A great deal of thought (and investment) has gone into this site. It's early days, and the site will soon mellow and mature. However having just been constructed there's a fair amount of brown earth and the new turf needs to settle.

If our visit is typical you will be guaranteed a very warm welcome and Rob is on site to make sure everything runs smoothly. The hard standings are well laid out and each has its own grey water drain and nearby water supply as well as electric hookup.

The rustic barn shower/toilet block is superb. There's underfloor heating, the shower cubicles are a generous size and the sophisticated hot water system is really impressive. To be fair it was having a few teething troubles when we were there but no doubt that will soon be sorted.

The views from the site are amazing. It's like a raised stage in an amphitheatre with the distinctive hills of the area providing a distant 360 degree boundary.

An ideal peaceful 'get away from it all' site with the opportunity to explore all that this lovely are of Staffordshire and Derbyshire has to offer.

The Manifold Inn at Hulme End (about 1 mile walk) is good, if not outstanding, and for daytime snacks the Tea Junction in the old light railway engine sheds is recommended.

A longer walk, or drive, to Hartington opens up the opportunity of the Devonshire Arms. We ate their twice, were really well looked after and thoroughly enjoyed it.

For something really special try the George at nearby Alstonefield. Not cheap but outstanding value. Cordon bleu cooking with a traditional country pub ambience.

Upper Hurst deserves to be really popular so experience it before this little gem gets too well known!

Well laid out new site, in a great location for anyone who enjoys the outdoors. The pitches are plenty big enough for all needs, and the hard standing area is much appreciated when it rains as the grass areas are currently quite spongy.

The shower/ toilet blocks are fabulous, the water is always hot- as a tip press the button a few times if you're the first in to give the heater time to kick in.

The views from the site are stunning and although there are other sites in the area nearer to the picturesque village of Hartington and the pub down the road, this site offers everything you need, although you will need to make sure you pick up supplies when you are out and about as there is not currently a site shop.

There is not a play area on site but plenty of space for our teenagers to amuse themselves without disrupting anyone else's stay.

The owner Sue and her staff were very helpful with our booking and have a really laid back approach on arrival.

We will be returning to Upper Hurst Farm

Have been to the site three times in the last four weeks. It is great value for money considering you have water, electrics and waste. We have paid a lot more at other sites for these facilities.

The toilets which are brand new are spotless and showers are brilliant. The staff are very helpful and friendly.

The pitches are spacious and everyone we have met has loved the site. (not heard anyone make any complaints)

There are some great walks without having to get in your car and this is brilliant having two dogs with us as there is a circular walk which takes about 20 minutes which ideal for their evening stroll.

Hartington is only a couple of miles away which has some good pubs.

Will be going on a very frequent basis over the coming months.

Just returned home from a very enjoyable weekend at Upper Hurst, we were the first visitors to arrive, the toilet block was not quite finished when we arrived on Friday but was up and running on Saturday. It was worth the wait as these are some of the best toilet and shower facilities that we have used. We got a very warm welcome when we arrived, Sue and her staff are very helpful. You must try the free range eggs from the farm they are fantastic. We can not wait for our return trip, Thanks Sue for our weekend stay, see you in May.
