Just back from Norden Farm for a long weekend. We have been before years ago. This is a farm site - a working farm and it is necessary to drive through the farmyard to access the 3 large camping fields. The activity associated with a working farm must be expected - animal and vehicle movements. Not a problem at all to us and there are many animals and birds including rare breeds and a small 'zoo' to look around.

Fields are flat with ample electric hookups and water in each field. A few more stand pipes would be good. Pitches are large and cared for and on booking in we were invited to pitch where we liked.

TV reception at the bottom of main field is very poor - elsewhere it is ok.

Toilet block is modern & as clean as campers will allow as always. A second large toilet block is nearing completion at the opposite end of the site. A well stocked shop is also provided and many plants are available to purchase as with their own beef & local pork.

A small children's playground is also available.Looks like this is being extended.

The site is within a stone's throw (almost) of Corfe Castle and there are many interesting walks including the Pubeck Way. Several excellent beaches and other attractions are close by. Good food available in Corfe Castle pubs

Access off the road is easy even for large units and if you miss it there is a 200yards up the road to come back!

Excellent site for dogs but my only criticism would be they need to be on leads on site. The 2 farm dogs are not a problem as they do not come on the campsite

There is a good sized pond on site which I believe is used for fishing but I cannot speak for it.

We would go again.

Me and my son visited this site over the weekend on the the Daily Mirror deal, in other words, on the cheap!

On arrival we were greeted with by friendly young man who took us to our pitch and gave me a choice of four to choose, (low-season). They do have at least four areas for pitching.

The shop is also the reception and is well stocked which was nice to see, in case you may have forgotten anything.

The shower block was very pleasing from the outside and even better when you entered. Cannot remember how many, though they had male, female and unisex ones. Nice to see there was dry area with a pop down chair for changing before the shower itself and somewhere to hang your clothes. Better still, no 20p charge. Also nice to see that they had a separate family room with a small bath for the small ones.Could not fault the shower block. They are also in the process of building another one on the site of the same size.

Toilets are around the outside of the shower block for both sexes. As with all sites choosing your time to use the blocks as they did get busy and dirty quickly, thou the operators did clean several times a day.

The site has a strict 10mph speed limit and right of way for children and animals.Playground is looking a bit tired with the old boot and slide,a see-saw and swing only.

They do have a fishing lake(no-charge),we did try and catch but we only saw them.

Corfe Castle within an easy walk to the pubs,Swanage 5 miles away and Wareham 4 miles in the other direction. You are also within easy reach of various walks to the purbecks and if want to leave the car on site, bus stop at entrance of site to Swanage and the other way to Wareham and Poole. Walk to Norden Station for the Swanage Railway or take the car to The Tank Museum or Monkey World.

It was nice to see and smell the animals as this is a working farm but don`t be put off by that!Try it.

Reviews of this site never cease to amaze me. People complain about everything - the weather, the pitches, the mud, the facilities, the farmyard smells. It seems to me that many people who camp these days expect 4 star hotel-like facilities. When we first visited Norden (20 years ago) there were no electric hookups and no modern washing facilities and people didn't complain - this was what camping was all about! Now visitors drive to the toilet and shower facilities causing mud and mayhem during bad weather. We go equipped with our wellingtons and use the facilities at quieter times of day. If we want a quiet break we do not go in the school holidays.

Many of the issues raised are due to the poor hygiene standards of the people who use them - I often visit the toilet blocks and clear up dropped items (women particularly seem unable to use the bins provided), empty sinks full of dirty water and flush the toilets.

I feel strongly that it is not the facilities that are dirty, it is the people who use them. People have been known to use the showers as toilets - they should bear in mind that people have to clear up after them, and the items they leave lying around are disgusting. Sinks are left filthy after washing up and we often have to clear up other peoples mess, how do they behave at home?

The people who clean the facilities cannot win - they encounter complaints if they do the cleaning as people still want to use them, but if they can't get into them to clean this is still not right. However many toilets and showers are provided there would still not be enough for some people, new ones are being built to ease congestion but this takes time as work cannot be carried out in busy periods as campers would complain about that too!

People complain about the distance to supermarkets - this is a farm, set in beautiful countryside so of course there are no supermarkets on the doorstep, it is no hardship to have to drive 4 miles to the nearest town, and there is a well-stocked shop on the farm from which you can purchase items if you do not wish to travel.

I recommend that people visit Norden and enjoy the facilities provided, clean up after themselves (using the mops provided), chill out and relax! We have been doing so for 20 years and intend to do so for many more.

Enjoyed a lovely sunny stay at Norden Campsite last weekend. We went when the schools were back so did not find it busy like with other reviews. We stayed in the top field, great pitch with a short walk to toilets. Shower block and washing up was a bit further, but saw what looks like a new shower block base nearby so hopefully next year will be done. I found the toilets/showers clean and always stocked with toilet paper, possibly as it was not that busy, but overall good for a campsite. There is a smell when you drive in, but this is a working farm so you kind of expect it. In the top field where we were, you could not smell anything anyway. Great to see the animals, my daughter saw a baby calf which was so sweet! The farm/campsite shop is very well stocked with everything you would need from fresh eggs to frisbees. The kids play area is a bit tired and definitely could do with an update or lick of paint, but my daughter did not find this a problem and still enjoyed it. Corfe Castle is short walk away and very beautiful! We enjoyed a lovely meal in The Castle Inn & The Greyhound Inn. Both worth a visit! Norden House B&B right next to the campsite is open for breakfast in the mornings and we had a nice breakie there on our last morning. The campsite is well worth a visit and we look forward to returning next year.

We pulled into this site not having made a reservation beforehand. The price seemed right at £12.50 per night for the two of us (low-season) inclusive of EHU. The woman in the shop said just pitch anywhere. We found a spot in 'donkey field' as this seemed more sheltered than the other fields. Most of the pitches were worn out, but that's to be expected at this time of year. Many pitches were completely sodden, suggesting poor drainage.

The facilities are generally quite good, with family washrooms, unisex showers, and male and female showers. The showers have hot and cold mixers. The pressure seemed to vary depending how many were in use. They do have a dog shower which no doubt could be useful. The shop has the essentials and is pretty good. There is a decent washing up area too.

The site has a certain rustic charm. It is a working farm, in other words an 'old school' campsite. Some reviewers have complained about the farm 'aroma'. Come on guys. What do you expect!

The worst thing about this site is the general unkempt nature of it. During the week we were there, the bins seemed always to be full and over flowing. The facilities are not kept all that clean either, particularly the shower rooms. Maybe this could be partially overlooked in high-season but NOT in low-season when there's hardly anyone on site. Also the warden did not seem interested in sorting out the thugs in the 'noisy tents'.

We visited this site on the strength of reviews on here. This is a good site if you have a big tent, but if you are looking for a quiet break, don't go here in school holidays!

The site is in a great location for visiting the main attractions of Dorset, and is reasonably priced. The main shop is very well stocked, and although we didn't visit, the working farm was clearly of great interest to children, especially the nearby donkeys. The pitches were also very well sized - we had a 16-man tent with a footprint of about 9mx9m and had no problems with accommodating both that and three cars.

We did however find that although the central toilet/shower/laundry etc block was well provided (though one shower was blocked), the toilet facilities near our tent were filthy and very rarely cleaned, and became filthy again quickly after any cleaning.

The site was extremely busy (not a surprise in mid-August) but there was no evidence of a noise policy - fortunately we were towards the edge of the main camping area but further in the noise would probably have kept us awake.

They also insisted on using their own freezer blocks, claiming campers' own blocks would get lost, and charging very high prices for the freezer use. Other sites we have been to have had no problems at all keeping track of campers' freezer blocks with named plastic bags, and they charged considerably less.

I might visit this site again, but not in school holidays, and only when they have built the new facilities block. I agree with other reviewers about more facilities being needed near the top field - given the concrete just being laid for the new toilet block I don't think they are planning them to be any bigger than the existing ones - though number of toilets was not a problem, some showers and more scullery facilities would be good.

We stayed here with a group of friends in the top field at the end of August. The site was very busy and this took its toll on the facilities. The toilet block in the top field was filthy and there were no showers although a new block is being built. This meant a very long walk (10-15 mins) with the kids to the showers which you had to queue for. Most people seemed to drive from the top field to the shower block and shop. There is only 1 hair dryer in the ladies which causes a queue, although there is no charge to use it.

The bins were constantly overflowing and the traffic constantly going in and out of site on the single track road meant you had to be on your guard when you were walking with the kids to the shower block and to the shop although there is a strict 10mph speed limit.

The playground for the size of the site was completely inadequate with only 2 swings, one seesaw and a slide.

The children enjoyed seeing the cows and their calves. The shop is well stocked and reasonably priced.

The site is in an ideal location for Corfe Castle, the steam train to Swanage and to visit Studland Bay and other attractions but we felt that they need to improve the facilities for the amount of pitches there are.

Just returned from 6 nights camping at Norden Farm. We booked up the night before and luckily for us there had been a cancellation otherwise we would have had to book elsewhere.

As per previous reviews the smell of the farm does hit you upon arrival but you soon get used to it and we received a great welcome from the staff and were shown to our pitch.

When I booked the pitch the previous evening I was told we would be on the donkey field but upon arrival were shown to the pond field. We were initially a bit disappointed however in the end we were so glad we on this field.

The pond field was rather windy and a little way to walk to the main shower block but in our opinion was definitely the best area to camp in. The views were just great from this area and the tents seem more spaced out.

It seems that there are more tents on this site than caravans but maybe this was just during our stay.

Also as soon as people leave, the area is checked and then mowed around the pitch so that the area is tidy ready for the next visitor.

The only down side to being in the pond field is the walk to the shower block. They are in the process of building one in this area and hopefully this will be done by next summer as we definitely want to return.

The washing up area definitely needs updating too and one evening we even drove down to the new block to wash up as there were people waiting.

It is a very friendly site and the children just love the animals and the playground. This area does need a little updating but the kids didn't seem to mind.

The shop is well stocked and seems to cater for the locals as well as it stocked animal food and udder cream of all things!

A great site and definitely worth visiting.

A group of us camped here in the top field for 6 nights. The site is well located in between Wareham and Swanage, nr Corfe Castle and Studland Bay. It is a working farm so comes with all the smells and noises associated with one.

The office staff were polite and efficient. The shop was well stocked and reasonably priced. The playground was right near the entrance to the farm so if you are in the top field, the kids are a good distance away. The facilities in the top field were basic and not cleaned on a regular basis. There was an additional small portacabin toilet. The bins were overflowing with used paper towels. There were a couple of washing up sinks here too.

If you wanted a shower it was a good distance to the newer block nr the campsite entrance and there were not enough facilities for the amount of campers. The shower floors were dirty too. The campsite was noisy at night.

Kids liked it.

We spent 5 nights at Norden Farm in school holidays. The location is excellent with direct access to the Purbeck Way and easy to get to the steam train at Swanage and its fantastic beach. The site is quite big, although not too noisy and the shop is well stocked. There are probably not quite enough toilets/showers and the latter are a long walk from the top field. This was not a big problem, but the toilets were not clean enough in our opinion. It is every camper's responsibility to leave the facilities clean and tidy
