A quiet family run site for touring caravans, tents, and smaller motorhomes, with great river views over the River Dart. The wardens (Michael and Peter) couldn't be more helpful, especially with regard to siting on this sloping site.
There is a small shop on site, and one washroom block which was spotlessly clean. There are some super pitches, though these tend not to have the best views (The tents tend to have the better views.) There is a mix of terraced pitches and those on sloping grass hillside.
There is also a children's playground, with play ship and other play features. In one corner of the site there is also a dog walking area.
There is no swimming pool or bar/ restaurant facility on site but there is a pub in the village which does reasonable food. By 11 pm all is quiet on this site, and the gate is locked at 11.15pm, though there is a parking area for late arrivals. Dogs are allowed except in summer peak weeks.
If there is a criticism it is that the underside of the car caught on the speed humps, and that the showerblocks felt somewhat dated, the toilet emptying place was in the shower block area (which was up a steep slope and a long way to go for us), and that we personally didn't like the gate being locked.
However despite this we had a great week and have booked to return later in the year.

Every now and again that magical caravanning holiday happens. Upon arriving at galmton we were dealt with at reception very courteous and friendly manner with instructions as to where our pitch was.
On entering the park I just had to stop and take in that first view of the dart estuary fantastic. I just had to smile. Following on we were met by site wardens peter and mike who guided us to our pitch and nothing was too much trouble, they really made us feel welcome
As mentioned the views are fab although everyone gets good views. Our pitch was on a slope but not a problem, a bit of adjustment to the awning and it was fine. Beautiful well cut grass. Everything clean and tidy. Being a caretaker of a school noisy children is sometimes an issue but I can honestly say all was peace and quiet.
Yes this site is a gem if you've never been before go for it we will certainly be returning

Excellent and clean facilities, friendly helpful owners/staff, stunning location and views over the River Dart and with the backdrop of Dartmoor in the distance. Only a few minutes walk to Agatha Christie's Greenway House (National Trust), and the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway. Fantastic walks and beaches all around.
Further afield in this area of South Devon there is the fabulous Torbay coastline and beaches, the ancient fishing port of Brixham, the attractions of Dartington, and the southern and eastern foothills of Dartmoor.
This site is a fabulous location either for a full holiday or a short break.

This site was wonderful - clean and plentiful toilets / showers. Same again for the washing up facilities. Fantastic views and helpful wardens in their smart uniforms.
The only negative would be that they seem to have units packed quite close together. For us this time it wasn't a problem - it was quite quiet and no-one was next to us for most of our short time there.
We would definitely return to this site.

When we arrived at the site,we were blown away with the views. The pitch was on a slight slope. But not an issue. The facilities were good, there were four empty pitches by us on first night, so it was peaceful. However the next day four families pitched up, and one of the group had a five year old who did nothing but moan and cry. His mom cold not control him. She even put a spider man cd on for him at 2 am. I told the warden next morning and his response was 'well it is august' I will have a word. The next two mornings were were woken at 6.45 with loud tv. We decided to leave a day early as this was not my idea of a peaceful holiday. The consideration of fellow campers on this occasion spoilt our visit to a pretty camp site.

This has to be one of the best campsites we have visited. The views from the site are stunning and the pitches are well laid out. My nine year old daughter loved the playarea which is situated in the centre of the site making it safe for older children to play on their own without constant supervision. The toilet and shower block were immaculate and were cleaned several times a day. Very friendly and pleasant staff with on site wardens which was a bonus. Would definitely recommend staying at Galmpton and if we visit this area again we will definitely be coming back here.

We had a wonderful stay at Galmpton touring park. The views over the river Dart were magnificent and the campsite was in very nice condition, with a spotless clean facility block. It was checked several times a day. The pitches were fine and well kept. The area has a lot to offer and the friendly staff at the campsite is very helpful to give you good tips! Our children came over (18, 20 and the boyfriend 23) for the last week, and even they had a wonderful time at the site. The two wardens kept them busy at some moments.
There are nice beaches nearby, where we spent several nice evenings (with irn bru and vodka, unknown in Holland). The price for pitch, food and drinks and attractions were very good. We really fell in love with Devon and clotted cream! Chris, Pam, Guy and certainly the two very friendly and nice SUPERWARDENS MIKE and PETER, you made it a really great holiday for us and we really hope to see you again.

Facilities, toilets/shower block always spotlessly clean and tidy. Play area clean, interesting and well maintained play equipment our 3 Kids (3,7 and 9yrs) used it constantly making friends along the way! Site itself, well maintained, rules there to keep the site quiet and peaceful for all holidaymakers. Very child safe. Tourist info room, up to date and well stocked, Reception organised and efficient, Croissant / bread and paper orders very well received. Wardens always about if assistance was required but never intrusive. Had excellent weather except 1 wet and windy night and day. Surrounding area, has plenty to do whatever the weather, however old you are and whatever you are interested in. Activities were not as expensive as I had thought, ask at Reception for discount vouchers to some attractions.
My family and I really enjoyed our holiday and the park being so good made us enjoy ourselves even more. We will hopefully be returning next year.

We stayed here for a week and we loved it. We did not have particularly good weather but had a serviced caravan pitch with hardstanding. The owners and site manager were lovely and friendly and very helpful. Toilets always clean and plenty of hot water. The views over the Dart were fantastic.
Excellent for exploring nearby Devon. Pub/restaurant in the village was ok but lots of other places to eat in nearby Paignton or Brixham.
Though we don't have any young children there was a good sized children's play area which the kids seemed to enjoy.
Very peaceful and quiet - our kinda place!
Small shop with limited items.
Would definitely visit again.
Great value for money!
