We have just returned from 6 nights on the site. At the point of booking we had a few issues around our dates and had to amend a couple of times and Sue the owner was very accommodating and couldn't do enough to help us.
Once we arrived the wardens showed us to our pitch, we had to spend a little time getting the levels right as it is on a slight incline, but once levelled no problems! The wardens pointed out to us the grass hadn't been cut but this was not a problem to us as not that long!
The toilet block is beautiful and kept immaculately clean at all times of day. Ample showers/toilets for the size of the site.
Lovely area for walking, and the views very nice too.
I wouldn't recommend the Manifold Inn as others have, as the beer was warm and there were very noisy children when we visited unfortunately. Would definitely recommend the half hour walk though to the Staffordshire Knot though!
The only downside to the site is the fact they allow fire pits and these are allowed at your pitch and unfortunately we were smoked out two nights running, one night the neighbours burning a pit from 4. 30pm until after 10pm. We did pick this up with the site on the last night as couldn't have coped with a third night and whether they had a gentle word or not I am not sure but there wasn't a fire!
I have since contacted Sue the owner and she has come back to me immediately with a response to advise they are going to amend the booking form to make users aware and that they should use the pits with consideration for neighbours and they have reconsidered and now are only allowing fire pits on the field at the main entrance
Would I return?? Without a doubt!
Fantastic owner of a site to respond and address the issue so quickly.

Returned home from visiting upper hurst farm for the first time, what a find upper hurst is, absolutely fab, really nice quiet site in a stunning area
Access too site is good wardens ready too great us when we arrived and show us too our pitch, the pitches are arranged around the perimeter with a few tent pitches in the middle all pitches around the perimeter are hardstanding with a grey waste disposal at rear of pitch with a fresh water tap also there, and 16 amp hook up too boot
The caravan may need a small amount of levelling side too side but nothing too great
As said before the toilet block is second too none under floor heating lovely warm free showers superb !
As having not got children with us I cant comment too much about child facilities but there is no play ground but there is a field !
Dog walk is ace big field too walk round with bins on route
If you like star gazing then this is the place too be there's hardly no light intrusion so the night sky looks brilliant
Sue the owner is very approachable and will always try too help in any way too make stay even better the wardens are out of the same mould could not do more too make stay perfect
All in all I would recommend very much I will certainly return

Quick early year weekend visit to learn about our outfit.
Lovely site. Beautiful views over the surrounding hills - easy access. Shame about the overcast/rain.
Pitches seemed a bit tight at first. But we don't have a lot of experience to compare. We need to experience these sites when they are full and buzzing!
Super Serviced pitches so all inclusive - good elec hook up. Facilities compound in middle of the square site. Very good. Toilets etc only 50 meters at worst for anyone. Excellent facilities.
Reception was belated and not directed at first due to owner being absent (cannot be there 24 hrs) but very soon rectified as the owner, Sue, came around as we were setting up. Sue was very informative and warm. It appears that they are 'inter-regnum' with Wardens at the moment and that was perhaps noticeable. Other reviews say the parting Wardens were exceptional. The new ones will hopefully be as good.
TV reception ok. Wi-Fi only by toilet block.
Good location for surrounding countryside. Hartington is delightful as are many similar nearby market towns.
Very good (slightly pricey) Sunday Lunch in wonderfully set The George at Alstonfield - book in advance.
Would we go back. Definitely.
Incidentally, very good website.

A lovely site in a great location, with toilets and showers that are nicer than many hotels and always immaculately clean, though we never saw anyone cleaning them. The owner organised a Halloween party and decorated the barn and made punch, the children really enjoyed dressing up for it. There are miniature horses and alpaca in fields around the pitches.
You can hire a fire basket and get fire wood and there is Calor gas available to buy.
In October it is was a bit wet and muddy, it is drier up the hill towards the shower block.

Had a lovely stay here this weekend, the toilet facilities are really clean and the showers are good. The people who look after the site are very friendly and helpful.
The views are lovely to, it is a nice quiet campsite even though it was full.
We walked the the manifold inn pub about a mile away which was nice and friendly, we would visit this campsite again its very nice.

Absolutely loved this place. Fantastic location, clean, well run, and friendly. There's a large field with mown paths for walking the dogs, and also a mown pitch where the children can play. The shower and toilet block is spotless. This was my first visit to the peak district, and the first family holiday together that we've had for 15 years. A huge thank you for making it a great time to remember. Would I go back? Absolutely!

Very friendly site with hard standings and grass pitches on a hill with great views and a large, spotlessly clean toilet block. We visited on a very busy weekend when all the hard standings were full and most of the area reserved for tents was also full.
The facilities were more than adequate to cope with a full site. There was a great atmosphere on the site with young families and children. It was fun but not noisy.
We booked at the last minute but Sue bent over backwards to help and found us space for 3 nights which, although it involved changing pitch after the fist night, was no problem. They took the trouble to see you to check everything was OK.
The site is well located for cycling the Manifold Vally and not too far from the Tissington Trail and the High Peak Trail. The latter is absolutely wonderful for cycling and walking with stunning views.
It is a popular site for good reason

Visited August 2015. Received a warm welcome from Yvonne and asked if we needed any help setting up. Yvonne and Paul maintain the site beautifully, all areas including showers/loos and pot wash were immaculate even at weekends in a very busy period. The site itself was very well situated, not too far from any one place; Bakewell, Buxton, Ashbourne, Matlock are all within 30-45 mins drive, and Hartington itself is a lovely little village. There is a field for games (multiple families playing rounders one evening, great fun), a dog walk area and a take away pizza van calls occasionally (pizzas were delicious) and it's possible to hire fire buckets which are very sociable!. Have rated 8/10 for site facilities as these were a bit limited; phone and internet signal is poor, being in the hills, and there is no shop, so it's off to the village (2 miles) if you need anything. Nearest pub/restaurant is 20 min walk across field or slightly longer by road (or a few mins drive). It's also a little expensive but you get what you pay for in my view. Overall though, for peace and quiet and a clean, well-maintained site, you couldn't top it and we would definitely book it again if we were in the area.
