My wife and I spent the last 10 days of last season at this site. The pitch was hardstanding with electric, water and waste water although levellers were needed for our motorhome. The owners were very kind and helpful and the site immaculate and well looked after. The main drawback was the distance to the toilets and waste amenities as they were tucked away in one corner of the site. The views of the river Dart were really stunning especially in the evening. Although dogs are allowed we rarely heard them barking. Additional night lighting on the site might be helpful. The small shop was sufficient for small items, milk, papers etc. Ideally situated for Brixham,Paignton and Torquay the site is excellent value for money, we have now booked to return in March for a weeks stay. A really excellent site just perfect.

We spent a week here at the beginning of August and everything was excellent. The staff at the campsite couldnt have been more helpful. The facilities were dated but always spotless and the showers were always hot. The shop stocked everything you could think of. The pub in the village does really nice food that is good value for money although the walk back is all up hill and hard work! The surrounding villages and towns are really nice, and although close to the main attractions the campsite is just the right distance for it to be peaceful.

This is the second time that we have stayed at this site. The first time in a tent and the second time in our caravan. I have to say that the main attraction of this site is the outstanding view which is far better from the tent field than the caravan area. The facilities are good and kept very clean which I think is also helped by responsible campers that you do not always find on larger sites with more extensive facilities. I do feel though that the facilities are stretched in peak season and I waited 30 minutes for a shower one morning. Be warned though the wind across this site can be awesome - only to be expected from the location, in a tent it can be pretty scary at night, in a caravan we did not notice it as much but it did delay us being able to put up our awning. We had a deluxe pitch this year for our caravan. We were a little disappointed with this. Firstly as pointed out by a previous review you are right at the bottom of the field and the views are not that good. We arrived after a period of rain and this continued throughout our stay with some periods of extremely heavy rain. Whilst this is not the fault of the owner the deluxe pitches at the bottom of the site are exposed to the elements being at the bottom of two several steep slopes. The road down to this area becomes a pot-holed mud bath and our awning was flooded with puddles and we could not use it for its intended purpose. In the end we had to ask the owner for some duck boarding to stop us sinking when entering our awning. The ground was extremely slippy and my husband fell on his back ruining his clothes one day, the mud in this area is thick red clay and impossible to clean from your clothes etc., again not a fault of the site. I have to say we did not expect this when booking a deluxe pitch and as previously mentioned it is a hike from these pitches to the facilities at the top of the hill. Whilst we were there the owners did admit that they were thinking of contacting people prior to their arrival to give them the opportunity to cancel and we think they should have done this. Our awning was brand new and as previously stated covered in the thick red mud that is characteristic of this area and is somewhat ruined. Whilst we were there the owners were towing vans on and off these bottom pitches with tractors. Don't get me wrong this is a great site with good facilities and attentive owners although they are over zealous with some of their rules. They do however, need to make some investments to the bottom deluxe pitches to include improvement to the road, drainage and facilities within this area of the field - it is a nightmare walking up to the facilities block to empty your toilet. We do like this site and find that the local area accommodates our 11 year old son with many activities. The owners are friendly and the fresh baked croissants are lovely. A few improvements are needed although, we have made a provisional booking for next year on a hardstanding pitch though. We would recommend you visit this site if you want peace and quiet and access to an area with a variety of attractions. It certainly gets a thumbs up from us although one more year of bad british weather may force us to a better drained, more commercial site.

Spent five nights at this site and what a disappointment.
Firstly the views, they are excellent I cannot fault that. However I paid extra for what I was told was a deluxe pitch? I had my own water supply granted, but was 350 paces up-hill from the one and only shower block, where the only chemical waste point is, not easy carrying toilet cassette that far to empty. Or to take the kids to shower!(not aloud to use your vehicle either as no parking available) the laundry and washing up are all situated within the shower block.
Back to my pitch, which was neither level or hardstanding. After erecting the awning on what grass was left, yes I know weather cannot be helped but whenever it rained, our deluxe pitch was flooded! the road, well stone track(tarmac finished at start of our deluxe row) turned to mud as all water from site drained down it.
On arrival you will receive site rules, which include no washing lines, no kite flying etc. It goes on.
Our three young children although a good play area provided did not enjoy the site.
It is a good location for Brixham and surrounds and nearby to many 'family day outers' but have seen other sites nearby and will be giving those a try.

Great site visited for two weeks in 2007 and 2008. Only just joined this forum for reviewing but wanted to leave a review for Galmpton as we had four weeks here over the two years with small children. The area is a beautiful part of the UK and this campsite has everything, clean facilities great pitches, family friendly and an outlook to admire over the river Dart. Had horrendous storm of 70mph winds but still stayed the course. The owners were terrific and helpful. Plenty to do in the surrounding parts of Brigham harbour, Torquay and Babacoombe the kids really liked the model village. Very good shower block, nice and clean. The tumble dryer was slow but only had to use this as we were there for two weeks and weathered the storm.

What can I say that has not already been said. This is an excellent site in every way. Pitch sizes and positioning are superb (as the website says, everybody gets a view), though not all are level and chocks / blocks will be needed (some provided by wardens if asked). The toilet block, which we found spotless at all times of the day during our 12 night stay and reception / shop can be quite an uphill hike dependant on where you are pitched. The warden and assistants could not be faulted and were out and about most of the day and always happy to help and chat about the surrounding area. The local attractions and towns are all within easy reach with good bus services. The only negative points being the access through the village when towing, with cars parked all over the place and the soggy pitches but this was due to the weather and the site staff were working very hard to solve this problem, laying land drains on the pitches. All in all we had a very enjoyable holiday here and will most definitely be going back.

We discovered this site by chance after having abandoned a planned site due to disappointment (check out my reviews!). The site was immaculate and although full, the owners did their best to accommodate us when they found out we were desperate for somewhere to stay.
They allotted us a lovely pitch on its own triangle, with a spectacular view down to the River Dart estuary (see my Gallery). There is only one toilet block and thankfully we were close to it but I can imagine that it would be a pain having to trudge there in the middle of the night if you were situated further away - especially as they are reached via a fairly steep slope. Nonetheless, the facilities were spotless with the friendly on-site wardens ever apparent, cleaning and polishing.
We did, however, have one major hitch. As you may remember, the weather in Aug 06 was horrendous and one night we experienced an absolutely torrential downpour. Unfortunately the water ran down the slope from the toilet block, over the road and straight under our sleeping pods, coming to rest ON TOP of the groundsheet. Luckily, something had made me lift the power supply equipment onto a table at bedtime, thereby protecting it, but everything else on the floor was saturated - clothes, books, cereal packets, toys etc etc - plus, as we went to investigate in the dark, our sleeping bag trailed behind us and ended up totally sodden!
To their credit, the owners & wardens were immensely helpful the following day, digging a trench behind the tent to allow the water to be diverted - but not before another torrential downpour descended and the whole scene was repeated once more!
All in all, we found this to be a lovely site. Despite the drenching we had, we think our pitch was one of the best, due mainly to it being fairly flat: many of the other pitches, particularly in the lower fields, were quite sloping which can be annoying in a tent. The shop at Reception was well stocked and their croissants (ordered the day before) were lovely.

As virgin motorcaravaners, and neither of us having camped for over thirty years, it was important to enjoy a good first experience. Jackie didn't seem too keen at the thought of going away in my impetuous purchase, but.
We arrived at the site after following the clear directions, and received a really friendly welcome from Pam. Next was John the warden, who took pity on this newcomer and even let me use his hose to fill up the water tank when mine didn't seem to fit the tap. A really helpful and friendly chap.
The outlook was about as beautiful as I've seen anywhere, I now think better than sea views as you overlook the Dart river and look across to the countryside. Breathtaking!
Facilities were clean and easy to use. Even Jackie managed the showers, push the button and you get around 30 seconds of nicely heated water. Just don't stand under the initial stream unless you fancy a cold blast. The shop was small but useful, with newspapers available for order.
Everyone we met on site was pleasant; I couldn't believe how well this first trip went.
There is a decent pub nearby, food OK but not that inspiring. The produce in the village shop looked lovely, and we will definitely use the butcher next time.
Downsides: only that the weather was so fantastic for early May combined with a fairly quiet site. It is unlikely that I will ever get the combination of weather and relatively low occupancy again, so I've been spoiled. Even worse, we only stayed for three nights because Jackie was due back at work. Wish I was still there.
Bottom line, fantastic.

We stayed here for 8 nights. We have stayed here before, the last time was 2 years ago. Its is a lovely site, with great views. The wardens are very friendly and helpful, they show you to your pitch and are always around should you need them. The toilet and shower block is clean, I had no problems with the temperature of the showers, they were just the right temperature, not too hot, not too cold. There is launderette on site with a tumble dryer and iron which is very useful. There is also a small tourist information office where you can get details of all local attractions and events. There are lots of places to visit nearby, such as Brixham, Paignton, Quaywest, Broadsands Beach, Cockington, Torquay. The car ferry to Dartmouth is within 5 miles. There is a problem with traffic queues, on the ring road. Everytime we had to go to Newton Abbott we were in long traffic Queues there and back, it got very frustrating at times. We had to used it a lot to get to such places as Dartmoor, Trago Mills, Exmouth, Haldon. Overall we had a great time and we will come here again.

Beautiful and clean site, impressive views. The toilets and shower blocks were clean with good facilities. There was a small playground with met our young son's needs. The owners very helpful especially as our car had broken down and we had to be towed onto the site. The wardens towed the caravan to our pitch. The freshly baked croissants ordered daily were the best and the site shop will even order scones for your clotted cream. Will definitely be returning here next year.
