Delightful touring site, located just above the village of Ravenglass, the site is terraced with hard standing gravel pitches with EHU/ TV link up.
The site is slightly elevated up the side of a hill, central bin area, with one motorhome service point and several waste/fresh water points.
Shower room spotless with two showers, building not heated at the time of visit, lovely friendly wardens who seem to put themselves out to help campers.
Good site shop, but no daily papers, the village has one small post office/shop, however I would advise you stock up before you visit the area, good TESCO and SHELL garage in MILLOM.
The village has four pubs, guesthouses and hotel, no gift shops. Very little else to offer the tourist, the village has a small grassed area with bench seats running parallel to the stoney beach
The Ravenglass & Eskdale railway runs past the site just over the footbridge towards the village.
Your within easy reach of the lakes area and the west coastal route towards Whitehaven.
Worth another visit to include the coast further north.

Stayed at this site for 10 days and was very disappointed with the facilities.
The site quotes 75 pitches so assuming 2 people to a van excluding children this totals 150 75 of each sex assumed yet only 2 showers and 3 toilet cubicles in the gents evidently not much better in the ladies.
Every morning at the gents there was a queue for the toilet and showers and like wise outside the ladies.
The staff were fine and it is well situated for the village the castle and the small steam railway
Such a shame the limited facilities lets it down.

Without a doubt the best site I have ever used. The site is in a very quiet and beautiful area. Very friendly staff and the best stocked shop with fantastic home baked cakes (worth a visit just for them!) Toilet blocks were immaculate with Piped Music! Wonderful!
Easy walk to village with steam train station and three restaurants one of which we used The Ratty Inn excellent food at fair price.
Loads of walks for hikers and their dogs starting just outside the site entrance.

Every good thing that has been said about this site is correct.
It's wonderfully landscaped, very spacious pitches and the warm welcome from the wardens is a lesson in hospitality.
Spotless showers and toilets plus a well stocked shop.
Pubs, shop and steam railway are a short stroll away and the beach just a touch further.
Watch the tides, it comes in like a rocket.
One thing that isn't mentioned and I think it should. Crows! They start their screeching at dawn and it goes on till dusk. What a din. It's a shame as there's lots of other bird life going on but it's drowned out by the black devil birds!
I'll certainly go back, but if you have a bird phobia, beware.

This was our first stop on a tour of the Lakes. Very friendly welcome from the wardens. Lovely well maintained site. Conveniently situated service points around the site and clean fresh showers and toilets.
The shop is very well stocked with local produce.
It was a 20 minute walk to the castle which was worth a visit. We also went on the steam railway which was lovely. Unfortunately I can't recommend the cafe at the end of the train journey we wished we had eaten at one of the 2 pubs a short walk away. This site has the best of both worlds as the beach is a few minutes walk from the site. We would definitely return to this site.

What a wonderful small site, the staff are enthusiastic. The shop although small is stocked with everything you might need. Tthe site is very clean, the ground is flat (very important for tents). We were given a selection of pitches. What a great start to our cycle touring holiday. Within walking distance of 3 pubs - what is there not to like?

What a outstanding campsite. We stayed here with 3 children- a 1 year old, 3 year old and 8 year old. Everything was kept so clean- with fresh flowers in the toilets! A roomy family shower room with a tall and short shower head, baby changing, baby bath, toilet & sink! The washing up facilities were undercover and immaculate and there was laundry facilities with a clothes line you could use if you so wished. The pitches came in all different sizes but ours was roomy and each had plenty of space nestled under trees.
The shop maybe small but stocked some amazing steak & meat from local sources and was well stocked!
The staff were very helpful and friendly and came to make sure you were happy on your pitch when arrived. Nothing was too much trouble for them and we couldn't have felt more welcomed.
It was such a peaceful & quiet campsite with a short walk to the towns play park, miniture railway, main station, 3 pubs and a tea rooms. It would suit young families, couples or backpackers!
We were very sad to leave and there was nothing bad to say about it! Staff were always around or not far away if anyone had any problems.
The castle is within walking distance and worth a visit with the birds of prey and my children got to ride on the back of a husky on a cart! There are so many wonderful things to see and do in this beautiful area of the country!

We have just come back from our second holiday on this site.
It is a wonderful site the wardens are helpful and friendly and the location is excellent. The facilities are very clean and well kept plenty of hot water and no queues. The walks from the site take you to the estuary where you can walk for miles around the coast. There is a short walk into Ravenglass where there are a couple of pubs and a shop. The trip on the narrow gauge railway is a must, we had a brilliant day out on it and lovely walks at the end of the trip. Lovely peaceful site very relaxing holiday.

This is a very special site, for 2 reasons.
FIRSTLY it has the best campsite showers I have ever met. Not posh exactly, but properly designed and thought out:
LOTS of hooks for your stuff (at least five, I did count but I've forgotten);
Big enough for the shower area to be properly separate from the changing area, so your stuff doesn't get wet;
A proper bench seat to sit on which you don't have to move before you can open the door;
An adjustable height shower head so little people like me don't suffer with shower heads so far up I can hardly see them;
AND adjustable water temperature so you can have it how you want it (I AM SO FED UP WITH ONES THAT CAN'T BE ADJUSTED BECAUSE THEY ARE ALWAYS TOO HOT FOR ME!)
All in a spotlessly clean and warm modern block. Wonderful.
SECONDLY, Ravenglass is just a magical spot, and the campsite is but a few minutes stroll from all its attractions. Though not much more than a village, squashed between the sea and the mountains of the Lake District, Ravenglass has: a good hotel, and a wonderful pub/restaurant; sea, estuary, hills/mountains, walking; an historic castle; Roman ruins;
Most memorable of all, Ravenglass has the famous La'al Ratty, a delightful narrow gauge railway on which you can travel up into the hills, and which has associated attractions at either end, including the famous Ratty Arms. You can ride up, and walk back, making this a good site for leaving your vehicle behind.
As it is a C&CC site, you expect a good standard, but this is one of the Club's best.
It is worth noting though, that as usual the tent and glamping pitches are furthest from the toilet block but there is a good reason for this.
Most of the site slopes, and all the pitches on the slope are handstandings of various sizes. At the top of the site, on a more level bit of land, is the grass area for tents and the pods. The grass area is probably quieter than the lower area, and has a better view though might be a bit windier.
So, effort has clearly been made to use the difficult site imaginatively. Well done Club and Franchisees!
Was so sorry to leave and will surely go back.

Great stay at very pleasant site with good facilities and only having two showers per sex didn't cause a problem though the site was three quarter full. Easy access to pleasant town and not as difficult to get to as expected. Young site managers excellent. Not at all noisy. Enjoyed Ratty and west Coast train to Carlisle on great coastal route. Pubs and restaurants fine.
