This is our 4th visit to Upper Hurst Farm & I'm sure it wont be our last. Despite an eventful journey, having to clear snow on the lane to the site with the help from a local farmer & his tractor and having to adapt to the limited water & waste facilities due to the freezing temperatures over night, this was probably the best weekend we have spent at Upper Hurst Farm. The weather & scenery was outstanding, perfect for walking albeit some what more tiring having to walk over the snow drifts.
The Toilet/Shower block was clean, warm and inviting at at all times.
The faint hearted folk who cancelled at the last minute missed out on a brilliant Bank Holiday weekend.

WOW! This site is so perfect we almost didn’t leave feedback! Sounds crazy I know, but it is unspoilt and perfect…. Just as we like it. And we found it by accident….
We hated the site we had driven 4 hours to get to and knew we couldn’t stay there, so I looked up UKCampsite.co.uk and found this ‘Gem’. My desperate phone-enquiry asking for a peaceful Peak District stop over, was received by a friendly owner, who had vacancies due to heavy snowfall the previous weeks. She suggested we find a pitch on arrival and catch up with her later. All we knew was that we would be ‘on a farm’ in a ‘field’.
And so we followed her directions from Asbourne towards Buxton. Great central location by the way, equidistant from each.
We drove through snow drifts as high, and higher than the windows on our Shogun to get to this site and as we rounded the corner and drove into the ‘field’ we were speechless. The views are beautiful……the site is so well presented with hardstandings, elec hook up and water for caravans/motorhomes and grass with elec hookup and water for the tents. The shower block is an example to all sites of how well it can be done! Descriptions likening the facilities to 5* hotels are not mistaken, warm stone tiles ‘mmmm. ’
All-in-all we liked the site so much our 2-3 day stopover stretched into 5 and we will definitely come back.
Fabulous walking, cycling, site-seeing location, near (few mins in car) to stunning villages, great pubs and friendly people.
I’m not the first person to call this gorgeous site a ‘gem’ and I certainly will not be the last…. Just wait til you visit!. I must make sure I book well in advance next time.

This is a superb site in an idyllic location with lovely views. Excellent toilet block, great views and well placed water and electricity points. The owner is a really friendly helpful lady, always on hand to help. No road noise. Could be a bit tricky to find if you don't follow the owner's directions due to the narrow roads which SatNav will try to coax you down. Head out for a 20 mins walk to the Manifold Inn for great beer and food in a lovely pub

We stayed 2 nights although there was a lot of snow it didn't stop us having a good time. Facilities are top notch and very clean, we had to use the main road to walk anywhere as all paths were either snowed up or deep in water. The manifold pub was closed on the day we tried to go for a drink but this was a one off we will be going again hopefully many times this year. I think this will be a great site when the weather is better but it was nice to be in the middle of such nice surroundings in the middle of a snow storm. The cost was the only downside but you get what you pay for and everything on this site is good quality.

We arrived at this site on a cold Friday afternoon. We were made to feel welcome by the owner Sue, who explained local biking routes, pubs etc.
The toilet/shower block were very clean, with good hot showers. (perhaps a bin was needed by the sinks to put wipes/cotton wool etc into - as had to take back to the camper to dispose of/or use the bins by the loos and can imagine that would be more difficult to do when site is busier - and no plug or hair drying facilities.
When we arrived back from our snowy bike ride on Saturday - a tent had pitched next to us with a wood burning stove, as the wind was in the wrong direction everytime we opened our door smoke came into out camper. If we had been staying longer than 1 more night this would have caused a problem.
Overall we will be coming back to this campsite as it is in a good location for lots of walking and biking routes.

Just returned from this great site where we spent new year. Despite the terrible rain which did not stop,
The site itself is lovely with wonderful views and the toilets and showers are exceptional. We enjoyed a great pint at the Manifold Inn on New Years Eve which in the summer would be a lovely walk.
Due to the weather we could not use our bikes or take full advantage of this great site. Cant wait to see it again in the summer.

This is an excellent site in a wonderful location if you like the outdoor life! Over a surprisingly (for 2012) sunny November weekend we did bike rides on the Manifold trail (direct from the site), Carsington reservoir, High Peaks trail and the whole length of the fairly-recently-opened Monsal trail. We also walked from the site to Alstonfield and back along the river via Mill Dale. The George at Alstonfield is a pleasant place to stop-off, but is very busy at weekends. We found the bar in the Charles Cotton hotel in Hartington a comfortable place to relax after a long bike ride on a cold day!
As others have said, facilities on the site are excellent - everything is new and high quality. As we had full service hook up we didn't use the showers, but we heard a report that the water was cool on one occasion, possibly due to the hot taps in the washbasins not turning off automatically as it should. Our pitch was a bit sloping and it was difficult to get level even with blocks, but most pitches, especially at the lower end would I think be fine.
I am sure we will be back at Upper Hurst Farm in the future!

Just returned from a lovely weekend. The site is in a great peaceful location but not to far to walk to nearby Hulme End or Hartington. We had a very friendly greeting from the owners. The site has great views all around and there are plenty of walks around which our two dogs enjoyed. All of us were welcomed in The Devonshire Arms in Hartington and in The Manifold Inn(Muddy boots and paws)Facilities are very clean and well kept.
Will definitely be returning again.

We have just returned from 8 nights at the Upper Hurst Farm caravan site and found it to be as good, if not better, than we had hoped. The site is located amidst beautiful rural countryside and the view from every window in the caravan was wonderful.
If you are looking for somewhere tranquil with lovely walks on the doorstep then this is the place for you. Beresford Dale is a 10 minute walk in one direction, the Manifold Trail is 15 minutes in another and the lovely village of Hartington is less than 2 miles away.
The site is clean, well maintained (further upgrading was taking place while we were there) and not overcrowded. The 24 caravan pitches are set out around the perimeter of the site with most of the middle left clear giving the place a very 'open' feel. The utilities block was always spotlessly clean and warm; and free Wi-Fi is available within the building.
Sue, the owner, was most helpful and an excellent host. This is her first season and she is determined to make Upper Hurst Farm the ideal place to stay. Eggs, bacon and a few other items can be purchased from 'Frank's Shoppe' (the Farm House) with additional requirements being met by the stores in Hartington or at Hulme End.
There are good eating places just a short drive away. The Jug & Glass (on the A515) offers value for money food which we enjoyed; but for something more upmarket we would thoroughly recommend the Biggin Hall Hotel in the village of Biggin. We had lunch there, the food was outstanding and the hotel is beautiful.
Upper Hurst Farm deserves to succeed, our only reluctance to submitting this review is the fear that when we try to book in again the site will be full!

Lovely campsite
Big spacious pitches, tap on the pitch, shower block easily 5 star standard.
Lovely location just outside hartington
The site is open and spacious but pitches have trees behind them to give shelter. Nice views across open fields
There is a small shop on site selling eggs and meat
We arrived with a large motorhome plus car and 2 dogs.
Pitches are very easy to get into and level hardstanding
The site managers/owners are really welcoming and friendly
We will be returning
