This is a lovely, family friendly campsite with spectacular views of the river Dart. The location is fantastic for accessing various local towns, beaches, harbours and attractions.

The pitches are slightly sloping (which meant that my children all ended up at the bottom of the tent every night) but it is manageable. Our 'extra-large superior pitch' was just the right size for our 6m tunnel tent, however when the site was busier (at the start of our stay) the site did feel rather cramped.

The playground is great and central to the campsite The showers/toilets were always clean and the water was lovely and hot.

We really enjoyed our stay here and will probably return next year.

We have just come back from a 6 night stay at Galmpton Touring Park and were really impressed.

The camp site was well kept with spectacular views of the River Dart and was in a good location to be used as a base to visit attractions in the surrounding area.

There was a playground for the children which they thoroughly enjoyed and a shop in the reception area, which sold the bare basics and newspapers which could be ordered in advance.

The camp site was busy but this did not pose any problems for us. Occasionally I would have to wait to have a shower in the morning but there would only be about 2 people in the queue. There were 5 showers in all which had a shelf, 3 pegs and a stool to store your belongings. The showers were powerful and always had hot water. The shower block/toilets were clean. There were even cubicles in the female block, with a sink in if you wanted to have a wash in private.

We took ice blocks with us but found out that you had to use the ice blocks which the camp site provided. You paid a £1 deposit per ice block and 20p each time you swapped it for a frozen one. The system seemed fair to me. The camp site would freeze your own ice blocks prior to your journey home for free if required.

The pitches were slightly sloping and I do mean only slightly. It was not an issue at all.

The staff were really helpful. We managed to trip our electric (our fault, we had the fan heater and kettle running at the same time!) but once they were informed, promptly sorted the problem out.

I would have no hesitation in recommending the camp site and will certainly be returning in the future.

We have just spent a fantastic week at this site.

We checked into reception and straight away one of the site staff kindly volunteered to tow us onto our pitch as it had been raining and the grass was wet. All the staff were so friendly and happy to help.

The site was really well laid out so all pitches had spectacular views over the river Dart. The sunsets every night were amazing and we got some fantastic photos. Although it was school holidays we were never disturbed by children playing as they had a good sized play area.

The shop on site is well stocked with the essentials and reasonably priced unlike some we have been on. There is an information hut complete with book swap by reception.

The shower block was cleaned regularly and there was always plenty of hot water. It was very busy on a morning but we found that later in the day it was nice a quiet. They provided a hairdryer free of charge.

There is a beach in walking distance and main supermarkets are only a few miles away. We used the park and ride into Brixham a couple of times which was good and only £1. 70.

The ferry over from Brixham to Torquay was good value too at £3. 50 return.

On leaving the site the very nice man with his tractor towed us off our pitch and up the hill to reception as we were having problems with our clutch.

First class site and service and we would have no hesitation in using this site again or recommending to others.

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at Galmpton. The site has spectacular views, good facilities, clean showers and toilets. I liked the recycling bins, takes more time to dispose of rubbish but it's a good example to children.

The site is slightly sloping but manageable. The reception staff were very nice as my husband requires his medication kept cold and they were very helpful regarding storage.

The site is well placed for visiting lots of places, we liked the information centre adjacent to reception.

The only downpoint is the pitches are small, some units take more than their share and others are virtually touching.

Just returned from site. It is a beautiful clean site and wonderful views. Shower and toilet block kept spotless. My 4 year old granddaughter loved the playground.

It is very close for visiting lots of places and the park and ride into Brixham works well as was the ferry to Torquay. The local pub was good too.

We would say the pitches are very close together and my daughter and husband were squashed onto our pitch as theirs was not in a good place to let cars get out of the field.

The lady on Reception was helpful but the owner not friendly.

Just spent 10 days at this site with my wife and 2 year old daughter in our folding camper, but also with my parents in there motorhome and my sister, brother-in-law and their 3 little boys ages from 2 months to 5 years in there folding camper.

Upon arrival we were shown to our pitches and basically told to park onto the muddy part of the pitch where the last occupants had pitched as not to spoil any more of the grass and thus the grass doesn't get to breath and re-grow, meaning that the way we had our awning placed we were walking out onto the pitch marker post which stuck out of the ground about 3 foot. These posts were, in my opinion, incorrectly positioned and were more of a hindrance where they are situated in the middle of the field and should have been set back towards the hawthorn bushes, and therefore would not be in the way.

The pitch was also on a hill which was a little tricky to level up for myself as I had to chock up one of the wheels and then level out the rest of the camper with the nose nearly touching the floor and the back end sticking up in the air, as for my parents in there motorhome they had it far worse with 3 of the 4 wheels on chocks all at different heights as to get it level. Needless to say my parents didn't move there unit for the whole time that they were on this site and got myself and my sister to run them around in our cars so that they didn't have to go through the pain of leveling it up again.

Once we were set up we all had fantastic views of the river Dart from our pitches which was beautiful and was a 10 out of 10 view especially at sunset.

For the first few days we were constantly walking grass into our units and discovered that when they cut the grass at this site, the sit-on lawn mower does not have a grass collector, which is much easier for the the site, as not to dispose of, but is a nightmare for campers alike to keep their units tidy, especially if you have baby's and toddlers crawling across the floors in your unit. I have generally found that most sites I have ever visited, the lawn mowers have grass collectors on, especially on the major club sites.

The toilet block was kept clean, however a little dated. You needed a £10 deposit to use the baby and toddler room which is shared with the disable toilet room.

The mains thing what frustrated me with the toilet block was the push button showers which lasted for about 10 seconds and then needed depressing again, so by the time you get shampoo on your head the shower stops, you've now got your eyes shut as not to burn your eyes from the shampoo and your searching about the wall for the button again, then half way through the rinse the same happens again. I found it much simpler to have your back onto the button

The other thing which was a little annoying with the toilet block was the fact that it was situated at the top of a hill and if you were disable or found it difficult to walk, it could be an inconvenience.

The site was situated in a good place if you want to visit the surrounding places such as Brixham, Paignton, Torquay and Dartmouth.

To get to Dartmouth, you have to cross at the ferry's.

There is a passenger ferry which charge £1. 50 per person from Kingswear. The top car ferry is £8 return, which is a ferry that pulls itself across the water by wires and is a large ferry that can hold up to around 24 cars on. The lower car ferry is personally my favourite as it is a more traditional ferry operated by a tug boat and can only hold 8 car max at a time and is only £6 return, also this ferry will take passengers over for just £1 so you can save 50p by going on the car ferry rather than the passanger ferry.

Dartmouth is a beautiful place to visit and can be reached by the road or if you fancy you could go to the top of the road from the campsite and catch the old steam train to Kingswear then take the passanger or car ferry over to Dartmouth.

There is also a children's park on the site which is ok and the little one enjoyed it.

One thing I did not like about the site was the 10am kick off rule. Most sites these days are a 12pm (Midday) kick off's, and when you have little ones it makes it much harder loosing those crucial 2 hours.

We were actually late at setting off from our pitch and managed to set off at 10:15am but just before we departed we were hurried off our pitch and told that somebody was coming and as I was moving away from the pitch after hitching up the bagless mower was already going over the grass around the muddy area of our awning.

Enjoyed the views and surrounding areas, however was less impressed with the tricky levelling and sloping site, mower with no grass collector, 10 second shower push buttons and the 10am kick off policy, then being hurried off because I have gone over the time.

Just returned after staying for two weeks on this site. Exceptional facilities, beautiful position on the hillside overlooking the harbour below.

The toilet and shower facilities were really good, thank you to the owners for providing electric hairdryer - no messing about with 20p pieces to 'feed it' - if I had realised there would have been no need to take my own.

The site is kept spotless, it's in a convenient place for visiting the surrounding areas. I would highly recommend this site to anyone visiting the area, yes it is hilly but the plots are all as level as you could get given that Brixham is a hilly area anyway. People with caravans had them 'jacked up' on bricks to keep them level, no problems at all for any of the owners when we spoke to them.

If your looking for a lovely site to stay at, try this one, the Manor pub in the village just down the road also serves exceptional meals and reasonably priced too. Also very dog friendly. Overall a place well worth the visit.

Spent 5 nights here at the beginning of July. Beautiful site. The tent areas were on a slope, we were pretty much at the top and suffered a gentle slope in the one area of the pitch. We stayed on a superior pitch with a 6 man tunnel tent EHU etc, I must admit the pitches were a little on top of each other.

Views were excellent and generally it was a very tranquil site. Shower block, yes was a little dated but functional and exceptionally clean. The showers were hot but not too hot, they are the type like at swimming baths where you have to press the button every so often with no temperature control. However I found them to be a comfortable temperature as was the toilet / shower block in general.

Location wise it was fantastic so close to paignton and the zoo, short drive into Brixham (although parking not great in Brixham. )

Small shop on site but quite limited we went to local supermarkets for most things.

Overall impressed with site and definitely would go back in future years.

Beautiful view! well kept site, with plenty of space. One toilet block serves the whole site, so there is a longish walk for some, with a hard climb up to the block - they do allow blue badge vehicles up to the block, but no room for turning and a very steep roadway!

There is an 'under5's' bathroom and a disabled toilet shower, both key-protected for which you pay £10 deposit.

Disabled bathroom adequate but very chilly and unwelcoming - if you want to use a hairdryer you need to go into the ladies or gents! Toilet block kept very clean, but now dated and chilly.

Play area, dog walk, friendly staff. Recycling needs a bit more thought: too many general dustbins, but site kept very clean.

We have just returned from spending 12 nights at this site and thought it was absolutely fantastic. Set in the hills with stunning views over the Dart valley.

The park is extremely well kept. The tent field is on a downhill slope but all the pitches were terraced and so level. The large shower/laundry block which serves the whole site has ample showers, sinks and wc's and I never had to queue.

There was always plenty of free hot water. The block was always spotlessly clean and had been newly painted. The staff were always friendly and helpful. There is a small laundry area which has 3 washing machines, a tumble dryer and an iron which are all coin operated but fairly reasonable.

Just down the road is a lovely pub, The Manor Inn which serves excellent food and not just your usual pub grub. They have a steak and quiz night on Thursdays which was good fun. Close by is Brixham which is lovely.

We didn't discover this until the last day but there is a park and ride service to Brixham every 10 mins. Parking is free and the bus costs £1. 50 return per adult.

Much easier and cheaper than driving round to get to the car parks in Brixham itself! We had a wonderful stay and would definitely go back again.
