Great directions and we were met on arrival by Sue who showed us to our pitch. As far as we could tell all pitches have a slight slope so take what ever levelling means you have and this will easily rectify this very slight slope. We didn't go during peak season and it could be a very tranquil site. Toilet block was good although not quite as amazing as some of the reviews, however it depends on what you are used to on a campsite. Lovely dog walking area and as our dogs are not friendly to others having a dogs on lead policy except when walking when the field is empty was a big draw, however no one seemed to adhere to this request even the large German Shepherd owned by the caretaker was off lead around camp at times although not a nuisance unless you count the barking when left alone in the caravan. I was surprised to see that leaving dogs in caravans while owners went out for the day was allowed, certainly 2 small dogs where left in their van for a few hours barking when anyone went near, obviously this did make the site slightly less tranquil, however not annoying just note worthy. I felt the site was pleasant, if a little scruffy at the entrance however I felt it was a little on the expensive side. All in all I would give an 7/10

Excellent site, sue the owner greeted us with a smile and so helpful, showed us to our pitch and introduced us to the wardens who made us feel that we were family. Very friendly and helpful. The toilet and shower block were out of this world, very clean with nice hot showers. The site itself was lovely and clean and the surroundings were excellent. Excellent to the fact we paid a £5 to stay till 5. 00 o'clock. This was the first site we used with our caravan and the super pitches are fab with separate water and waste facilities. There is no doubt in my mind we will be returning to Upper Hurst Farm

I have just spent the weekend at this site. Choosing to use the EHU option with my tent. Let me tell you. It was AMAZING!
I went with 2 adults and 2 large dogs in my Rockwell 5 with Front Extension and there was plenty of room.
On arrival we were greeted by the owner who was very welcoming and handed us to the lovely lady who deals with Pitch allocation. We were directed the the bottom field where the EHU is located and given pitch number 3. After setting up the tent and surplus items we were given a tour around the facilities. A very central bin base where they have all sorts of recycling and green waste deposits as well as dog bins and a drinking water hose. We were about 10ft away from these and feared the smell but didn't need to worry. All of the bins were emptied every morning and afternoon so no flies or nasty smells.
Up to the shower block ( 2 min walk from the bottom field) we were dreading it having heard horror stories about camping bathrooms. Well, we were in for a surprise! the bathrooms were immaculate and clean. Under floor heating with good ventilation. The showers were very powerful and had constant hot water. The toilets were spotless as were the sinks and the bins were empty every time I went.
The grounds were kept brilliantly without a spec of rubbish and the gravel track all the way round was very helpful for the cars as the ground was still quite damp from previous rain.
The upper field that is used as a playing field and dog walk was invaluable during our stay as with two large breed dogs they needed to get out quite often and could be off lead and frolick in the long grass. ( there is a track mown all the way around like a figure 8) I would suggest maybe a couple more dog bins as there are only 2 on the whole site but it didn't cause a big issue.
It was a lovely and clean camp-site that whilst being reasonably busy with families on their half term was still quiet and relaxed. BLISS!
By 10pm in the evenings it was quiet and calm :)
We took a walk into Harrington via the river which took about an hour ( 10 mins along the road) and was again surprised to see how clean and welcoming everywhere is.
I am already looking to book again this year! Brilliant Place with Loads to do. 10* Love it!

We arrived at the site to be told via a note on the reception door to find the wardens in the centre of the park - the couple was very helpful and enthusiastic which was very comforting as we never saw the owner throughout our stay,
The view's are stunning and the toilets and wash facilities are equally as good,
Great location for bike trails and walks
Manifold inn pub is nearby providing great food and live entertainment in the evening.
All in all - what a great place, we will be returning very soon

Just spent the three nights of Bank Holiday weekend at this lovely site. Owner very welcoming. Wardens knowledgeable and friendly too.
Pitch (number 13), was a little difficult to reverse onto with the van due to large stones on the road side opposite the pitch, but with help from the warden, I was able to quickly get set up. Pitch not entirely level, so would recommend taking levelling device for van or motorhome.
Site was very busy, as to be expected during a Bank Holiday weekend, but the facilities stayed very clean, and there was an abundance of hot water in the showers, for which I only queued once, and the OH never queued. Nice playing field for the youngsters to let off steam, and gorgeous views of the rolling Derbyshire hillsides from the pitch.
Hartington a lovely village, although busy. Nice walk from the site. Great local cheese on sale in the cheese shop, and everybody in the group enjoyed a locally made ice cream from the van near the duck pond.
Would we stay here again? Yeah, I think we would, although we may request a different pitch next time, a little closer to the facilities looked a little more level than ours, and it was a little boggy on the grass with the location at the bottom of the hill, coupled with next doors' hosepipe connector having a leaky issue.
Managed a 22km jog from the site on Sunday morning, through Hartington and along the Tissington Trail to Rivendale and back. Not recommended - the hill from Hartington to Tissington trail was a 2km killer, (nice on the way back though).
Perhaps would be a 10 out of 10 site if the pitch had been completely level, (we could not get the awning to sit right against the caravan at all - and we weren't the only ones struggling with that, but that really didn't matter for just three nights), and if they'd cleaned the large pile of grass that had fallen off the mower onto our hardstanding - wasn't nice to walk through as it was starting to de-compost - fussy maybe, but worthy of dropping a point in the overall rating.

Just got back from a lovely long Bank Holiday weekend at this site. It really is beautiful. Compact, with extremely well laid out generous pitches. We were in a mixed group of tents and motorhomes, all placed together so we had a very sociable weekend. The toilet and shower block is very clean, with underfloor heating, which is a real bonus, especially on the cold nights we've just had. The toilet block has free wifi, which does lead to some amusing sights of people going up there clutching their iPads.
The owner and wardens are very friendly and helpful, lending us an extension for our hook up as our lead wasn't long enough.
Part of the field has been turned into an area for kids to play - we watched people playing football and cricket on there and flying kites this morning. So nice to see this provided, instead of the 'no ball games' you so often see.
About 20 mins walk away is a pub serving good food. The village of Hartington is less than an hours walk across footpaths and fields, or slightly longer down Beresfordale by the river. Hartington has a couple of pubs, a village store, a tea shop, the famous cheese shop, and the ice cream van by the duckpond.
An excellent site in a wonderful location - we will be back.

Great site for walking with lovely views across the valley. Near enough to Hartington to walk in the day but busy road so would not want to do this at night. Excellent facilities with superb all round cleanliness and heating good when cold. Poor TV signal and mixed phone signal. Hard standing was mainly sloping so chocks needed. Pub within mile but not tried.

We spent a lovely few days here at Easter, the owner and wardens were so friendly and helpful, the site immaculate and the shower block better than mine at home! Location fantastic with great pubs nearby, cycling and walking. My two kids age 8 and 5 loved playing on the huge ball games field. Nice and quiet by 10pm each night and hardly any road noise. Would highly recommend this site.

Just back from spending Easter weekend at this lovely site, we were in our Motorhome accompanied by my nephew & his wife in their caravan. really there is nothing more I can add to what has already been said only to stress even more what a well kept site it is and to reiterate how welcoming & helpful both the owner & the site warden & his wife are, not forgetting the granddaughter who very kindly researched some direction for us on the office computer. Combined they are a shining example to all campsites of how a site should be run. Would we return to this site ? most definitely !
There is a pub / restaurant that is a short walk away which offers very nice meals though it means walking down a lane & main road that could be somewhat tricky coming back in the dark

Our family is 2 adults and two children aged 8 and 10. We have a well behaved Lab called Gryff and have just visited this site with another family of the same make up. The site is well maintained and has a cosy feel as it is relatively small but this does not detract from the site in any way! The toilet block was very well appointed, modern and clean. The showers were hot and very nice indeed! The wi fi was a bit odd as you had to hang around the toilet block to receive a signal and that may have been a bit off putting for other users when our 4 lads were sat there, although they were only there for a short while.
There is a good sized field for dog walkers and for the kids to run around in. The boys went off and made dens and cycled around.
The location is fabulous. There are great walks for everyone and the views are stunning. Hartington had a local store and some nice pubs but we didn't try the food. Ashbourne is only 15 mins drive for any larger shop needs and quaint tea rooms and boutique shops.
We visited the Staffordshire Knott pub for food which is only a 5 min drive from the site and could be cycled to. The food was freshly cooked and very good quality.
Due to the fabulous location and great views with excellent pitches that were well maintained we would definitely visit again.
