Facilities were fantastic! New, spotless, a dream!
Site owners, friendly, helpful but the pitches were not good. Not level - most pitches difficult for an awning? Grass too long and many 'bites'!
Views to die for! Heaven! Beautiful area!
If the pitches were level and the grass area shorter it would be an idylic site! A bit more planning and experienced supervision on site would make this a perfect site!
We would like to return but these points need to be adressed as there was was no seasonal tarrif when we were there! Incentive for low season/ over 50's etc. ??? Bank holidays/highseason take care of themselves and can be premium rated!
Great potential to be a premium site!
( PS the seasonal pitches seemed to occupy the most level pitches???)

One of the reasons we chose this site was because it has only recently opened and its close location to Hartington and the Tissington Trail.
The owners and people working at the site were very helpful, friendly and on hand if needed.
The site is a lovely size and we had a lovely big space to pitch and park our car. We prefer smaller sites as have young children and prefer the peace and quiet and this site doesn't disappoint as there is no road noise and it is situated in a lovely area with beautiful views.
As the site has only just opened, the facilities are fantastic. Always very clean at any time we visited and there are plenty of cubicles / toilets for the amount of visitors. We particularly liked the fact there is a disabled / family wash room.
We will definitely be visiting the site again.

Our visit to Upper Hurst Farm was quite a wet one.
The facilities are excellent but being a new site I would have expected them to be.
The showers cubicles would have been better if there had been a shower curtain as I had to be careful that my clothes and towels didn't get splashed.
The site is surrounded by beautiful views and is very peaceful - our children were able to amuse themselves easily.
The Village of Hartington is small but beautiful. There is a general store in the village and a small newsagent selling groceries. There are a couple of pubs selling meals in the village.
We visited Tissington with a view to walking on the Tissington Trail; we set out to do this but had to turn back due to the weather.
Due to the weather we feel that we didn't explore the local area properly and so will be returning to Upper Hurst Farm in the near future to do this - hopefully the weather will be better next time.

Just returned from a great Bank Holiday weekend on this lovely new site.
Fantastic panoramic views from all around the site.
Lots of walks across the fields but be aware the cows don't like dogs and will give chase particularly if they have young calves! a very unnerving experience.
The toilet and showers are second to none, underfloor heating and spotlessly clean.
The owner Sue and her staff are always on hand and gave us a very warm welcome.
We intend to put this great site on our return list and hope to be back soon, bringing more friends with us to enjoy it.

We have just returned from 2 nights at Upper Hurst Farm, camping with friends. This is our sixth camping trip this year, including a very wet and windy (gale force winds) in Cornwall over the bank holiday week.
This is our first stay at Upper Hurst Farm. The site has Excellent facilities, lovely new and exceptionally clean toilet / shower block. Free hot showers, and under cover washing / laundry area, again exceptionally clean.
Good location, 1 mile from Manifold Trail. Manifold inn also 1 mile away if you want a local pub or to eat out.
The Site has one major problem which is the drainage on the Tent site, the slope of the site is enough that when it rains the water runs under your tent like a stream.
The ground is also very bumpy with holes which hold a lot of water, Our tent is a really good quality Outwell with a footprint and carpet and it was lucky we had these as underneath was like a bog and the water didn't drain.
When it stopped raining the water just sat in the tent field. You could feel the water squelching every time you moved inside and outside your tent. It was such a shame as this has the makings of a brilliant little site.
This probably isn't such a big deal for hardstandings with caravans and motorhomes as they are raised but for tents this is a problem and this is why sadly I have had to mark this site down for it's overall rating.
As good as the site facilities are we won't be returning because of the site drainage.

Awesome site. Friendly welcome from all. Toilet Block and general facilities were second to none.
Great dog walking area and beautiful surroundings. Pitch well serviced and blocks are required.
Sue welcome to any new ideas. Would most definitely visit again.
Only a short walk from the pub and they welcome dogs inside which was very nice.
Like a previous review. Would be a great location for an adult only site. Not that I don't like children but there is absolutely nothing for them to do.
Plenty of lovely walks all around.

Had a very good stay at this (what will be)an amazing site the views are stunning every where you looked- washing up was a joy as you looked out onto the beautiful surroundings. The site just needs to settle itself a bit
The loos and showers are really good the block is one of the best we have been to - had a bit of trouble with the hot water one morning but just had to put all the hot taps on to get it pumped through - not any bother though-
Pitches are a good size (had to chock our caravan to get it level)
Walks from site really good the manifold inn good and the manifold way walk is very pleasant as is the tissington trail only 5mins from site
Also a must walk is down to beresford dale and along the river to hartington - 10/10 lovely, was nice not to use car every day and even when we did nothing was too far
Would be really really good if turned to adult only
Will be back hopefully this year if not next
Well done sue and her team (rob) for a really good holiday keep up the hard work!

Just back from a week spent in our Hi Gear Zenobia 6 tent at this terrific little site. The setting in the heart of the Peak District is beautiful.
The site offers hard standings for caravanners around the perimeter and tent pitches in the centre. Fully serviced caravan pitches £20 a night) and EHU pitches available for tents too at £18 a night.
There is a slight slope, but nothing to worry about.
There are beautiful walks to be enjoyed in every direction and picturesque little villages like Longnor and Hartington itself to be explored.
Hartington has a post office and a couple of general stores. Buxton, Bakewell and Ashbourne are all within 20 minutes by car. The 422 bus service runs between Buxton and Ashbourne and passes through tucked away hamlets and villages. The bus will stop for you at the end of the lane close to Upper Hurst Farm.
The star feature of this site (apart from owner Sue Dillon and her ever-helpful sidekick, Rob) is the outstanding shower/toilet/laundry block. New, spotless, free and constant hot water and fittings that would do many a hotel proud. You simply will not find better.
Sue has eggs, milk and newspapers available. Just ask when you check in. The pretty Manifold Valley Hotel is only a 15 minute stroll away (not cheap but good food) and there are two pubs in lovely Hartington village a mile and a half away. Take my advice - head for the Jug and Glass pub a mile outside Hartington on the Buxton road and enjoy superb, inexpensive food - 30 per cent better than the other pubs and 100 per cent better.
A smashing site.

A great deal of thought (and investment) has gone into this site. It's early days, and the site will soon mellow and mature. However having just been constructed there's a fair amount of brown earth and the new turf needs to settle.
If our visit is typical you will be guaranteed a very warm welcome and Rob is on site to make sure everything runs smoothly. The hard standings are well laid out and each has its own grey water drain and nearby water supply as well as electric hookup.
The rustic barn shower/toilet block is superb. There's underfloor heating, the shower cubicles are a generous size and the sophisticated hot water system is really impressive. To be fair it was having a few teething troubles when we were there but no doubt that will soon be sorted.
The views from the site are amazing. It's like a raised stage in an amphitheatre with the distinctive hills of the area providing a distant 360 degree boundary.
An ideal peaceful 'get away from it all' site with the opportunity to explore all that this lovely are of Staffordshire and Derbyshire has to offer.
The Manifold Inn at Hulme End (about 1 mile walk) is good, if not outstanding, and for daytime snacks the Tea Junction in the old light railway engine sheds is recommended.
A longer walk, or drive, to Hartington opens up the opportunity of the Devonshire Arms. We ate their twice, were really well looked after and thoroughly enjoyed it.
For something really special try the George at nearby Alstonefield. Not cheap but outstanding value. Cordon bleu cooking with a traditional country pub ambience.
Upper Hurst deserves to be really popular so experience it before this little gem gets too well known!

Well laid out new site, in a great location for anyone who enjoys the outdoors. The pitches are plenty big enough for all needs, and the hard standing area is much appreciated when it rains as the grass areas are currently quite spongy.
The shower/ toilet blocks are fabulous, the water is always hot- as a tip press the button a few times if you're the first in to give the heater time to kick in.
The views from the site are stunning and although there are other sites in the area nearer to the picturesque village of Hartington and the pub down the road, this site offers everything you need, although you will need to make sure you pick up supplies when you are out and about as there is not currently a site shop.
There is not a play area on site but plenty of space for our teenagers to amuse themselves without disrupting anyone else's stay.
The owner Sue and her staff were very helpful with our booking and have a really laid back approach on arrival.
We will be returning to Upper Hurst Farm
