Just spent the last weekend at Briarfields Touring Park in our touring caravan to attend the Cheltenham Jazz Festival. Excellent site. Great location for Cheltenham and Gloucester and surrounding area, very good public transport links. Very neat and tidy layout, all hard standings so ideal for wet weather. Nice clean and warm washrooms with plenty of hot water. Good value at £17 per night. Easy to get to, just off junction 11 on the M5. Very friendly owners, nice warm welcome and nothing too much trouble. Our first visit but we will be back!

We visited the site on a Bank Holiday weekend and thought it was a well positioned campsite. You can hop on a bus to Cheltenham, Gloucester and Oxford. It's also a short drive away to pretty Cotswold villages such as Burford and Cotswold Wildlife Park.
You can walk to an Indian restaurant, Pavillion - don't be deceived by how quiet it is. The service was great and the food was really nice. We enjoyed it that much that we went twice over 3 nights. Would highly recommend. You can also walk to ASDA if you fancy a last minute BBQ. There is also the Harvester pub within 5 minutes - we went for a fry up one morning. Fine if you don't mind waiting but we wouldn't go back there given the choice.
Our friends joined us in a tent and we were pleased that they could camp close by.
The toilet block was always spotless and I liked the fact that they had sink cubicles for some privacy. I did wait for a shower on both mornings so the site would benefit from extra showers but I didn't wait long and it wouldn't put me off going again.
It's a pretty little site with a very friendly welcome and great value for money. Our pitch was visited regularly by robins - they were very tame. We will definitely be back. Lovely site - not commercialised and very easy to find from the motorway. Yes there is a little bit of road noise but it certainly didn't bother us.

Great site on the outskirts of Cheltenham, pub and indian restaurant in walking distance, local public transport outside of camp entrance given access to all local area including Gloucester. The site suffers from road noise given its location to A40 and needs to consider a 2nd shower block as only 2 showers in each wash room leads to queues in the mornings. The owners could not be more helpful and were very helpful having a good knowledge of the local area and whats going on. There are no facilities for children other than the tenting field which could be interesting during the peak months.
There is a caravan sales/spares dealership just 1. 5 miles from the site should they be needed.

Been using this site for a few years now even before the owners who have got it now. Has always been very clean and tidy and very friendly. Clean shower block and toilets plus the disabled toilet
Is always spotless. There's no shop on site but have two supermarkets with in 5-10 minuets away by car and a paper shop only a few minutes walk away. The owners are very friendly and help you with anything you want to know. The bus stop is right out side the site that goes into the centre of Cheltenham town.
Only 10 minutes from the motorway and very handy stop if you are going on down to Devon, Cornwall and Poole in Dorset like we do as it's a half way down for us as we come from Yorkshire.
All the hard standings are level and a really nice place for the tent at the centre of the site. And it's dog friendly.

Have just returned from a 3 night stay at Briarfields, having chosen the site on the strength of the ratings it got here. However we were not as impressed as everyone else seemed to be.
PROS:
Location to Cheltenham with a very impressive bus service that runs every 10 minutes (15 mins on Sunday) into the centre of the town.
Location to a Harvester and a KFC.
Site is well laid out, plenty of space, most pitches having a hardstanding, gravel for awning PLUS a grassy patch.
Owners informative and helpful.
CONS:
(and this would stop us returning)
Bearing in mind this site can take 70 caravan/motorhomes AND 20 tents and it was virtually full when we were there, there are TWO showers for the ladies and TWO for the men.
There were only THREE washbasins and the men's block had no privacy curtains on theirs.
Queueing for a wash or shower was the norm every morning.
Not only us, many other campers commented on this also.

Just returned from a few days at this very pretty and well laid out site. It is a credit to the owners. We visited in 2010 and the site was splendid then, now it is even better with the landscaping work that has been carried out. All the pitches are spacious and easy to guide even the largest of caravans or motorhomes into. The toilets and shower facilities block is one of the cleanest and warmest we have ever come across. The site is easily placed for travelling around the area especially for those who want to use public transport. The bus stops for Cheltenham and Gloucester are right outside the campsite entrance. From either of these places you can get further afield. There is a convenience shop and post office in walking distance and an ASDA supermarket just a few minutes drive away. The site itself is just 5 minutes drive from Junction 11 of the M5 which makes access to it very convenient when travelling from the North or South. For anyone wishing to stay with friends or relatives and not stay in the caravan or Motorhome the site also boasts a Motel at very reasonable prices. This site deserves 5 stars.

Just spent two fantastic nights on this park and as for the owners they are the most friendly helpful and hard working people you could ever wish to meet. There have been comments about the male and female toilet and showers, yes this is true and this could be change very soon and no matter what I will be booking again very soon. As for eating and shopping there is plenty and there is a park and ride just by B&Q.

A very friendly family-run place, open all year, with free WiFi. ACSI discount for certain dates.
The site is ideally placed for visiting Cheltenham or Gloucester - both served by regular bus from near the gates (free with over 60s bus pass - as is the longer ride to Oxford). Open all year, easily accessible from the M5 and very near good motorhome and caravan repair/accessory shops, as well as Asda supermarket, B&Q and restaurants.
Facilities are due for updating but are warm and clean. Good laundry/washing up room with free book swap.
Probably more suitable for adults and rallies than for children (busy road, no playground).

This is primarily a caravan and motorhome site and apart from a small field for tents, all the pitches are hard standing. Some of the pitches are covered in gravel but appear to be concrete under the gravel and are not all weather pitches. We have a trailer tent (not a campervan) with a long awning and when pegging out the tent we had problems getting pegs in through the gravel. Admittedly we could have pitched on the tent field but it was very wet and we were worried about the weight of the trailer sinking into the field. The owners, particularly Jo, were very obliging and helped us to find a suitable pitch. If you have a trailer tent with a short awning you should be ok as you can pitch the trailer part sideways with the awning onto the grass.
That said, the site is compact, well kept and well lit at night. The facilities are warm and clean with plenty of hot water although I would’ve preferred slightly more than 20 seconds worth of shower water before having to push the button again. One of the things that attracted me to the site was free wifi - however the signal is only strong near reception so bear that in mind if you want wifi.
Much has been said about the noise, and yes, there is air and traffic noise but I feel the location of the site more than compensates for the noise. Two bus stops outside the campsite, a park and ride, KFC, Harvester, B&Q and ASDA all within half a mile makes it a very convenient place to stay. We stayed for four nights and walked to the Harvester on our last night where the service and meal were very good.
Gloucester is a lovely city to visit – we especially enjoyed the docks, the cathedral and the folk museum.

Booked this site after reading previous reviews.
Very easy to find from M5, about 1 mile.
Warm welcome on arrival and information given about local eating places such as Indian Restaurant just up the road, or Harvester & KFC in opposite direction which can be walked to very easily.
Site is on main bus route, so you do get road noise, although we knew this before arriving.
Pitch was large enough for caravan with a grass section for awning etc, although you were asked to not park on the grass section if you had no awning, therefore the view out of your window was your own vehicle.
There is a small tent field which had 6 tents in it as we left, the site is very busy and full most of the time, especially weekends, so booking is advisable.
There was 2 showers in ladies block, as well as 4/5 wash cubicles, and toilets. Although these are not the most up to date, they were very clean, the showers were hot (free) and there was shower gel on the wall in the shower. There is a hairdryer at a cost of 20p which is part way in one of the wash cubicles.
Our electricity point was quiet a way from the van, so you might need a long cable, depending on which pitch your on, our cable reached though.
There is an Asda supermarket about a steady 10 minutes walk away to stock up on items, and as already advised the bus (no 94) stops outside the park and goes to Cheltemham or Gloucester. The buses are every 10 minutes through the day, and 20 minutes after 6:30pm.
If using your car you will need a key to gain access back into the park through the barrier at a cost of £10, you get this back when you hand the key in. If you want an early start when leaving site it's best to hand key back previous day, especially on a Sunday as the reception does not open till 9am, although if you are not in a rush you can stay on site until 12 noon the day of leaving.
We enjoyed our stay, would use site again as a stop over point on trip further South, but as already advised, site is very busy so that speaks for itself, only down side is the noise as you are in a built up area.
