Excellent three night stay here helped by wonderful weather though it was chilly at night.
Warm welcome, our grass pitch was level and had electric hook up. The car could be parked next to the tent. There were also picnic benches available for the campers - great!
The only noise at night was entirely natural - sheep & birds.
Wifi cost £2 for the length of our stay. It worked well: perfectly useable for email and Google searches.
The shop is small but has all the basics - bread, milk, bacon, eggs, ice cream etc and newspapers could be ordered. We were offered a discount voucher for the little steam railway.
Toilet block - very clean, plenty of hot water, only two showers in the Ladies which might cause queues at peak times? Hair drier free. Dishwashing room also much better than what you find on many sites. Three sinks, double draining boards, hot water etc.
The only downside is that the two camping areas are the furthest possible you can get from the toilet block. As adults camping in good weather this didn't bother us but might be an issue if you have small children, mobility issues or it's pouring with rain!

We stayed here over the Easter week.
We were very pleased with our pitch, and most looked ok, but there are 2 I wouldn't want.
Both ourselves and lots of people needed to use ramps. Some didn't.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would give them all 10/10.
On Easter sunday, an Easter egg hunt had been arranged for the children. It looked good, and was well organised.
Lots of people had dogs, and not one caused any trouble.
I can't comment on the washing up, or toilet block, as we used our own facilities, but at a glance they look good.
We paid £2 extra for use of the Internet. It was worth it, as we had a good signal, and could use it as much as we wanted.
The village, which is very small, is on the coast, and only a 5 minute walk from the site.
There is a northern rail station only 3 minutes away, on the way to the village. We used this to go to White Haven. L'al ratty leaves from its own little station, and is a good ride.
Ther is a nice children's play park on the way to the station.

Spent three nights here in April 2015: an attractive site with many trees, lots of birdlife, and sheep grazing in next field. Young staff were exemplary, helpful and unfazed.
Two showers for each sex, well designed with solid benches and generous shower heads. The area above the shower block is partly shaded at night, and the paths are not easy to see: take a torch, or you may walk into a tree!
Narrow gauge railway with steam engines can be heard tooting from the site. Ideal walking area, as walker's tickets for the trains can be used to explore the hills.
Ate in The Ratty Arms pub one evening where the meal was above average at around £10 main course.

I just have spent 11 very enjoyable nights at the Ravenglass site. The young site managers, Kim & Bruce
Were extremely friendly, helpful, efficient and smiley! In my opinion they are a great asset to the owners who obviously want to continue the high standards they have set. The site is in a beautiful location and immaculately maintained. The standard and cleanliness of the facilities we're excellent.
The whole set up and attitude is an example to other site managers ( a very small minority at both caravan clubs) that I have come across who operate in a very officious, impatient and condescending manner. I'm looking forward to returning next year, meanwhile I hope you all have a great winter festival.

We stayed on this site in October, there were only approx. 12 units on the site, it was peaceful and quite, just the birdsong to enjoy. The showers were clean and spacious, although only 2 for ladies and 2 for gents. Do not know what it would be like in the peak of the season. There is also a family bathroom. Plenty of hot water. The journey to the site is along winding roads, but just take your time. The shop on the site stocks all the necessary items. A trip on the Ravenglass steam train is a must, which goes through such scenic countryside. There is a café at each end of the line, which both have extensive menus. Can recommend them both! The mainline train station is approx. 5 mins walk from the site. A ride on that was very pleasurable up to St Bees (it goes as far as Carlisle), along the coast with wonderful views. There are many walks from this site and also to Muncaster Castle.

Very happy with this site. We have been here five times now over the past couple of years and intend to return. The site is well kept with friendly and helpful staff. Good selection in the small shop on site. On the front there is a lovely tearoom with out door seating and a trip on the miniature railway is a must, . Plenty to do in the surrounding area with Muncaster just a short walk away.

We also chose this site for its proximity to Muncaster Castle as we are Viking Reenactors and we had a show there so decided to make a holiday of it. We took longer than expected to get there, and phoned to let them know we would be late arriving (about 7. 30pm). We had a great response, and we were thanked for letting them know. On arrival, we rang from the phone on the outside of the reception/shop and were very quickly joined by one of the wardens. He was very helpful and friendly, and he followed us up to the pitch we had been allocated.
The pitch was right at the top of the site, bit of a steep hill to get to it, but it was well located and a good size - enough for our 4m square tent and a smaller pop up tent for my stepson. He made sure it was ok for us, told us where all the facilities were and went back home. After pitching the tents, we went down to the toilet blocks. They were pretty spotless, well stocked with paper etc, and well laid out. There were even rings to attach your dog to while you used the facilities! The showers were all clean, good hot water and plenty of space. If you timed it well there wouldn't be a queue for them either (2 showers in each of the mens and womens).
A short walk into Ravenglass and we were welcomed into The Inn at Ravenglass, a lovely pub, very welcoming, especially for our dog (he was happy as he got lots of doggy biscuits off them!), they had a great menu and some good beers.
We noticed when we got back to the campsite that right next to where we were pitched was a pylon which seemed to be making a heck of a noise. It was in the next field, not right on top of us, but the noise was intrusive the first night (although seemed to quieten down for the remainder of the holiday).
We went on La'al Ratty, which was a short walk away from the site too, that was lovely and the dog was again welcome on it. Muncaster Castle was a treat too. Fantastic grounds, you could spend days there exploring. Nice cafe if slightly pricey. There are some good walks around the site too - down to the Roman Bathhouse, then up and around to the Castle itself. Bracing walks on the beach when the tide was out (it is more of an estuary).
The site I would certainly recommend if you're visiting that area, however having usually stopped more over towards Coniston etc it is much quieter and takes longer to get anywhere! There was a mixture of motorhomes, caravans and tents, with some little camping pods available. Lots of hookups available too. All the pitches seemed a good size, the washing up room and laundry were clean although it may be better to change the washing up room so that there are a couple more sinks?
Lots of trees on the site which I loved, surrounded by fields. The staff were friendly and helpful and there were plenty of tourist leaflets etc in the little information room.

We were looking for a campsite near to Muncaster Castle and this one seemed to be close by and had some good reviews from other people. The staff here were friendly and helpful both on arriving and when we were leaving (checking all was ok with our stay). Our tent pitch was with a couple of others, close to the site entrance and a little road which was very popular with dog walkers and the occasional tractor or car, so it could get rather noisy at times (ear plugs came in handy at night). Our pitch was close to the reception/shop (which had some camping essentials and food/drink/ice creams on sale at certain times of the day). The toilet/shower/pot washing/elsan block was a little further away and up a bit of a hill. We had opted for electric hook up, though our little corner only had one hook up point (for 3 or 4 sockets). Thankfully our connector had enough cable to reach across from our tent. We were given some metal tack pins to use for holding the cable in place - which I'm guessing other campers have had to do the same in the past. Another electric hook up point in this area would be a bonus, to save stretching across. The shower area and toilets were very clean (closed for cleaning at certain times around lunchtime). Only 2 showers (plus a family room), but the showers were how we all prefer them to be (no push button!) with a little bench and clothes hooks in the dressing areas. It would be great if they had a couple of bathrooms too (which some sites have and are always a real bonus). The site is generally a peaceful little nature haven, with rabbits scampering around and little robins posing for photographs on the picnic tables. Sometimes the peace is disturbed somewhat with 'site maintenance' work (which we know is essential, but probably best done at times when guests are out and about earlier on, if possible). We experienced a bit of noisy strimming and leaf blowing right near our tent, whilst sat out trying to relax and have a little BBQ at tea time. We enjoyed a lovely walk down to the Roman Bath House ruins, just down the lane from the campsite, trying to imagine the Bath House how it would have been when the Romans were here. We followed the road round to the beach estuary and took some lovely photos of the area. If you are camping and looking for a place nearby to eat out, there's a pub (The Ratty Arms) near Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway (once the ticket office for the station), which serves good food - but it can get quite busy in the evening. We noticed many tables had been reserved, so its probably a good idea to book if you want to make sure you'll have a table when you arrive. We hadn't booked - but found one table with no reservation on it. If you like trains and history, the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway is one of the oldest and longest narrow gauge railways in England. It is called La’al Ratty in olde Cumbrian dialect - which means 'little railway'. There are a couple of other places to eat out locally (which we didn't try) including a restaurant that specialises in fish dishes. The Ravenglass Caravan Park is a good camping base for visiting the Western side of the Lake District from - and not really too far for driving to Coniston (for Brantwood Gardens, the home of John Ruskin, and those breathtaking views!).

Had four wonderful nights at Ravenglass. As many others have said the staff were exceptional. Lovely greeting and help with a problem our caravan developed en route.
All facilities spotless and well kept. Local area great for walking to Pubs/meals etc. Much to see and do a bit further afield.
We will definitely be back soon.

Lovely site.
Small area at the top of the site for tents but was lovely.
Toilets were amazing! They were always spotlessly clean. Family shower room was brilliant! Two showers in one room with space to hang things (and no push button) - lovely and warm and no wait for it.
Well stocked shop in reception and extremely helpful, friendly staff. Staff always visible, even if it was just maintaining the site.
Site only a 5 minute walk from the Ratty railway and the village, which has a few good pubs for food and drink.
Only downside was the distance the camping area is to the toilets and washing up area, but you can't have everything, there is nowhere for children to play and the entrance / exit is narrow and we had to queue to leave while caravans were checking in and blocking the road.
