What a fabulous site! The owner was very welcoming and her site is in a lovely location. The shower/toilet facilities are of an exceptional standard. Sue's previous experience of caravanning is plain to see in her attention to detail and the site reflects her passion for nature and the environment. We would highly recommend this site.

This is an excellent site for winter caravanning. Peaceful & quiet, superb views. Excellent heated toilet and shower block. Footpath walks from site and easy vehicle access. Hartington is a very popular place, very quaint and typical of Derbyshire village life. Nearby is the footpath to Beresford Dale and the Manifold Valley, both are must do's when you stay at this site.

Spent 10 nights at this really lovely site in our Fifth Wheel caravan. Sue the owner is very pleasant and really welcoming.
Immaculate showers and toilets (underfloor heating)! Brilliant location for walking and near to pubs (one in village does really good food and is dog friendly!). Hartington (about 1. 5 miles away) has a couple of shops where you can get essentials and even some non essentials. Wonderful views from the site and it was really quiet when we were there. Agree with comments about dogs - couple of people came in a tent on the Friday night and let their dog wander all around - even into the toilet block! We will definitely be going back.

Our favourite site in the Peak District! We had a lovely few days here in August. We found the owners extremely helpful and friendly. The facilities were excellent! For walkers, there are numerous routes to take, for drinkers, there are lovely pubs nearby and for those wanting peace and quiet, there are beautiful views fro the site itself. We have been twice this year and will definitely be going again.

This is our second visit, we first visited in June 2012, as it has been said previously facilities are immaculate, the site was busy but we never had to wait for showers, washing up facilities etc. We were on a hard standing and I am glad we were because tents in the middle tent area were pitched all over with not much space in between them.
The local area is beautiful and views from the campsite outstanding, we walked from the campsite down to Beresford Dale and then to the village of Hartington. As the children were to tired to walk back we caught the bus up to the Manifold Inn and walked back to the campsite from there.
There are a couple of shops in the village for essentials so it is advisable to take your food with you.

A nice site in a great location. Great walking, cycling etc. Good dog walking field on site. Easy walk to village with shop and pub (dog friendly).
Toilet block sparkling clean even when busy.
I'm afraid the disorganised cramming in of loads of tents into the middle of the site doesn't work. The site was overwhelmed by them and the tranquillity of the site was lost.
Site owners make rules and they should see that these rules are kept, it is their responsibility to ask late night revellers to stop, not the campers. Or if people are not tethering their dogs around their units to ask them to do so, dogs naturally wander and are inquisitive. Also notices should be put up to ask dog owners to clear up because some still do not. (I'm a dog owner)
This site would be great out of season, it has everything going for it but I think I would steer clear during w/ends and holidays if you want peace and quiet

Excellent location and easy to find, access is good. Good for walking and cycling.
The owner is an excellent host, nothing too much trouble and was very accommodating in fitting us in at the last moment, showed us our pitch and facilities. The facilities are first class and very clean, plenty of room in the shower/toilet block, didn't have to queue even though site was full, especially with tents; just got one gripe and previously stated by someone; the tents were a bit crammed in and all over the place. Some tent owners had their cars, 4x4's parked half on the grass, half on main track restricting access and generally a bit tricky to get around as it's not very wide to start with; could do with a separate car park for people with tents because there just isn't enough room to accommodate tents and cars around this grassed area. A bit more organisation of tent pitches would be advisable. Pretty quiet though, to say there was a lot of people with children on site.
Liked the central recycling area cleverly concealed. The views from my pitch (13) was excellent, looked out onto pleasant countryside.
Will definitely visit again.

This is a wonderful campsite in every way, firstly the Showers/Toilets are those of a 5* site always impeccably clean and never empty toilet roll holders always full, The scenery is just perfect and when the weather is kind there is nothing nicer than waking up in such a splendid place, we went Monday to Saturday and had 4 days & nights of bliss peace & tranquillity, Friday nights however were rather the opposite with campers turning up at all times leaving car engines running for half an hour at 23. 00 hrs and not showing any respect to the 10pm quiet time, this however is the rudeness of campers/Caravans and at no fault the campsites fault so if your going be considerate to the times of quietness and other people! Plenty of walks and cycle routes nearby which we did and enjoyed all if them, The owner Sue is one of the nicest people you could wish to meet. The local Manifold Inn is a lovely place to eat (You must Book for Friday evenings) and also the Devonshire Arms in Hartington both splendid food places. We most certainly will be going again next year.

The positives of this site are the facilities and the views. Showers lovely and hot and everywhere was spotless. The tumble drier I used in the pot wash had a coin meter so I loaded it up and five quid later the towels were still damp and I hadnt been drying them from wet either! the site at the first half of the week was too overcrowded. Ropes from the next tent crossing over ours. I could hear in detail next doors conversations at night, snoring the works. The second half was less crowded but that was only as people left if more had booked in it would have stayed the same. There was a playing field/dog walking field for the children to run on. There was building work going on when we were there that was very noisy from eight in the morning diggers etc. We had a couple of dog issues, running round unattended and depositing but these were dealt with swiftly by the owner. Do not go here if you need to stay in touch with the outside world. There is no phone signal here at all and not much in the surrounding areas. Wifi is only from by the toilet block but consistent. Plenty to do in the surrounding area. We went to pooles cavern, did a couple of bike rides. Tissington trail was too busy for little children. Manifold one was lovely. Went to bolsolver castle for the jousting, great day and not too expensive. This site would be a lovely one if the number of tents was kept to a minimum of ten on each field instead of squashing them in. It was very noisy at night time until about 11 when it quietened off. I lost several items of toiletries whilst visiting, shower gel, washing up liquid cutlery, shampoo 8 in total. I ran straight back up to the pot wash each time but they disappeared. My own fault for leaving them there I suppose

First class, really lovely site. As referred to in other reviews, fantastic 360 degree views, and the opportunity to enjoy fantastic sunsets. Well spaced pitches, and the facilities are first class and just seem to be clean all the time. They are that clean that I think it promotes much better behaviour from those using them, I just never found them other than spotless at any time. The owner, is a great host, and clearly has a vision to create a very comfortable, top class site, but fully in keeping with the surrounding area. Hartington, a five minute drive, is a lovely village, and the little Hulme End is a 15 minute walk with village shop and pub. Great base for walking and cycling without having to move the car. Good mix of caravans and tents with equal status. A site with a lovely atmosphere, on a par with the best I've been too, and I can't wait to return.
