We have visited this lovely campsite several times before and couldn't wait to come back. The pitches are spacious, and we had a hook up for our tent. We were in a group, and were all placed together. The toilet/shower block is extremely clean and warm, with plenty of hot water.
The views are amazing, and the site very tranquil. There's a field with goalposts for children to kick a ball around on away from the main site, and a small playground. The shetland ponies and the alpacas on site are also great for children to watch.
The wardens couldn't have been more helpful, even driving my husband who had a leg operation and couldn't walk far to meet us walkers for lunch, and then driving him back to the site.
There's a pub 15 minutes walk away which does good food, and the village of Hartington is about an hour's walk if you go down the beautiful Beresford Dale.
Another lovely weekend, and we will be back ;-)

Had a lovely 2 nights on this site with excellent weather to boot. Wardens are friendly enough and had no problem booking in. There had been a problem with the balance paid however (via bacs payment) but they were great about it and instead of demanding payment (like some other sites might of) they said leave it and check your bank details when you get home and ring us if its not gone through. Very trusting and an excellent way of sorting things. It transpired that the payment had gone through and just an admin error.
The pitches are big enough, but even though it has water and drainage on each pitch the standpipe on most pitches were quite a distance from the pitch and on the other side of where the majority of water inlets are on most, and our water pipe didn't reach, a problem we've never encountered before. You will need chocks or most of the pitches! the website doesn't mention that the site is on a gentle slope and on our pitch it took a lot of levelling. Toilets and showers are fairly new so are clean and in good order, personally its not 5 star toilets as most say, I've had far better facilities in a few places. Teversal in Nottinghamshire knocks spots off these facilities, why? well for a start I don't think there is enough, it was half full when we went and still had to wait once. The cubicle doors have a latch on and no indication of whether vacant or engaged on the outside, not everyone remembers to lock the door! not the type of thing you want to see, someone sat on the loo! Also they offer a fire pit which is a crazy idea, I'm a firefighter and have been to numerous fires started by a stray ember, bad idea, don't use one. Dog poo bin was overflowing all the time we were there, I even saw one of the wardens look in it, shut it, and not empty it??? All in all though a pleasant stay and would probably go again, but ask for one of the pitches at the bottom of the slope.

This is a beautiful site. The wardens on site were great very friendly and helpful.
Views from the site are fantastic and the wardens even let you face your caravan the other way to take in the great views.
The toilet/washrooms are exceptionally clean with lovely hot free showers always a bonus! A massive thumbs up to the wardens for their hard work.
Dogs are also made very welcome and there is even a dog area for your faithful friend to wander around and have a run.
We will certainly return here in the near future and next time a longer stay is on the definitely on the cards.
THANK YOU.

Sadly we were disappointed as the website mentioned peace, tranquillity and more. On arrival, staff were very friendly and showed us to our pitch. The site was tidy and clean. Toilet facilities were modern and clean but unfortunately not adequate for the large amount of campers that turned up plus broken toilet seats in the ladies, having to queue for 20 minutes for a ladies loo is not on. The site quickly took on the appearance of a commercially minded campsite. The rules of the site were ignored by many. The power tripped off twice on Saturday evening, no apparent reason. It was not the peaceful and tranquil break that we thought we had booked.

Read the reviews, they were not wrong, the site very well set out, pitches fully serviced, hence the price, but well worth it. Showers are 5 star. Plenty of room for kids to play. Pub 1ml down rd on left great food. Also back in hartington 2 pubs both serving food. We didn't try any of these but they were both recommended, we will try on our next visit which will be November this year. This was our first visit to this site on my arrival the wardens were waiting booking was in was very easy, and the lady walked me round the site so I could choose my own spot. Everything was spotless. There are some shops in hartington and a shop down near the at hulm. They have shetland ponies and alpacas. Matlock buxton all within a short drive. The road in is narrow but easy to negotiate just take it easy there are pull ins just in case. If you are into walking the tissington trail is on the door step as are other walks. The site is nice and quiet, not well lit but you can manage even without a torch. The owner and wardens we found to be very helpful and easy going nothing to much trouble. Looking forward to November pie and peas.

A lovely site however in our instance our stay was spoilt by noisy children and barking dogs. The site is quite small and therefore difficult to get any peace and quiet from large groups of children with dogs and bikes.
In the advert for the site it says something about enjoying the peace of the countryside, not in July or August!
On the positive the site is immaculate with the best washrooms I have come across on a campsite. The views are magnificent and electric hook up is available for most pitches. It is however expensive as well.
I would use again but not in the main season.

Just returned from our second visit to this lovely site in the Peak District National Park.
The site was extremely well looked after as usual with excellent toilet and shower facilities.
The weather could have been better but hey it's England, but the last few days made up for the very wet days.
Everyone is made very welcome and the wardens went out of their way to ensure we were sited exactly how we wanted to be.
This site is ideal for anyone wanting a quiet and relaxing holiday.

We have stayed at this lovely campsite before and couldn't wait to return. It is in an excellent location, about a 20 minute walk to the nearest pub and shop at Hulme End. The pub has a very good menu, and the shop is very well stocked.
The site itself is excellent, no frills, just very generous and level pitches, and an excellent amenities block. There is always plenty of hot water, the toilets and showers are immaculate, and warm, and there are good washing up facilities. The views across the countryside are spectacular.
A slightly longer walk, anything from 35 mins to an hour depending on the route, takes you to Hartington, a lovely village with a duck pond, cheese shop, chocolate shop and a couple of very nice pubs serving food, as well as an excellent village store which sold everything we needed.
The wardens were extremely friendly and very helpful - nothing is too much trouble for them.
This is not a campsite for those wanting lots of entertainment, playgrounds etc, but if you want a relaxing time away from it all, this is the place. We have taken children of all ages and they love it too.

Lovely half term stay in a beautiful site. Plenty of space, electric hookups, spotless shower block and rarely any waiting needed. Football pitch and dog walking meadow at the top of the site had the most stunning views. Nearby were plenty of good eating places and shops to cycle/drive to. Loads of info on everything to do and see in the main block too. Peaceful (although child friendly) and welcoming.

This was our second visit having had such a good time previously in a tent we decided to make it our first stop in our new campervan. The newly appointed wardens were very friendly and helpful, the facilities were first class and spotless as ever. Better than some hotels actually. There is no shop on site but a short walk into the village is a shop that sells pretty much anything you'll need. There's also a pub with excellent beer and food. There's a large field for the kids to play in, with goalposts! I'd definitely recommend this site though I'm hoping there'll always be room for us when we want to get away from it all for a weekend.
