Had a lovely 5 night stay at this site, we have been here twice, the first time 2 years ago. Despite the site being full or nearly full for the entire stay it did not feel busy. Very little noise to disturb the lovely peace and quiet. Despite only 2 showers in the ladies, never had to queue.

Great site for some lovely walks, worth a visit to Wastwater about 4 miles away- stunning, and the pub in Bridge Inn near there does wonderful food and is dog friendly.

All staff on site really helpful and friendly, would definitely recommend.

Had a fantastic stay at the Ravenglass site. The staff were very friendly and helpful and gave us brilliant directions.

It was our first camping experience and we managed to erect the tent without any hic-cups!

We used the toilet and shower facilities which were very clean. Also used the washing-up room which was useful. Our children loved exploring and there is a children's play area just opposite the site which they enjoyed!

The site had lovely views and you could hear the little steam train in the distance which was charming. We didn't have time to try it out but it runs from Ravenglass up to the Eskdale mountains which we will definitely try on our next visit.

We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed a lovey bbq before going for a stroll through the village and onto the beach which was very quaint.

I would recommend this site to anyone!

Spent 5 nights here - some days a tad on the wet side!

The site has good facilities - washroom, dishwashing, small shop at reception (good range of food / equipment etc and reasonably priced overall). A five minutes' walk brings you to the mainline station (direct trains to Whitehaven, Carlisle and Barrow)and the La'l Ratty (Ravenglass and Eskdale steam train). The engines can be heard 'revving up' and letting off steam at the end of the day.

A little further away - all of 10 minutes max - is the village of Ravenglass, boasting a shop (limited opening hours), cafe and pubs. (The Holly Bush does substantial and not expensive meals).

The village lies right on the shore line, so great for watching the world go by. A wonderfully relaxing site - despite the weather!

This immaculate site along with it's location is perfect for those who want to explore the West of the Cumbrian Lake District.

The site along with its facilities are spotless & well maintained. The sites managers are very helpful & friendly.

The village of Ravenglass is literally a 5 minute stroll from the site & along the Main Street, which overlooks the estuary, you'll find a Pub/Guest House named The Holly.

The Landlord has an excellent selection of real Cumbrian ales & the food which is very reasonably priced is home cooked & very tasty. The coleslaw which is home-made by the Landlords wife, I can highly recommend!

Overall we highly recommend this site.

Just returned from a 4 night stay on this lovely site. Typical CCC standard. Everywhere spotless and well looked after. We had a nice pitch, loads of room and quite private in a corner of the van field, tents were in a separate field at the top of the site The showers and toilet areas were immaculate.

Flowers and handcream being a nice touch in the ladies side. Showers are roomy, hot and not push button type (I have a real thing about push button showers, and the sites that charge extra for the privilege).

We had a problem with our gas supply and Andy, one of the wardens tried to help us but it turned out to be a problem with the regulator on our van. Andy was kind enough to offer us the loan of a bbq.

Nice stroll from site to Muncaster castle and gardens. Also just five minute walk to Ravenglass village with gorgeous sunsets over the estuary. Couple of pubs and hotels tearoom all doing food.

This was not our campsite of choice as we had wanted to stay in Eskdale, but on enquiring at the other sites it was made clear that a group of 7 would not be welcome!

We arrived at the Ravenglass site and the guy in the booking office could not have been any more helpful, he put our 3 tents all together on a nice secluded plot and we had a great time, we were all in bed by 10:30 and not disturbing anyone!

The toilets and showers (free!) here are spotless and the shower was better than my own at home, the shop sells all the essentials and the site is very handy for the ratty and lots of walks, we would come again for sure. Could not find a 'spar' type shop in the village so best to come prepared. (we may have missed it?)

One piece of advice to other campers. If you barbeque under a tree with rooks in it. Take care for falling 'objects'!

Great site

Just had a long weekend at this very pretty site. The village and beach are only minutes away. The Ratty Arms serves decent pub grub. There are another couple of pubs that serve food but we didn't have time to sample their fare. There is a small but vary nice playground about a two minute walk from the site and next to this is a playing field/football pitch. We had excellent weather and found plenty to do. The wardens are probably the best we have ever met. Nothing was too much trouble and they keep the site in fantastic condition. Superb weekend.

We spent 3 nights at this site and broadly agree with the previous post. The site is beautifully located and is very well kept. The Wardens are helpful and the facilities spotless. Ravenglass itself (about 5 mins walk from site) is a charming little fishing village best known for being the start point for the Ravenglass-Eskdale railway. There are a couple of pubs and a hotel but not a lot else. This isn't a criticism as I found it very attractive. The beach is pleasant to walk along and there were some lovely sunsets.

The directions to the site are from Jct 36 of the M6 or Jct 40. Having done both, I would recommend the Jct 40 option via Cockermouth/Whitehaven. The other is very scenic but hairy in places.

Sadly we were very unlucky with the weather. We visited Whitehaven (lovely harbour but town a bit rough) and travelled on the railway to Boot. This is about as much as we could do without a car, not being hardened hikers. We were due to visit Muncaster Castle but the rain was such that we decided to move on a day early. No issues at all with the site but some decent weather would, I think, have made a pleasant stay into a memorable one. Still, this is Cumbria and the coast at that but it does appear rather bleak in the rain!. I would definitely return to Ravenglass, though.Lovely spot.

Excellent site! We spend 6 nights here for Easter 2011 and had a great time. The site was very easy to find and we were warmly welcomed by the wardens and a map handed out etc. We were given an excellent pitch (14) up the hill where we had great views and it was sunny and peaceful.

All facilities were excellent, the only sticking point appears to be the space between ehu bollards. Very few people could reach. The wardens handed out extensions though without a problem.

The toilet block was great, the gents only had 2 showers but I never had to wait long. The site has a manual barrier to get in and out so is pretty safe.

The shop is well stocked and licensed, local meats available as are papers and bread etc.

We spent time down the grass/beach area where there are a few pubs to pick from and the local shop and ice cream van.

We went on the railway up to Boot and visited the waterwheel / mill museum. This was a good little trip, £1.50 each and it was good fun. The train is about £12 return per adult, under 5's free.

Munster castle is a short walk away, we were due to visit but due to an unforeseen illness we came home 1 day early. We made a visit to Whitehaven which was a lot nicer than I was prepared for. The marina area and the harbour was all good and lots of old mining stuff to look at. They also had a market on and is where we went to the hospital

The Roman bath house is a few mins walk from the site, not a great deal to see but you can walk to the castle through this way and avoid the road.

There is a playpark and ball field just across the road from the site and the train station just after that. Plenty to do without moving the van.

The sea/estuary area looks very different when the tide is in compared to when it is out so I would recommend visiting at different times of the day. We were blessed with lots of sun so had been down morning, noon and night for a look.

A good mix of campers, caravans, motor homes and trailer tents on site and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. No one had a bad word to say about the place.

Have visited this site twice now (April and September).

Even by camping and caravan club standards this site is excellent. Beautiful location with some shelter for tents via trees.

As others have commented, found the toilets, showers and washing area to be modern and very clean. Not too busy at any time but more caravan and motorhomes on the site as opposed to tents so perhaps less people using facilities. Generally found the site to be very peaceful (excluding the grouse that is!)

The wardens were friendly and it is handy to have a small shop on site. Would thoroughly recommend.
