Stopped here with a folding camper for 5 nights to visit the Cotswolds and the surrounding area. Although not a usual destination for a short break, we found that there was plenty to do in the area. We visited Cheltenham, Gloucester, toured the Cotswold villages and went a walk around one of the most haunted villages in England.
The campsite itself is very well placed - close to Asda, Home Bargains, B&Q, Harvester and KFC, as well as bus stops and Park & Ride. Yes, the site is next to the A40, and there is some road noise, but we did not find it disturbed us. The helicopters and aeroplanes also created a bit of noise during the day, but nothing disturbing.
The site itself is very peaceful from about 9pm to9am - lovely ! Mainly filled with older couples in motorhomes, this suited us. There was no entertainment for kids, no park or anything, but the ones there made their own entertainment. There are now 5 showers available, as there has been an extension built. Whenever I went for a shower there was nobody else in there. Everything was clean and the owners were very friendly.
My only criticism is the rigidity of the pitches, it does look a bit like a car park (or caravan and motorhome park). But the pitches were well spaced, so not an issue of being too close, just repetitive. The ground was very sandy under the gravel, so our pegs didn't stay in so well, luckily it wasn't windy. We also found the gravel area for the awning was lower than the concrete for our camper, which didn't help with the pegs. I guess we could have moved pitches but didn't seem a big enough deal for the upheaval.
There were also some great RV's on this site - great to look at and dream of owning, but I wouldn't like to have been pitched next to one!

We stayed the week for the Cheltenham festival. Good maintained site with heated and clean shower facilities. A s small site in comparison with some but we found it friendly.
Ideally located for Cheltenham town, a short bus ride away from the quaint shops and not too far away from the Races. Would recommend this site and we are going back next year for the festival.

Generally this is a very good site. It is well located on the outskirts of Cheltenham making it ideal to explore that town and also Gloucester. I believe that the bus connections to both are excellent although I drove to both. It is easily accessible from the M5 and also has good local amenities having takeaways, restaurants and shops within close walking distance.
The site itself is well looked after with friendly and helpful wardens. Most of the caravan pitches consist of a hard concrete base with an adjoining gravelled area for an awning. The toilet and shower building was clean and tidy and whilst we were there they were actually building an extension to it which could improve availability which might be a problem in peak periods.
So a very good site to either serve as a base for exploring the area or as a stop-off on the way elsewhere. There's only one problem. Because of the location there is quite a lot of traffic noise and I don't know if it was my imagination but the incidence of emergency services sirens seemed very prevalent in Cheltenham. The noise might reduce in summer when the leaves provide some sound deadening but if you want peace and quiet, this is probably not a site for you.

A pleasant site centrally located, with very helpful owners. Extra showers were being installed ( Jan 2014). Each pitch has hard standing and electricity for caravans/ motor homes. Easy disposal of grey water and plenty of water points. Good security ( barrier with key- £10 returnable deposit). Buses outside run every 10 mins. Handy for M5. Noise from traffic and small planes but we would still return to this site.
Unable to comment on child friendliness - as we are a couple with no children but it is a site near a city.

We have visited this site on numerous occasions with our motorhome and previously in a trailer tent. The owners and staff are always friendly and helpful. The buses are brilliant every ten minutes right outside the site to Cheltenham and Gloucester. We sometimes walk into Cheltenham which takes less than half a hour. The motorhome drive over emptying point that has been recently installed is really helpful with water for washing out the tank + drinking water all in the same place. The toilet and shower block is always warm and clean. It does need more showers for busy periods but I am told that these are going to be installed shortly. One of the reasons we like this site is you don't need a car with pub restaurant KFC and supermarket all less than a 15 min walk + a barrier that makes everything secure. One of the minuses is if you have children I have not seen any play areas for them.

We have visited this campsite several times over the past two years. The owners always make us welcome and provide information when needed. The location is superb for visiting Cheltenham and the races, but the real gem is the superb indian restaurant just a short walk down the road. The facilities are very clean, and prices very fair compared to other sites we use during the year. Every time we return you can see the owners are trying to work to improve the surroundings and the majority of people I have spoken to seem very impressed with their efforts.

Handy site for stopover, good hardstandings, terrible road noise as so close to motorway, chemical toilet disposal in poor state, toilets and shower rooms look good from outside but disappointing inside only 2 showers. Went to use the ladies at 9. 20am and they were closed for cleaning ! had to use the one and only disabled toilet/shower room, decided not to shower as I didn't want to take up to much time in there in case other people needed the loo, if site was full then closing facilities this early is not good as that's when they are at there busiest. Wouldn't use again

Located this site through UKCampsite.co.uk and thought we'd give it a try on our first visit to Gloucester. Our main reason for choosing Briarfields was the easy access to both Cheltenham and Gloucester by bus. The bus stop is literally outside the gate and buses run every 10 minutes or every 15 on a Sunday.
When we arrived after a not very good drive from the Shepton Mallet show, we received a really warm welcome. Scott gave us a lot of information regarding the local area, nothing was to much trouble. We were given a nice pitch just inside the site and were easily able to pick up wifi.
The site is very well laid out, with plenty of room. The toilets and showers are very clean, there is a laundry room and dish washing area.
The traffic noise is not intrusive when in the van, but may be a bit noisy if you're not used to busy roads. Plenty of local shops, Asda quite near.
We are looking forward to visiting Cheltenham tomorrow for a bit of retail therapy.
All in all a nice site in a good location. Will definitely return and recommend to friends. 9/10.

Good hard pitches with a very welcoming host on arrival. In the van the road noise was minimal.
I note they have/getting permission for new Loos etc. Definitely needed as only 2 showers in mens and Ladies. Open sinks facing toilets rather than cubicles is out of date - we like privacy. Hope this is in the new plans.
One of the most convenient sites I have used for access to town, supermarkets, but with a pleasant environment.
We will definitely use it again although will avoid 'busy times' in the summer because of showers etc.

Just left Briarfields after a three night stay.
On arrival they couldn’t have been more helpful, directing us to our large level pitch.
We only use sites with easy access to places of interest either by public transport or on foot and here the bus stops to either Gloucester or Cheltenham couldn’t have been nearer.
Wi-fi on site is patchy and sometimes the signal disappeared completely (briefly).
Road noise is significant but to be honest the dawn chorus (4. 30am!) was much louder.
Their toilet block was always clean (and empty!) when I showered around 10am, and the lack of private washbasins for me wasn’t really a problem.
On our last night at around 11. 30pm I had gone to clean my teeth in the toilet block when I bumped into someone mopping the floor! Impressed!
It was he who told me that they have planning permission and intend to build more showers for both men and women in the near future.
I’ll be back.
