We visited for a weekend, arriving on Friday pm, after a delayed journey and were keen to pitch up. We were seen quickly but told there had been a price rise since taking our reservation. We had to pay the difference. Less jaded from the journey and we would have disputed this, if you book the railway in advance you don't end up paying a walk up fare.

We were shown to our pitches which happened to be a very small area. In pointing out we were 4 tents, 2 trailers and 20 people. The site wardens were very obliging in giving us more space.

Unfortunately the site owner was close to hostile. One child went to the toilet at 0630 and being a 7 year old boy decided to kick a football on his way. He was brought in, told off and no one else was up until after 0700. Other campers were up and about at this time. Children being up at this time shouldn't be a surprise. Certainly lots of adults were.

The children made far less noise than the ruddy great peacock in the farmyard. If I had a decent peacock recipe in my camping cookbook I'd have put it to better use than disturbing the entire site throughout the day and night. Better suited to older people with caravans than tents/families with children.

That said, the facilities were very good and on site wardens friendly.

The owner suggested the peacock was lovely. So are our children. Who collectively make far less noise.

What a little gem, lovely site very clean and well kept. The surrounding areas and walks are second to none. The wardens met us when we arrived and made sure we were set up and settled and were very helpful. We had a fully serviced pitch so had no need to use the facilities but we had a look round and they were spotless. There are plenty of walks from the site into Derbyshire so ideal for the rambler or dog walker. Would use again and they are open all year so considering for the Christmas break. Highly recommended

Just back from a weeks stay here. Fantastic site, spotless facilities thanks to Yvonne & Paul. Lovely views and surrounding countryside, great base for walking. Everyone one kept to the 10pm quiet rule. When packing up in strong winds Yvonne & Paul even offered to help us put our tent down. Hire of fire pit was great, loads of free kindling available. Even though we didn't have children with us this is a child friendly site even providing play things for the younger children. Will definitely be back as this site caters for all.

Just back from a lovely peaceful stay at upper hurst. The site boasts lovely views and a wonderful vista greets you as you walk up to the amenities block. The facilities were of high standard and spotless the whole time even though it was a busy bank holiday weekend. The wardens were very friendly and helpful and were straight on it if you asked for something. They walked the park at the designated quiet time to ensure everyone followed the rule and were happy to ask people politely quieten down if they needed to. This was such a peaceful site, no worries here about getting a good nights sleep! They let you have raised fires and happily provide you with free kindling which was very welcomed. The showers were warm and there was plenty of hot water. There is a freezer, a washing machine and a dryer in the kitchen with two washing up sinks with drainers supplied. The cost of a general clothing wash in the machine was around £4. 20 I noted. Free reliable wifi in and just outside the amenities block with benches supplied! This site was full of very friendly campers, all of which were very chatty and polite. We had a lovely time! the site accommodated our large tent and gave us an ample pitch with a slight slope but we managed on it fine by pitching the best way on it. Lots to do in the immediate and surrounding area. Hartington looked lovely with its village store, tea rooms and ice cream van. We would recommend this site. My only negative is we prefer to camp on an open field when in a tent not one with roads around it, we like the children to be able to have room to play in front of the tent. However we knew the sites layout when we booked so this is just a personal preference. Well done upper hurst you provided us with a lovely stay.

Stayed at Upper Hurst Farm in May. Its in a great location with plenty of cycling and walking in the stunning surrounding area. The facilities are really good and kept spotless by the very friendly wardens, Yvonne and Paul. There is a dog walk on site which is very handy and lovely walks down Beresford Dale where dogs can also be off. Local pubs in Hulme End and shops and pubs in Hartington. Really enjoyed hearing the owls at night. Sue, the owner, is great and nothing is too much trouble. Hope to return soon

Just returned from a 3 night stay at Upperhurst. Site is absolutely perfect. Facilities were spotless and the staff so pleasant and helpful. The only downside was rowdy neighbours who were 2 pitches away from us. There were a few tents and caravans holidaying together with young children. During the day was not a problem but one night they kept us awake until 4 in the morning. They didn't seem to have any consideration for others at all. So much for the 10pm curfew! Don't let this put you off because if you love walking then this is the ideal site for you. We have stayed here many times and hope to return soon.

This is an absolute gem of a campsite. The location is good, very handy for walks nearby for the Tissington Trail and the Manifold Trail and the views from most of the pitches are wonderful. The Owner Sue and assistants Yvonne and Paul were friendly and helpful. The modern and spotless toilet/shower block were busy first thing in the morning, but not really a problem with plenty of hot water for everybody. Free WIFI was available from the area outside the toilet block, which was very handy. There was a big area for exercising the dog and a bin to place the poo bags. We will definitely be returning.

Two Words are all that are needed. JUST BRILLIANT. But ill go on. The staff are the friendliest and most helpful we have ever met. The campsite is heaven on earth so peaceful and clean. The facilities are second to none. The countryside and wildlife just leaps out at you. The local Pub is great for food and beer. Lovely walks surround the site so lots to see. 1 Pub close another 2 within 30 mins walking. If you don't come here you will forever regret it.

Had a fantastic stay at Upper Hurst Farm. All the staff were very friendly. They do let you have fires and even supply you with free kindle. The toilet and shower blocks are like a 5 star hotel. The views from the campsite are amazing. Local village about a 15-20 min walk away with a very nice pub with extremely tasty home cooked food. We will stay here again.

We have just returned from a weekend break at this campsite. The owners and site warden are very friendly, we had the choice of pitches which are hard standing. The toilet & shower facilities are excellent and very clean.

There was a few children's toys on the tent area, I. E little slide, chair, colouring desk, which I thought was a nice for the children to play with.

This is a nice quite, peaceful site.

WI'll definitely use again
