The positives of this site are the facilities and the views. Showers lovely and hot and everywhere was spotless. The tumble drier I used in the pot wash had a coin meter so I loaded it up and five quid later the towels were still damp and I hadnt been drying them from wet either! the site at the first half of the week was too overcrowded. Ropes from the next tent crossing over ours. I could hear in detail next doors conversations at night, snoring the works. The second half was less crowded but that was only as people left if more had booked in it would have stayed the same. There was a playing field/dog walking field for the children to run on. There was building work going on when we were there that was very noisy from eight in the morning diggers etc. We had a couple of dog issues, running round unattended and depositing but these were dealt with swiftly by the owner. Do not go here if you need to stay in touch with the outside world. There is no phone signal here at all and not much in the surrounding areas. Wifi is only from by the toilet block but consistent. Plenty to do in the surrounding area. We went to pooles cavern, did a couple of bike rides. Tissington trail was too busy for little children. Manifold one was lovely. Went to bolsolver castle for the jousting, great day and not too expensive. This site would be a lovely one if the number of tents was kept to a minimum of ten on each field instead of squashing them in. It was very noisy at night time until about 11 when it quietened off. I lost several items of toiletries whilst visiting, shower gel, washing up liquid cutlery, shampoo 8 in total. I ran straight back up to the pot wash each time but they disappeared. My own fault for leaving them there I suppose

First class, really lovely site. As referred to in other reviews, fantastic 360 degree views, and the opportunity to enjoy fantastic sunsets. Well spaced pitches, and the facilities are first class and just seem to be clean all the time. They are that clean that I think it promotes much better behaviour from those using them, I just never found them other than spotless at any time. The owner, is a great host, and clearly has a vision to create a very comfortable, top class site, but fully in keeping with the surrounding area. Hartington, a five minute drive, is a lovely village, and the little Hulme End is a 15 minute walk with village shop and pub. Great base for walking and cycling without having to move the car. Good mix of caravans and tents with equal status. A site with a lovely atmosphere, on a par with the best I've been too, and I can't wait to return.

Read the featured site review and user reviews and decided to visit.
Some ones wires are crossed. The review states 'several tent pitches' I counted 22 tents on a grassed area fit for 10. Friday evening cars were running over guy ropes to gain access to the field, the tent next to us could have used our pegs!.
The site itself is excellent. The best toilet facilities we have used in years ! A walkers paradise ! close to Dovedale Milldale and the Limestone way.
I appreciate its not the site but the people camping on it (you don't recycle bottles at 6 am) but the owners need some advice as to how close, where and more importantly HOW many you allow to pitch. Theres more to running a campsite than Craming them in and organised games of rounders.
Sort out the amount pitching and we would return in an instant.

Just had 2 fantastic weeks at Upper Hurst Farm. The site is in a beautiful location with 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside. Our pitch was part hard standing with water. Electric & grey waste and was very spacious. The facilities were first class as the shower block was virtually brand new. Lovely showers with loads of hot water and they were kept spotlessly clean all the time we were there. The site got very busy at the week ends as it appears to be very popular for folks with tents but this was nice as there was always plenty going on. Sue was very helpful on arrival and gave us loads of info on walks and cycle rides in the local area. We particularly enjoyed cycling on the Manifold Way, The Tissington Trail & The Maunsel Way which are all disused railways and therefore fairly level (we don't do hills!)We will definitely be returning to this gem of a site.

We picked this site because of the reviews and we were not disappointed! The views are lovely and the site itself was perfect. Large pitches with water, waste and electric to hand. The showers and toilets were always spotless and warm. Sue is very friendly and there if you need her. Loads of information in the shower block about the area and places to visit. The Manifold Inn is a 15 min walk away with good selection of beers and good food, We will definitely be back

Stayed on this site over the bank holiday weekend. It is a lovely peaceful site - wonderful setting surrounded by hills, immaculately clean showers and toilets and a warm welcome from owner Sue, who is justifiably very proud of her site.
Pub and tea rooms in small hamlet of Hulme End, three-quarters mile away, or for more choice Hartington, about a mile and a half away, has a selection of places to eat and a few small shops.
Variety of walks from site and it's only around a mile to the start of the Manifold Trail - flat easy walking or cycling for 8. 5 miles on the old railway line. The Tissington Trail is about 3 miles from site.
If you're looking for a site in this area, look no further - you can't better this one!

What a lovely site. As with previous reviews Sue really does look after the site very well. The facilities were spotless and fitted out to a high standard. WIFI available in the amenities block a must with teenagers in toe! The views from the camp site are stunning. Very relaxed site. Lunch or dinner in The Manifold Hotel can be recommended.
Great location to visit Chatsworth recommend the farm shop especially for foodies. Bakewell, Ashbourne close by with Alton Towers only 1/2 hour away. We also hired bikes and cycled the Monsal Trail.
We will be back!

Can't fault this site one bit - very family friendly.
The owners were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the area. They couldn't do enough for you (they even fitted us in last minute on a bank holiday weekend due to a confirmation issue) and they also put on added trailer rides for the children. They have a few animals, sheep, birds and an amazing dog who loved to fetch sticks. This site is amazingly quiet considering you are in the countryside, we came home feeling really relaxed.
The new toilet/shower block was pristine, the site generally very clean and well looked after.
The area has a lot to offer and the site is a great place to do it from. We took a great walk through fields, recommended by the owners, to Hartington which is a small village with two pubs, a few shops, duck pond and a fab 'cheese shop'. You can access the 'Tissington Trail' from Hartington too which is great for cycling and walking.
I have already recommended this site to my friends as it is all a site should be. Please visit this site.

Our 2nd visit to this lovely site, just as good as last year, It would be hard to get any better.
Another warm welcome from Sue the owner, busy as always, keeping up her excellent standards.
Pitch was slightly sloping but not a huge problem to put a wedge under the wheel.
The grass was cut whilst we were there and it did tend to paddle everywhere but we didn't feel that it was a problem, the grass does have to be cut!
The views and tranquillity make this the perfect place to be and we hope to return with friends very soon.

Gem of a site, just 50 minutes from home. They gave us a very warm welcome and couldn't have been any more helpful. Lovely clean site, facilities - 3 showers and toilets, both brand new and kept pristine. Great site for walkers, very peaceful, Hartington only 2 miles away. Wonderful walk from Beresford Dale through to Hartington, stunning views from site. Great meal at The Manifold Inn, 5 minute drive away. Children welcome, but no playground. Dogs welcome, large dog walking field on site. Will definitely be back.
