This large site has excellent views over the river Dart. Staff friendly and as others have said the toilet/showers a bit dated though with plenty of hot water. Was on a four for three night deal via their website which represented good value. Used the local pub the Manor a couple of times, nice friendly pub but thought the food rather average for the price and the real ales a bit below par and be prepared for a steep walk back if on foot. A 10 min bus service from the main road which we used for visits to Brixham, Kingswear, Paignton and Torquay which takes a 15-20 min walk and involves a couple of steep hills. Exceptionally quiet at night.

Was very grateful to the site manager to be able to stay here as I turned up late and they could not have been more helpful.
The site is, as others have said, very well kept and clean.
My little one person tent was a bit lost on the generous sized plots, but that didn’t matter as the views from the door over the Dart were fantastic. Note: I think the site is priced per pitch rather than per person, so as a back packer, with a car, as I was, made the price per night seem higher than that which I would normally pay just for a small pitch. – no complaints though.
Good spot as a walking base, easy to walk down to National Trust’s ‘Greenway’ with continuation down the valley to Kingswear, from where you can get a bus back.
Good pub, ‘The Manor’ just 600M from the site.

Dog-friendly site which was lovely and quiet during our late September visit, well laid-out with stunning views over River Dart. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Toilet/shower block a bit dated but very clean. Plenty of good dog walks direct from site which suited us really well as it meant we could leave the motorhome on-site. Short walk to dog-friendly pub too. Will definitely go back to explore more in the area. A very small on-site dog field but with walks so close it wasn't really a problem.

This has to be one of the best sites we have stayed on. The views across the Dart River are fantastic. The toilet and shower block were clean, there is an indoor washing up facility and washing machine and dryer. We asked to change pitches as number 85 was in the shade, it was no problem and when our electric hook up cable wouldn't work we hired one, with a returnable deposit, so no charge. All the staff were helpful and friendly, giving advice on the local buses and ferries. The ferry to Dartmouth is a 25 minute walk along a lovely country lane, the steam railway runs past the campsite and is a 15 minute walk to the local station. The buses are also a 15 minute walk away, with direct routes to Brixham or Paington. Totnes is definitely a place to visit, lovely shops, cafes and restaurants. The steam railway was great, lovely views along the river, then the coast. The Manor Inn in Galmpton village is a 10 minute walk away and serves lovely food, has a great garden and friendly locals. The village shop is well stocked and there is a butchers next door. We loved our stay here and will definitely be back.

Have camped at this site before, but have just returned from a three night stay in a caravan. We are new to caravanning and this was our first ever trip. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The warden parked our van for us and helped us get set up and levelled. We were so grateful as we didn't really have a clue!
Site facilities are very good. Toilet/shower block is spotlessly clean. Views from all over the site are beautiful. Would also highly recommend the pub a short walk down the road - food was excellent.
We will definitely be returning!

Just returned from a fabulous week at Galmpton. We keep coming back - think this is our sixth visit - and there are so many reasons why. The views of the River Dart from the site provide hours of pleasure watching the boats meandering to/from Dartmouth and Totnes, as well as the most beautiful sunsets. Site is immaculately maintained with clean, spacious bathrooms (never had to queue for a shower yet) and spacious and clearly defined pitches.
Staff at Galmpton are always very happy to help and willing to go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your holiday - nothing is too much trouble.
A new addition this year was the visit of the pizza van to the site every Wednesday - pizzas were made and baked while you wait and were delicious.
The area has so much to offer - Brixham and Dartmouth are our favourite places to visit - being motorhomers we use the bus to Brixham (no. 12 runs frequently and the bus stop is a 15 minute walk away) and the ferry from Greenway Quay to Dartmouth (about a 30 minute walk) or walk the coastal path.
Galmpton has a good pub which serves lovely meals (advisable to book as it's popular) and we also recommend the village butcher (tasty rib-eye steak) and grocery shop. All within walking distance.
It's a wonderful, peaceful site to sit back, relax and enjoy the views. We have already booked for September 2016 so that says it all.

Beautiful site, the views are stunning over the river Dart. Staff were very welcoming on arrival and the chap who took us to our pitch told exactly where everything was. Pitch was fairly level and well kept. There is no lighting around the pitches only the toilet block so make sure you're equipped with a torch. The toilet/shower block is very clean but a bit dated compared to other sites we've been to but cleanliness is our priority, you can have the most up to date showers etc but that's no good if there filthy! So 10/10 for cleanliness. The only downside is the road to get to the site, obviously not the sites fault but parked cars on an already narrow road make it a bit of a pain to access. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would definitely go back.

What a beautiful well kept clean and tidy park, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The toilets although dated were spotless and actually suited us fine with lovely hot showers. We have been to many sites over the years but we absolutely love this site with so much to do and see. We parked our car up for the whole week and used public transport as it wasn't too Far at all. We bought the jubilee pass for two days unlimited travel on the steam train and boats and we went down to greenway key and went on a ferry to Dartmouth which was lovely but we felt that one week was not long enough to do everything so we will definitely come back thank you

This is the best campsite we have been to in the 10 years we have been camping. The site is beautiful, VERY clean and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They guide you to your site and give you a quick rundown of things on the site and bass rules. The shower/toilet block is cleaned thoroughly 4 times a day and the showers are great. Children's play area/badminton net and permanent ping pong table. Fantastic view of the river dart. Bricks provided for levelling. Needs more washing machines. Although it is not a big campsite, there is only 1 washing machine. Could do with a couple more hair driers too, but We will most definitely be returning to this site next year and the following. There is so much to do in Devon and it is like a second home to us

Very welcoming park staff and one of the best views (of the dart estuary) that we have come across.
Facilities are very good. National trust Greenways house within 30 mins walking distance. Dartmouth is within easy access across the higher ferry. Would thoroughly recommend for visiting Dartmouth and the surrounding area.

Management response: Many thanks for your review – we are glad you enjoyed your holiday and hope to see you again |
