Excellent site, Brilliant location good facilities, ( shame only one toilet block and situated remotely from site. Number 12 bus to Brixam regularly. Gentle walk to bus stop and good value fare 2 adults and a dog £ 5:00 return. Pub in village (return trip uphill) local village owned and run by inhabitants would be good in the future.

We are a couple in our 20's. We looked at several camping options in the Brixham area for a week's holiday. We used the internet as our resource just as you are now. Galmpton touring park looked like just our sort of place and the description of the park and facilities on their website were very attractive.
Here are the main features of the site that they miss out of their marketing: Camping area is situated on a sloping hillside so you wake up in the morning, your bed having moved in the night. Tourers will need some big blocks under the wheels. Toilet/Shower block is on top of a hill within the site which has two steep slopes or a set of steps leading to it. They DO NOT freeze your ice blocks. They do however offer a service where you borrow blocks for £1 refundable deposite and 30p refreeze charge PER BLOCK. No thankyou.
The site stresses that it is a quiet family site which chooses not to have a clubhouse or pool for this reason. Sounds nice??, don't be fooled, it's as noisy as any other site. Only at this one they choose to police their anti-noise rules inconsistantly, choosing only to ask the people they feel they would least offend (young couples etc.) to turn down their barely audible wind-up radio at 4pm.
The site encourages you to use local shops for your food and the local pubs for your evening out, which is a nice idea. But (strangely) close the gate on you at 11:15 pm so you can't drive to your tent/tourer. Only 15mins after last orders!
One thing I have to mention is the showers.HOTTTT!, children were crying and climbing back out of ths showers as their parents were unable to control the temperature of the single push button on the wall. Oh, and there is only one soap dispenser and hand dryer in the whole block which has approx 10 wash basins.
Don't get me wrong, this site has some beautiful views of the River Dart and is in a good location if you don't mind driving (well, queing). The staff are reasonably polite and friendly. They just need to focus there efforts on the more important things about making people's holidays great.

The picture on the front of the brochure is exactly what you see when pitching your tent. The view across the River Dart is just stunning at any time of the day. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful, even having someone there to show you where to pitch. The pitches are large and though on a slight slope are even and stone free. All the tents are pitched away from the caravans and motor homes giving everyone the same chance of having the fab view. The toilet and shower block is a bit of a walk from the bottom of the field but is spotless and I never had to queue. We were there before the kids broke up so the site was quiet all the time but there are two play areas for children. Two wardens are always on hand to see to any queries you may have. The shop is open twice a day and sells the basics as well as very tasty ice cream. Although it is only a short distance to the village, less able bodied people may find the walk back a challenge as the hill is very steep. I would recommend this site and look forward to visiting again.

First time I have been to Galmpton Park. Easy to find off the Ring Road. The owners and wardens are very friendly and helpful and you always see them around the site. The views are fantastic, this is what really made it for me about the site. It is just so nice to sit outside your tent, having a BBQ with a beer in your hand just admiring the view. The pitch is marked out with a post, but the warden or owner will tell you where the boundaries of the pitch is. The tent field apart from a few selected spots, slopes. The level pitches I think are reserved in advance but people in the know!
There is only one toilet block, which is clean and looks up-to date. Plenty of loos, showers and basins. The washing area is inside and combined with the laundry area. The only one slight niggle for some people may be that the toilet block is on a bit of a hill. Although there is step free access, the slope up-to it, might a tough for someone in a wheelchair. Excellent site which we will be returning to.

Great site with fantastic views wherever you go on the site. Tried the croissants they were fab. Plenty of beaches, Paignton, Torquay Brixham within a few miles so there was plenty of places to see even though we have been to this area there is always something different. Bad points about this site are the hill to toilet block and office are killers. Not enough lightning - we used a big massive torch but could still fall over. And if you have your tv on too loud the warden will be round to tell you to turn it down as it can be heard 4 caravans away. Apart from this it was a lovely site

What a great site! Very impressed all round. Has fantastic views over the river Dart down the valley, and in a lovely quiet location. Not far off the main roads, so easy to find too. Camped in tent on a great spot. There is one field which looked quite sloped, but where I pitched they have terraced the pitches so reasonably flat. Facilities great and clean. Hairdryer in shower room, washing machine and dryer in washing up room, plenty of toilets and showers, recycling facilities, childrens play area, and a small field for dogs. The staff are helpful and patrol the site plenty of times in the day and evening, so no noisy campers to disturb you. Absolutely no complains and would go there again. Only wish I'd taken my gun to deal with the noisy morning crows. One of the best sites I've visited so far.

Still as excellent as others have described. Views fantastic and the pitches are laid out so that you are almost guaranteed a view. Extremely friendly owner who even lent us tools when we had a water leak in our van. Excellent children's play area. A great day out is to walk down to Galmpton quay and get the little tiny ferry into Dartmouth, wander round Dartmouth, then cross the river to Kingsweir and get the steam train back to Galmpton and finally walk back to the park. Highly recommended.

This site was recommended to us by my parents and I must admit they were spot on. Beautiful site - brilliant views of the river Dart. Friendly and helpful staff and good facilities. An ideal base for exploring Torbay and the surrounding area.
The only problem we had was the size of the pitches. We have an Outwell Colorado 5 and struggled to get it on our pitch and have room to sit outside. Other than that its an excellent site and well worth a visit

We have just returned from a really fantastic stay at this campsite. As others have said, the view really is quite incredible! We extended our intended 4 night trip to a week, partly due to fantastic weather. We did not use our camper van from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. If you are prepared to walk down (and back up!) the hill into the village, you really don't need a car, as their is tons to do, and the busses are v.good. The site itself is very friendly, clean, and well thought out. We have a six year old, who we barely saw, as the play equipment is excellent. However, this site never felt as though it had been taken over by kids (as some do!) Can't wait to go back next year.

July 2005 Just had a nice week at this park. The weather was good. Staff very friendly and helpful. The view of the Dart Estuary is excellent especially at sunset. The pitches do slope but a few bricks and chocks soon sorted that little problem ! It is very pleasant and though quite small is well laid out. The quite large toilet / shower block etc is mainly clean and well serviced if a little dated. There is no club and only a small shop but there is a pleasant if basic childrens play area. The site is close to Brixham in one direction and Paignton/ Torquay in the other. Access is "OK" from the main Road but you have to drive through the narrow village streets - not difficult, but be careful. We'd book again if going to Torbay.
