We recently stayed at Trentfield Farm Camp Site on the rally field. The site owner, John, was the most helpful site owner we've met! Nothing was too much trouble for him. We were part of a rally and he even organised events over the weekend! Facilities were clean on site and there was a beautiful walk along the river which our dog loved! The Ferry Boat pub was only a short walk away and a few minutes drive into Rampton there was a shop which sold virtually everything (rather like Aladdin's cave). We already plan to return to this superb site!

Excellent site and john is a very friendly host. Went with the uk campsite mob on our first outing with them, drunk loads had a great time and have now booked more meets with them. All the kids get on and are all looked after by all uk campsite people attending the meets. Toilets and shower on site where ok very clean and well presented. This was our first outing where we never left the site all weekend but still had loads of fun. Has to be thumbs up from the cobb clan.A++

This was our first visit to Trentfield and we really enjoyed it. The site and the staff were great. Lovely level pitch, with plenty of room to move around (very handy for us as we are still novices). Nice pubs within walking distance. The staff gave us a fantastic information pack when we booked in which was really useful, and they were in no rush for us too leave on the day of departure. We are already planning our next visit.

We as a small family have just spent a long excellent weekend at Trentfield Farm. If you want peace and quiet this is the place to be. John is extremely helpful and nothing is any trouble. Definitely a place to go if you want to forget the humdrum of everyday life. As you are in the middle of the countryside there is plenty of walks to do, John gives you a long list on arrival and the Ferryboat Inn does wonderful home cooked meals (proper pub)
Comments from March 2006 visitors are very negative - if you are to exercise your dog I expect it to be taken for a walk not just a lap round the field! Visitors wanting more amenities should visit the larger parks.
John, family and team are constantly striving to make the most of the site but as a visitor (don't overdo it John)) and spoil the peaceful, country ambience.

Stayed at this site as a warmer for the season just to get into the swing of things - chose this site as it was very close to home so not too far it all went wrong. Didn't get of to a good start as we turned up in our VW campervan and were advised that the site as a rule didn't take VW's but the owner John let us stay anyway.
The site is still in the process of being updated and as is was the beginning of the season not all things were up and running anyway. The pitches are not laid out and as not all the EHU's were in action we were asked to plug into one behind a caravan - this poor caravan ended up with three cables being laid across its area which I didn't think was very nice they were also right next to the only working tap for quite a few units.
The site is very open and in windy weather this shows, there is no shop and nowhere on site to exercise your dog, which I found a real pain as it meant early in the morning and late at night you had to walk out onto the road and down near the river, also it meant you couldn't play with your dog either. The toilets were clean but the water system was not so good, the showers and the taps fed from the same pipe on the same water heater so turn one tap on then another and the water flow drops.
The Ferry Boat Inn near the site was very good and you could take your dog in, which was a bonus (when you have dogs these things are important)

August 2005 Stayed here for a long weekend in the rally field, so cannot really comment on the pitches in the main field.
The rally field was nice and flat and well spread out. It is only a short walk to the facilities block, which when we were there only had two showers and three cubicles in the mens. I cannot comment on the Ladies facilities I am afraid.
There is a laundry and wash up room with fridage and freezer, free to use and also an area to chill in if it is raining! There is a marquee available to sit in if you are in a group as well.
The rally field backs on to the river and has a couple of fishing spots. I was not fishing but the people I was with did some and commented that they did not catch a lot in two days of fishing. This could have just been their tactics though! It is a tidal river.
There are lovely peacful walks along the riverside and even on the roads as well, as the site is right in the country there is not a lot of traffic on the road.
There is a delightful pub down the road about a mile from the site called the Ferry Boat Inn and they serve local ale as well as some better known drinks, the food is fantastic - £4.25 for a roast dinner with all the trimmings, cannot argue with that. If you stay at this site you have to check out the Ferry Boat Inn.
There is a huge power station about a mile from the site which is highly visible but to be honest, I didn't even notice it much after a while, don't let this put you off coming here.
There is a small shop in the next village that sells everything you could need, bread, milk, food, booze etc.
There is an Asda in Retford about 7 miles away for a bigger shop.
Site is easily accessable and is about 7 miles from the A1.
Overall a great site which I would return to

July 2005 short stay at Trentfield very peaceful site excellent if you like being away from it all. Smashing location in wonderful countryside. On site facilities were good , but will be even better when complete, had no problems at this site owners very friendly and will have no hesitation visiting again. If you're into birding, fishing and walking then this is the place.

June 2005 Notice from previous reviews that the toilet block was incomplete in April 2004 just been to site 27/6/05 the toilet block is still not complete waiting for roof tiles, bare concrete block walls, nowhere to hang clothes when taking a shower. The dogs in the pound barking at all hours everytime someone walked past was also a pain. The field itself I have no complaints about level cut grass water nearby. Very busy but still had plenty of room. Lovely area some nice walks, only shop is in Rampton you must see it.

June 2005 Very nice site but work still needs to be done. Was a little disappointed with the Gents facilities (just one shower and two toilets) but the new toilet block should be up and running soon. Site owner couldn't do enough and there's plenty to see and do in the area (would recommend the Robin Hood Visitor Centre). Would go back here again but only if they had the new toilet blocks open!

June 2005 A very nice site... as mentioned previously John is a very accommodating bloke who could't have made us feel more welcome if he tried!
Toilet blocks still to be finished but the ladies were clean enough they were. Again, another potwash would have been better but apparently it's in hand. We'll definitely be going back again, for the 2006 meet if not before.
