Visited this site over the first May bank holiday weekend, We had read some of the other reviews which are very useful when looking for somewhere to stay. I must say that I agree with most things, very helpful staff, clean & tidy, both the pitches & surrounding areas were fine for us. Useful info sheet given on arrival with local shop directions, places to eat, takeaways etc, other campsites should take this onboard!.
We didn't have an issue with the road noise or the planes, these were quite a spectacle at times coming in all shapes & sizes to and from the nearby airfield. These stopped at a very respectable time in the evening. Overall a great little independant campsite, clean, tidy & well run, all at a very reasonable price. Would recommend.

My husband and I stayed at Briarfields for a week. It wasn't our first choice but with the easter holidays on the doorstep everywhere seemed to be booked up. Thankfully Briarfields were able to accommodate us.
On arrival we were greeted by Alan and Patsy who were very friendly. We were provided with an information sheet of local shops and things to do etc. Alan showed us to our pitch which was very good. He offered to help us push the caravan into place but it was raining and we didn't want to let him get wet!
The toilet and shower block I have to say were immaculate. They were very clean and so nice and warm. Others have mentioned the pressure on the showers and I was dreading this, but to be honest it wasn't that bad. Ok it wasn't a power shower but it was adequate and very warm, infact my husband thought it was too hot!
The site was very well maintained, Alan always seemed to be busy doing something, he seemed very proud of the site and so he should be, it was a credit to them both.
My only criticism was the road noise. Living in a very quiet area we did find this quite annoying. But like the others have said you soon get use to it.
I would highly recommend this site, it was great.

Lovely welcome on reception. You are provided with a sheet which in addition to listing the camp rules also shows local shops, take-aways, pubs, caravan accessory shops and so on. A sheet of local dog walks is also provided.
Overall impression is that the site is kept neat and tidy. The site is well laid out and all pitches are level.
The toilets and showers are kept very clean and beautifully warm - as stated in the previous review, the water pressure/shower heads could be improved, but I've been in many worse!
There is a little traffic noise, but its not intrusive at this time of year.
We recommend this site and will definitely return.

Here is our review for Briarfields for our new years weekend 2007
As with all of our reviews we do the not so good stuff first.
The problem we have with this site is the showers. If you can manage without then its a great site. The showers are very poor in our opinion and remember this is our opinion. The power flow is quite poor and on occasions there is a small smell from the drainage. The shower heads look like and are indeed in need of replacement. They are hot though indeed very hot but it can take a while to get showered due to the poor water flow rate and as in most sites are push button again not one of my favourites.
The disabled facilities are not bad accept there is a 1 1/2 step into the disabled facilities and this should be easily rememdied with some concrete and again is push button showered. Disabled and those with limited mobility shouldnt have to have the inconvenience of push button showers.
Now onto the rest of the site.
The reception area is well managed and full of local information. The owners who we met at the site were very polite and friendly and gave us a detailed briefing on the site and facilities and it was a warm welcome.
The site has a concrete road around the pitches and is well thought out and certainly accessable.
The pitches are excellent without a doubt. There are a number of concrete hardstandings with gravel sides for the awnings. These are well drained and very tidy with electric hook ups. Pitch 65 is excellent on the corner behind a large hedge.
The site is excellently located just off the motorway 3 mins and there is no noise from the M5 there is a little noise from the closeness of the A40 but it is not so bad. It is only a couple of minutes into Cheltenham from here.
Overall this is a great site sadly let down by its showers. With this in mind I would still go there again. The owners are very nice people on the first impressions we had and the site is very well thought out and the local position gives a great opportunity to visit places of local history and days out.

Excellent site. Stayed there for a few nights on way home back to plymouth, to do shopping. Staff are so friendly and helpful, on arrival we were put on an extra big hard standing and still put our porch up with out touching the muddy grass.
The toilet/shower block is security coded, and so lovely and warm. Free showers,(after a cold thorntons holt in notts this was pure luxury!) cleaned regular and even pot pourri in bowls on the side!
Not noisy even next to the busy road, Suited our needs while we xmas shopped, what we did see a lot of was mistletoe growing everywhere!
A motel on site as well, which was busy.
The only drawback is no resident warden in a emergency there is a contact number but the office shuts in the early evening till 9 next morning and no one there all through the night. But not a problem maybe during the summer someone is there all the time not needed so much in the winter.
I commend them on such a brilliant site we will return next year shopping again for xmas!

We've stopped at this site twice now and can highly recommend it as being friendly and helpful, very clean and tidy and the owners are very obliging - and it's open all year.
All pitches have electric hook up. Water points and chemical toilet flush are nearby. Some of the pitches are very narrow, but the owner was very obliging in letting us park our car in another one of the pitches opposite our motorhome space.
The toilets and showers are kept very clean and warm - it was minus 5 degrees when we were there and the block was still warm - we were most grateful.
There is a bus service every 10 mins into the town centre that stops just yards from the entrance of the site and the owners also give you a very useful info sheet that lists all the local services, shops, pubs etc - they really have thought of everything.
They run a very reasonably priced motel on site too, so if you have extra visitors, this could come in handy if you don't want them in the 'van' with you.
We found the site to be quiet - at this time of year it seemed to be mainly longer term caravaners and motorhomers on site. We didn't find the traffic noise to be a problem at all in the evening and night.
One minor point that may have been our lack of observation was that there didn't appear to be anywhere to get rid of our motorhome grey water waste but if you're stopping around Cheltenham area - this site is definitely friendly and worth a visit.

We stayed for 1 night on our way to Cornwall.
Very close to the motorway.
We arrived after the office was closed - had pre warned them - not a problem they provided me with keypad numbers etc and pitch details - very helpful.
The pitches are bowling green standard. Toilets very clean and modern.
Will use this site again.

We stayed at this site on the way down to cornwall but I had to just leave my comment. I was so impressed with this site, the layout , cleanliness and really everything about the site was really good, I was ( in a way ) disapointed that we were only stopping off there for one night . I rate this site very highly and recomend it 100 %

Stayed end of May bank holiday, handy location for Gloucester & Cheltenham. We pitched our tent on a touring pitch the grass was like a bowling green no bumps or stones in soil. No play area but the excellent grass provides plenty room for children to play on. Washing facilities were kept very clean, don't really see the need for having a code on door but not a problem. Some traffic noise but did not bother us. All in all nice place to stay

We stayed here over Easter, very pleasant welcome, we were one of the last to arrive but pitch was reserved & easy to find. We had reserved ehu but there was no available socket. After speaking to the warden he quickly sorted it & was very helpful. Site is level with a mix or hard standing with gravel in the middle & complete hard standing. There is a grassed area in the centre of the site for tents. We were on a pitch with gravel in the centre which was a little awkward as the jockey wheel was so much lower than the 'van. Made hitching up very difficult. If you can stipulate ask for a complete hard standing pitch for a van! The site has 2 busy roads running either side, we were against the far hedge & the road noise was quite intrusive, during the day it didn't really matter but at bedtime it took a little getting used to (but a bottle of wine helped!) The toilets are accessed by a code that is given to you when you book in, the ladies were very clean & warm. The reception area has plenty of leaflets to give you an idea of where to visit, the site also gives you a very handy sheet with nearest shop, garage, supermarket, take-away etc. The nearest pub is about a 5 min walk it looks like a quaint country pub from the outside but inside it is like a modern Yates/ Wetherspoons, very odd, there was a full belt disco going on on Easter Sunday! However Cider & beer was very good & they serve Real Ales too! But maybe not the place for a quiet drink! Cheltenham is about a 10 mins drive & has an abundance of shops , pubs & restaurant, plenty of parking & easy access to the town centre! I think this site is an ideal short stop site & well placed for exploring Cheltenham & Gloucester.
