We stayed here for 4 nights just after Easter. It was fairly expensive at £16.00 pr night for a tent with electric and nothing was open on site. Not the swimming pool. Take away, restaurant or the shop. The toilet/shower block was very nice and there were smaller shower rooms for families which was nice. Its quite a walk into St Ives and we were not offered a bus or anything so ended up having to take the car. One word of caution beware of the seagulls at this site they will take your food! Probably ok in the main summer season but not out of season. Handy for the boat to the Scilly Isles as only 15 mins to penzance.

This turned out to be our last camping holiday as we've recently bought a caravan, and what a fantastic site we chose! Polmanter is the best site we've visited. Although it has 220-odd pitches, the layout means you only see perhaps 20+ pitches around you, and that makes it a very cosy site. All the facilities are excellent, the whole site is clean and well maintained. Pitches are generously sized and well laid out. You can walk into St Ives along footpaths and country lanes, but having done it once it's so easy to take the bus into town that walking loses it's appeal! In season there is a bus shuttle direct to town every hour from the site entrance - it's just too easy. You do need to book early for a space at Polmanter, but it's more than worth it. The local area does get busy in the high season but so do lots of places not half as nice as this. Loads of history around you, (some quaint, some very industrial and grey) great beaches and rugged cliffs. The beauty of W Cornwall is that often if it's dull weather on the north side then it'll be sunny on the south, or visa-versa. BBC Cornwall for forecasts. Spend an afternoon on the coast path between Sennen Cove and Land's End watching basking sharks swimming below you, or join the throng in St Ives eating ice cream round the harbour. Beautiful area, fantastic camp site, highly recommended. We're definitely going back, see you there.

My sister has just returned from a 5 day stay at Polmanter and is already looking at booking another stay there next year. The campsite is very clean and the staff are very friendly. There is plenty to do for the children, including a heated (80 degrees) swimming pool with paddling area for the younger children, a children's play area, tennis courts, table tennis and a good sized games room. There is also a large field for the children to play on which is especially good for flying kites. This field is well used as there are no ball games allowed around the pitches. The pitches are of a very good size, she was able to pitch a 6 man tent including the car side by side with plenty of space around. She has never been to a site with pitches this large, and she was on one of the smaller ones. You can walk down to St Ives which is about a mile walk, although this is a very nice walk, you would not be able to do this with a pushchair or if you had walking difficulties as it is over fields and down a narrow dirt track. Alternatively, you can use the frequent bus service that runs throughout the day from the site into the heart of St Ives. This costs 80p for adults and 30p for children. Her only criticism of the site is the lighting at night. There are lights dotted around but not enough to light up where you are walking, hence the fact that my sister fell over a speed hump! Make sure you take a good torch with you. You are not allowed onto the pitches until 11am, but if you arrive before this there is a large grassed area for you to park up on. You can use this when you leave as well or you can pay £10 to be able to stay on your pitch until 6pm. Overall, this was a fantastic holiday with plenty to do in and around St Ives, just be careful of the seagulls pinching your food!

Hi 2nd year running at this site and was as pleased as ever, although I found it to be overrun with caravans this year and not so many tents. Nice new play area next to restauarant, and have to say food was great had the eve combo for 16 pounds which was great plenty for four or even six. I have already booked again for next year, as its so close to amenities and a great base for Cornwall.

Just returned from a week here for the 3rd year running. Excellent site, all facilities spotless at all times and plenty of them even in Peak season didn't have to queue. Lovely walk to St. Ives and regular bus service back. Kids loved the new play area. Didn't eat in conservatory this year as menu had changed and didn't seem as good as usual. One little nag, the shop is supposed to open at 8.30 am and it never opened on time the whole week we were there. The delivery arrived at about 8.40am and then shop opened as goods being put on shelves leading to very busy shop, long queue and all for some fresh milk! St. Ives as beautiful as ever with lots to do day and night-very busy and need to book meals well in advance. Beware of the seagulls in town as they will swoop for your ice-cream! Only thing was the weather-not as warm and sunny as usual and got a little cool in the tent at nights. Remains our favourite site though and will return.

This was our second visit to Polmanter and again we had a wonderful week, the new toilet and shower block was excellent, we also got to use the baby changing facility this time as we have a new addition and although at the opposite end of the site to us, the baby baths(large deep sinks) were excellent, with plenty of space around to put towel, nappy, clothes etc. The only thing we were slightly disappointed with this time was the children's entertainment, last time there was a clown show and puppet show, only for an hour twice a week, but it was a real bonus, so we could sit and eat our meal while the kids were entertained, but the new playground this year, right by the conservatory, made up for it, so we were all happy. We will be going again next year and thoroughly recommend Polmanter.

Just got back from this fantastic site usually stay in a cottage in st Ive's but we are so glad we tried this, the pitches are very spacious and level arrived very early so had to park up for a few hours but you can get a take away breakfast very cheap! the toilet and showers are very well maintained (new ones) my 9 year old used the pool and park every day. Great bus service into st Ive's only 70p for adults and 35p for the kids well worth it we were very lucky with the weather on the beach every day so didn't go in the bar but it does look very nice what else can I say was our best camping experience yet and are booking for next year

toilets very clean and tidy loads of hot water even a family shower area.
nice pool and tennis courts also putting green, nice bar which also served food in large conservatory.
very handy bus service in high season to st Ives town they claim its only a 20 minute walk, but you can double that good job its all down hill
very good site would recommend it .

We have just returned from a week at Polmanter and cannot recommend this site highly enough. The campsite is beautifully kept, the staff are incredibly helpful and the facilities are of the highest standard. The night warden makes you feel very secure at night. We had a huge Morvah pitch (which was very lucky as we have the ever popular Montana 6 with canopy) that was slightly sloping but probably one of the best pitches we have ever camped on. Although a very big size, the site seems very intimate due to the division of the land into separate areas. We took full advantage of the site bus to St Ives which runs each hour (apart from between 12.00 and 14.00) until nearly midnight so we are able to avoid the nightmare of trying to park in St Ives. There is a Tesco about 2 miles away in Carbis Bay which was extremely handy. There are also a number of restaurant pubs nearby if you do not feel like cooking. We would particularly recommend The Lamb and Flag on the A30 between Hayle and Penzance. The best beach is Carbis Bay which has some parking (would advise an early start during the school holidays) and facilities. Being on the coast it was quite misty a lot of the time with sea mists rolling in at night and early in the morning.

We were expecting great things from this site after reading the reviews on here. The pool is great, shower block superb and the bar is ok, however there was something here that was just not right and we are still unable to put our finger on it. The shop was barely stocked and the bar quite pricey. we came to the conclusion that this site is good for caravaners as there were alot of them but not many tents and we seemed to get looked down upon and this is the first time we have experienced this. The thing that topped this of was that at 10 to 10 on departure day in hot conditions we were doing our best to pack up and we were being chased off the pitch by the warden and the lawnmower man. Come on be reasonable. Why not stop people arriving so damn early so can be more reasonable to those who have just paid lost of cash for the weeks stay All in all this was ok but we will not be going back as we have stayed at better sites with cheaper and better facilities and most of all a nice atmosphere.
