What a wonderful site!
The location is great, with a nice walk down to St Ives through a lane so not much traffic. The pitches are great. We had a huge one with nice little dividing hedges which didn't block any light but made it feel a bit more private.
The showers and toilets were very clean. The shop had everything you could need and some delicious pastries that I could have done without! The pool was nice and clean.
I loved St. Ives although they seem to have very aggressive seagulls and the shops are very expensive.
The harbour is very pretty and doesn't have the pong I usually associate with them. The beaches in the area are fantastic and there are loads of places to visit.
I have nothing bad whatsoever to say about this site and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone that would like a quiet, clean holiday.
If you're looking for kids entertainment and playparks this might not be so great for you but my kids were both very happy.

This is a classic example of 'you get what you pay for' It really is a 5 star site and lives up to that accolade.
It rained every day during our stay but not a speck of mud in sight. The take away Fish & chips are a delight worthy of any high street, likewise the bar and restaurant, all of excellent quality.
The pub at the bottom of the road is also well worth a visit and both children and dog friendly. The dog walk is superb again no mud.
Staff are friendly and efficient, the shop very good and stocks most essentials.
All in All thoroughly recommended. One last thing though, some pitches are a bit 'slopey' so it's worth bringing some levellers.

This is a superb site.
I have been using it yearly now for 10 years, usually in July, but having now retired came a bit earlier this year.
The site is always immaculate, and every year facilities have been upgraded where necessary indicating that the Osborne family who own it are dedicated and go to great lengths to keep it top notch.
The bar/restaurant is located nicely at the edge of the heated outdoor pool and is very well stocked with drinks, having local real ales as well as all the usual lines. The food is freshly prepared when ordered and is delightful. The menu has been extended this year to include local fish etc. Including lobster if required (to order).
Facilities include tennis courts, play areas, take away and a sports field at the entrance for the more energetic, and of course the pool.
The water & waste water points are plentiful and well distributed.
There is a dedicated frequent bus service which runs from the site to St Ives where parking is very limited, also just down the road a park and ride train runs and passes through Carbis Bay with superb views.
I regularly try new areas to visit but this remains the very best site that has everything, and, as yet, have not found another that comes up to this standard.
In a word. Perfect!

Spent 7 nights here during Whitsun School Holiday so as expected the site was full, mostly with families in a mix of Tents, Motorhomes and Caravans.
Our party consisted of 2 adults 3 children and 1 infant. We were made to feel very welcome by all staff at all times. The communal facilities we're spotless and well appointed.
The site shop was well stocked and the prices were reasonable, ice block hire was a nice addition.
The campsite pub was excellent having a good choice of local real ales and standard lagers, a decent cask cider wouldn't go amiss though. Entertainment in the pub conservatory was consistently good and well run. Food served in the pub was very good.
Very well looked after Heated Outdoor pool.
The pitches are all large well drained and a lot are fully serviced. Most are bounded on 3 sides by hedges giving privacy and helping as wind breaks. The site is windy and additional windbreaks and decent tent pegs are a must.
So why only 4 stars and not 5 - well I'm afraid that's due to night-time noise. There are a lot of children on site of all ages (including my 4 !) however despite the playgrounds supposedly closing at 21:00 they were still being used by teenagers as gathering areas well into the night, and despite the best efforts of the night staff the problem did not go away.
But on the whole a very good site, excellent for families and a good base for Exploring the West of Cornwall.

This has got to be one of the nicest sites we've ever camped at. It's in a beautiful spot quite near St Ives.
The staff were friendly and helpful and even opened up the little shop for me out of hours for an emergency purchase.
Everywhere was absolutely spotless. The toilet/shower blocks were immaculate as was the laundry room and dishwash area. The grounds are beautifully landscaped.
There is a smashing, well-stocked pub/restaurant on site which overlooks a lovely outdoor pool area. We ate there each night of our visit and the food was spot-on! Delicious and not overpriced compared to those in St Ives. We stayed for the quiz night which was great fun. I also like that they have separate family and adults only areas.
I actually can't think of anything negative about this place other than, it would be nice if the restaurant could open for breakfast every day instead of just weekends.

We are Aussies touring round the UK for 6 months. I would have to agree with previous reviews. We think that this site is the best so far. It is a large tiered site with a mix of grass and hard standing. We were right at the top with sea views but it was a bit windy. Reception staff were very friendly and check in was easy. The pitches were very spacious.
The site facilities are brilliant. There is a bar, family room and restaurant with entertainment some nights. We really enjoyed the bar and the food was good and reasonable price.
The toilet and shower block is very clean with lots of hot water.
The Laundry has several washers and dryers and is heated.
There is a well stocked shop on site.
There is also a pub a short walk down the road although we didn't go. Having read the previous review I wish we had! Maybe next time.
It is an easy 30 minute walk into St Ives. Contrary to some previous reviews we didn't find the walk back too hard and we are 55+.
Good TV, phone and internet reception.
There is a bus runs from the site hourly until 11 pm. We used this at night and enjoyed St Ives by night. We went for a drink at the The Kettle 'n Wink bar across the road from where the bus stops for a quick drink until the 10 O'Clock bus came. We had such a good time we missed the bus and only just made the 11 pm one. It's just a small pub and there were a group of around 16 people all with guitars, flute, accordian etc taking it in turns to sing and play along. Very casual but great atmosphere. Then the bar staff brought out a big tray of delicious roast potato's. It was the best night we have had in ages.
We will definitely be back to this site.
One word of warning though do NOT follow GPS directions. It took us along Laity Lane. This is a very long narrow lane. In parts it was only just big enough for our twin axil caravan. We were very lucky we did not damage the caravan. Goodness knows what would have happened if we had met another vehicle coming the other way!

Polmanter is great campsite. Was a bit worried as I was taking my 11 month baby for our first camping trip.
So the highlight for me was brand new shower block with special baby room and baby bath. Was spotless, my boy ended up having bath every day. Site was very quiet at night, after 10 pm no noise at all. Pitches big and level.
Walk to St Ives good for prams ( fist 100m a bit difficult and you have to lift pram over few stony steps after that its fine), walk to Carbis Bay as well, very nice but extremely steep. Ended up taking train from Carbis Bay into St Ives and then walked back.
Did enjoyed it so much, am already looking to book for next year!

The site was brilliant and the views were stunning.
The staff were so friendly and welcoming. There was a bus into the lovely seaside town of St Ives and also a bus stop outside the entrance. Also the pool was lovely and refreshing and the children's entertainment was so good and also the toilet block was very high standard and in a pleasant location of the site.
Also this is a must for children and adults alike and of all ages.
The receptionist was very friendly and she also gave us the bus route to St Ives.

This is the best site we have been on in years. The showers and toilets are very clean and modern and well heated.
The site has a well stocked shop and a fantastic bar and Restaurant, serving very good quality food.
The pitches are large and well kept.
And there is a nice walk into St Ives, which takes about 25 mins.
I also have to mention all the staff who are very friendly and helpful.
Just outside the sites gate is a great pub which has just been very nicely modernised. It serves plenty of real ales and and has great food including many varieties of pies.

Found this campsite by accident after booking another site and turning up to find it dreadful, Polmanter by total contrast is one of the best sites I have ever stayed on. From initial contact to check availability to checking into the site everything was very professional and friendly. The pitches are absolutely huge and immaculately prepared. Toilets and showers are heated and spotless. If you want to walk into St Ives its all downhill and takes about 20 minutes (I`d suggest a taxi back up for £6.00). As others have said it is quite high up and exposed so a bit windy, but I`ve been on worse, if you're going to St Ives check this site out, its superb
