain everyday but still loved Polmanter and St Ives and found lots to do, would also particuarly recommened Paradise Park as a day out. The only thing about Polmanter that we would change would be to let you refreeze your own ice blocks as you have to hire them from the site so if your going dont bother taking your own. We will be going again next year when we will try the swimmimg pool as we just didnt have time this year!

August 2004 This site is the cleanest site we have been to yet. We visited here when Cornwall had the tropical storm! It rained more or less for the whole week, yet everywhere including the showers were in superb condition. The tent pitches were a good size 10mx10m minimum so those with big tents like ourselves were ok. We will certainly be visiting again next year.

August 2004 Before visiting this site I thought the reviews might be too good to be true, I was wrong! I cannot find fault with this site. The pool area is lovely and not overcrowded (they even have adult only swimming sessions between 9am and 10am every morning). Showers, toilets and washing up areas were all spotless and the site was full when we were there. Very nice bar and restaurant with a lovely conservatory area overlooking pool. Meals were very nice, service good and prices reasonable. Good entertainment. Handy bus service to and from site during peak season to St Ives. Well stocked shop. Generally quiet at night but they also have a night warden who "doesn't take any messing"! Wouldn't hesitate to return to this site again.

July 2004 As has been said before, this place is great. Have just come back from a week long stay which I booked after reading reviews here. Showers, toilets, washing up rooms were all spotless, staff were excellent, and food was great. Pitches were perfect; we stayed on ‘Morvah’.
Just a couple of things to mention; the breakfasts available are great, but the wait during our stay was around 40 – 45 minutes. I understand this is because the food has been farmed out to a third party catering company and they only employ one chef to do the breakfasts. The same company do the evening meals but service is much quicker – all food served to an excellent standard.
Also, the site is quite high up and during spells of changeable weather strong winds can come rattling up the fields. We were next to the corner pitch at the top end of the site and had to keep the tent zipped up for most of the week. Some of the others areas on the site offer much better shelter which is worth bearing in mind when booking if you know the weather could be iffy.

June 2003 I can not find one fault with this caravan site. Toilets, showers, bar, games room, swimming pool, shop, playground, take away, restaurant, laundry, everything is catered for, especially the lockers built into the shower walls. Everything was spotlessly clean, staff very helpful and accommodating and an excellent family shower room with baby baths and temperature controlled showers for the kids. The pitches are very bit and separated by small hedges, all very well presented. We absolutely loved it, as did our kids, aged 5, 2 and 6 months. I would recommend it to anyone.

August 2003 As original review and agree totally with Malcolm above. This place is absolutely spotless. Cannot fault anything about it. During high season there is a hourly bus service from the site down to St. Ives. This year we ate on the site and the food was delicious and well priced. The games room is also monitored all the time straight to a screen on the bar.

August 2003 A very nice site just a few minutes drive from St. Ives – but out in the country. Spread over six fields, large pitches separated by small hedges. We were on “Morvah” – the non-electric field. Good toilets and showers in three separate areas. Decent heated pool, shop, bar & take-away. During the peak season there was some entertainment laid on each week night (magician, karaoke, laser clay pigeon shooting, trampolining). The site also laid on a very popular bus service into St. Ives.
The site was very quiet from 11pm to 8am with a resident night warden as well as very friendly reception staff during the day. We will definitely return.
