Just returned from our first visit to this site and I'm sure we'll be back soon. Our pitch (without an EHU) was nowhere near any other tent (we had one side of the field to ourselves), was level and well kept. Toilets and showers were immaculate. Welcome was very friendly and information provided was clearly well thought through. We came here for a quiet weekend away from the usual stresses of everyday life and boy did we get it. The site was silent by about 10.30.
The power station is something you notice once - it really doesn't take anything away from this lovely site.
My only criticism (and this is being picky) is that the shower pressure was very high and the shower head had very small holes so at times it felt as though you were being showered by pins. I think I would have struggled to shower my young daughter.
I can't wait to go back.

We visited here over the Easter Holidays and found it ideal for our needs. The site is flat and well drained. There are two fields one which is predominately tourers and seasonal and the other which is more for tents. We were quite a large group and we were allocated 3 pitches with parking for all 5 cars together and told we could pitch how we wanted within the area allocated in the tourers field.
There was a set price for the Bank holiday which worked out at £20 per night for a standard pitch (tent +2 and a car without EHU). Extras for children on a sliding scale according to age were reasonable. We also had gazebo which cost £3 per night. If you required EHU then the pitch price increased to £95. We had one pitch with EHU as it was so hot and we needed the fridge, Horrah! Hard ground pegs will be required as it is quite stony.
The facilities were excellent. Loos and showers were clean and visited regularly throughout the day. Showers were free and had a good powerful spray. Hot water was constant. The washing up facilities were also excellent. There are six sinks all with instant hot water boilers and their own plastic bowl. A good spacious room with electric light sensor. The only problem I had here was that if I went down after dark the lights went out during my washing up session. There was a further room which contained a freezer for free ice pack freezing. We also put our BBQ stuff in purchased for Easter Sunday and it was still there on Saturday night when we went to retrieve it. There is a vending machine for items like bacon butter and cheese. Most things seemed to be £1 a not unreasonable sum. Information leaflets for the attractions to visit are also in plentiful supply.
We were warned that it was expected to get busy over the weekend it being Easter but it didn't(Where were you campers?). As a consequence the children had plenty of room to play ball, chase or anything without being a nuisance to other campers as there is no formal play area for children. We did take a look at the other tent field and this was occupied but not packed in. The site was quiet by 10pm although 10:30 was requested.
There are footpaths and walks in the area most notably the footpath from the site down to the river which was glorious in the morning. There were people on the site using the river for leisure purposes but this was not intrusive. The site has a conservation area and an otter holt close by. We tried to see the otters but they were elusive.
I must mention the Power Station and yes it is a blot on the landscape but we pitched so we were not looking at it. Anyway, the sun rises and sets away from it. If you are going to a site and want to sit there all day with a nice view then this probably wont work for you. However, if you are prepared to walk the short distance to the river you can get out of its sight line. Someone had previously mentioned the banging noise at night. We experienced this on 4 of our 5 nights at about 11pm. It consisted of one loud bang and sounds like an enormous amount of pressure is being released. This was the only negative.
The nearest supermarket is Morrisons in Retford. There are fast food shops here also. There is a local shop at Rampton a mile and a half away.
We like to get out and visit the local attractions and discover the area. We went to the Wildlife Park where there were waterfowl and Meerkats, Camels, Goats, Sheep, Donkeys, Ponies, Monkeys, Exotic Birds and Birds of Prey. There was a show with the Birds of Prey and an opportunity to hold and be photographed with the barn owl and stroke one of the larger owls after (no charge). We also visited Thaymar Ice Cream shop (twice), the major oak and had a lesson in archery, Cresswell Caves and, for my 5 year old grandson, a day out at Sundown Adventure park.
We also enjoyed birdwatching and spotted in excess of 10 species.
We noted that the local pub the Ferryboat was still shut as reported by previous visitors. We have a large range of ages in our party from 5 to mid 50's with 3-4 teenagers so we tend not to descend on the local pubs and frighten the landlords. However, I could see that this would be asset for couples and smaller families/groups. There was a pub in one of the villages on the approach to the campsite. It looked well patronised and a nice looking pub from the outside. Sorry, the name now escapes me. There were also a couple of other suggestions with the information leaflets.
The question of whether we would return or not is yes, definitely. We are hoping to return in July for the Waddington Air Show. A clean well run site friendly owners and managers.

Lovely site, very friendly owners. Plenty of toilets and showers and very clean.
The site is basically a couple large fields with facilities, so not a lot to do for smaller kids. The River Trent runs past the site, and there's some lovely walks. There's a brewery in the village which opens a small bar in the evenings and weekends.
We caught the bus to Retford and had a nice walk round the town and the park and along the canal towpath to The HopPole for lunch.
I grew up in the shadow of cooling towers, to the nearby power station didn't bother me at all.

We visited Trentfield weekend of wedding, on arrival the staff really helpful we were shown to pitch which was really spacious. It was nice & flat really good with electric and water next to pitch. The toilets and shower blocks were immaculate. No shop but handy vending machine. Only thing could of had as we had our grandchildren was a play area. Pity the pub was closed down road.We have 3 dogs they loved it nice walk nearby. We would definitely go back but the grandchildren would prefer a park or somewhere to play instead of getting wrong of another camper. But we will be back. Not much in village so need transport but lots to see nearby, not far to travel for a supermarket

Stayed here over the Royal wedding weekend with wife, child and Grandparents. There are two fields, one field only has E/H down one edge of the field and is predominantly where the tens go.
The other field is a little larger and house some seasonal pitches round the outside. Most tourers where in the middle part of the field. The grass is short and in good nick.
I would bring a long electric cable, as some of the connections are quite a distance from where you might be pitched. The field is a little uneven so bring levellers as well.
We were pitched in the middle of the field with the seasonal pitches which was fine for the first two days, then the wind got up, and we were very exposed and had to take our awning down, and I don’t to that willy nilly.
There is one shower block serving the whole site, with three showers in the men’s and three in the women’s. I was a little worried at this, as it was a busy weekend, however, none of our party has to queue up and they were immaculately clean.
There is no shop on site but there is a vending machine that has milk, eggs, cheese and randomly energy drinks. The pub that is within walking distance has closed, which was a shame. There isn’t another one in walking distance. The closest shop we found was around three miles away, turning right out of the site and following the road round.
Some of the reviews point out the power station, and say its problem… I would say that some are a little over sensitive. The power station is a few miles away. If you are in the tent filed you won’t see it, if you in the other field, it is screened by a line of trees. It doesn’t make any noise.
The river runs past the site, and is accessed at the bottom of the tent field through a gate. There are designed fishing pegs that are available on day ticket. As it was closed season, I didn’t fish it. The site also has an arrangement with two local lakes for discounts prices. Apologies, I can’t remember the names of them.
The site is very dog friendly with good areas to walk them. It is a working stables/livery (is that the correct term? I don’t know) and there are lots of horses being ridden about in the adjacent fields, and through the farm parts of the site.
There is nothing for kids to do on the site, no play park etc, but that is one of the appeals for the site and one of the points they focus on.
We liked the site. It’s a little out of our way but if we happen to be in the area again, would stay there. I would definitely recommend this site to other people.

Third time visiting. The toilets have been upgraded and are as good as any other. There is usage of a freezer and washing machine plus a vending machine for essentials. There is a very well stocked shop in Rampton (next village north).
The power station doesn't cause any problems (be aware of the clearout thump sometimes though). A very peacefully site with a choice of pitches. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Loads of walks nearby with river fishing in season on the door step and lake fishing a mile and half away. Hopefully the pub will kick in again in season.
We will be back again and again. 4*

Found it strange that there's barely any mention on here of the power stations which loom over the site but they were totally silent during our stay.
Immaculately clean site/facilities and friendly, welcoming staff but it was the nightime noise that got us - incessant barking from dogs. We originally thought it was coming from the other caravans but were amazed to find it seemed to be coming from the farmhouse. Literally got about four hours sleep as a result.
Don't be put off by the above though. This is a beautiful place and the walk along the banks of the Trent is stunning. Looks like the local pub's gone bust though which is a shame, so take your own booze with you plus some earplugs and you'll love it!

Just spent Easter break here the site very clean and staff very helpful. The point about the power station yes you can see it but cant say I heard and noise from it.
The shower problem was bad as the gents floor got flooded when showers were used, even using the loos you was stood in water.
Not the cheapest site I've been on for what's on it £99 for 3 nights for a caravan 2 adults 1 child and a dog.
Local pub is now closed but would have been a great place to walk to if open.
Hope they get the showers sorted and think of the price its getting close to sites with pools and clubs on.

Positives:
We arrived on the site on a lovely sunny day, the well maintained pitch was level, the price of the pitch was very reasonable, the toilet facilities and showers were very clean, the pub was a 15 minute walk away, very good fishing on a day ticket on the river trent, just over the flood bank. The site owners were very helpful.
Negatives.
It was difficult finding a shop so take as much as you can with you. They don't allow night fishing on the river.
Overall, I would recommend this site.

A very quiet campsite with no pub, clubhouse, or other noisy features. Perfect for a quiet getaway.
The facilities were good with plenty of washing up sinks, a good toilet block, and the family showers (portable cabins with 2 showers and large changing area) are a great idea: more sites should have them.
We didn't have electric hookup, and our pitch on the river side of the site was large, with loads of space between us and the pitches on either side. The pitches with electric hook up appeared to have less room, but were still not crammed in.
Not much to do on site, but plenty of space in the middle for kids to play, and loads of walking along the river or past the power station.
We were very happy with our weekend here, and will definitely be back for more.
