Stayed at leadstone for 2 nights last week. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Facilities were clean, showers and toilets cleaned regularly, even late at night 1030pm I saw cleaners in there.
Showers cost 20p per time but it lasts for a long time so 20p is more than enough for a decent shower and hair wash.
Pitches were clearly marked and large enough for a tent, windbreak and car. Camping in close proximity to the toilets, showers, washing up area, and play park.
Facilities did get a little busy around peak times and queues did start to form for the toilets late at night. Showers tended to be busy around 6pm and 8am but that's to be expected.
There are several showers on site though so with a bit of patients everyone will get their turn.
No music and tvs after 2230 and quiet after 11pm.
Short walk (or drive) from the beach, shops and nature reserve. Also crazy golf, rides, and several good food pubs near by.
Short drive from dawlish and teignmouth, also trains and boats operate near by between local towns.

I have been looking at visiting Leadstone for a couple of years. After e-mail confirmation easy to book. Arrived without hitch and met by owner, showed to pitch in lower field.
Pitches generous. Ground quite hard, so take a mallet and try to avoid stones.
Concerned about number of toilets/showers, but really surprised that we never had to wait to use thes, with 20p giving generous wash after day on the beach, and owners kept them really clean.
Play area well used, but quiet by 10pm. Be prepared for early alarm call, as the family element of the site did not seem to appreciate a lie in.
Well placed site for; Dawlish Warren, good beach, but best to wander to quieter areas, not much to see or do apart from this, but Geralds supermarket reasonable.
Dawlish- quaint. Nice walk along coast from Dawlish Warren
Teignmouth- great visit for beach, town, crabbing and skate park which my son loved on his scooter.
Overall, pleased with the site, but in my visits to South Devon feel the area is missing something that South Hams has.

Our second camping trip as a family of four; 2 adults, a 3 and a half year old and a 7 month baby! Some think we're mad, but Leadstone certainly made it easy. A great site (some pitches on a slope so bear in mind when booking), quiet, good playground, showers and toilets. The facilities would be very busy during peak season. Reception and site staff very friendly (we were shown to our pitch) and small shop well stocked. The local area is very well serviced by public transport. The beach is nearby (stoney and sand), but greatly enjoyed by our kids. A must lunch stop visit is 'Gay's Creamery' (bakery) in Dawlish. The best pasties and cakes extremely well priced. All in all a great 5 nights away.

I've stayed at Leadstone a couple of times, and always found it to be a well kept site, with clean facilities and friendly staff. I particularly like their website, which has a mini-blog and list of events and activities available nearby in case you're stuck for ideas.
Dawlish Warren and Dawlish town are close by, and the walk up the hill back to the site helps to justify all those ice creams and Devon teas! The walk along the beach between Dawlish Warren and the town is a nice leisurely stroll, just be careful not to get caught out by the tide as during high tide some of the path is inaccessible. There is an alternative route over the railway bridge though, so don't worry! The site is also handy for local buses and trains, so if you fancy a day out somewhere further afield then you can leave the car behind.
The toilet and shower blocks are small, but are cleaned regularly (more than twice a day) and the washing up area is very handy. The facilities can get busy at peak times of the day, but this is to be expected. If you're in a tent, it's also useful to know that there are plugs in the ladies for hairdryers, as well as in the shower block. Leadstone also have a recycling point, so we make sure we separate out glass/tins etc.
We like Leadstone so much we're already planning our next visit!

Best campsite I have ever been on. Location is perfect for local towns and beaches. Staff were friendly and helpful. The campsite itself was just perfect, clean, quiet and the views were magnificent.
Spent three nights here and even the weather on the last night could not dampen our spirits. Loved every minute of it and will return time and time again.
If there is a better, cleaner site out there, I have not seen it yet. But this will always be our number 1 site.

We are a couple in our fifties and just gone back to camping after 25 years, we didn't know if we would still enjoy camping as we now have a static caravan so have got used to a little luxury. I can't praise the site highly enough, I read the reviews and can honestly say our experience was 100% enjoyable. Toilet, shower, dishwashing and laundry facilities very good. Site in very convenient position for entertainment but site quiet. When we stayed our fellow campers were very friendly and helpful, children and dogs were well behaved a pleasure to see enjoying their holiday. Absolutely Definitely visiting again next year.
Site staff helpful and friendly and always available.

Spent 3 nights at Leadstone (supposed to be 4 but poor weather on the 1st day) a total of 1 tent and 2 campers. Phone the site on the 1st day to confirm not arriving and on arrival the next day, the cost of the 1st night was deducted from the overall cost - thanks Leadstone.
We were shown to an area where all 3 were placed together in an EHU area with our tent being on a flat area near the facilities. Note, some areas are sloping, so we were lucky!
The facilities are very adequate with very little to complain about. All showers are unisex, but they are all individual cubicle, so no problems there. There are two toilet blocks for both male and female. The one has individual cubicles with tiny sinks (bigger one would be good) and the other has toilet cubicles with basins (again bigger would be good with more space). The water was sometimes cold in the taps, but this wasn't a problem with the showers as they were on 20p meters with Triton electric units. The washing are is good with the bowls being chained up a good idea for those who forget (and to save water). Never needed to queue for any facilities (although I do shower at 6:30 in the morning!).
This was a peak week and therefore, there were a lot of campers. However, even with the playground being close, never felt it was too busy. Unlike our previous camping experience this year, I was more than happy to sit for hours in the tent with a cuppa and paper!
The coast path goes around the site but unfortunately can't be reached directly, so the dog had plenty of walks. The walk to Dawlish Warren on the road is not too strenuous and using the step behind the Mount Pleasant makes it easier. Dawlish Warren, Dawlish and Teignmouth are lovely much less commercial than Paignton or Torquay, but still having everything you could need with Pubs, Shops and Arcades keeping everyone happy. The walk along the path between Dawlish Warren and Dawlish it excellent with the sea on one side and waving to trains on the other!
Went to Exeter for one day with the option of a family of 4 getting the train along the coast for about £12 return or driving to the Exeter Park and Ride for £5. Exeter is a large City with lots of free things to do, see leaflets in TI for circular walks of historic areas (3 different ones), or free 'Red Coat' guided walks or try the Underground Passages for a reasonable £15 (warning may get a bit muddy if you are a young teen!). However paying for entry to the Cathedral is disgusting!
Would definitely go back to Dawlish Warren again and pick Leadstone as we do not like club houses or commercial activities on sites that bring rowdiness and noise

This is a lovely site. We visited in the week of the Dawlish Carnival and so expected it to be busy. It was, but the site did not feel crowded because the plots are all clearly marked out.
The weather was pretty appalling but drainage on the site was good with no mud or puddles.
The toilets are very clean and I am sure I saw them being cleaned both very early in the morning and very late at night, as well as during the day, however there are just not enough of them. Constantly having to queue became slightly tedious.
The showers are also very clean and cost 20p, the only queues for these were at peak times and to be expected.
The washing up facilities were perfectly adequate and we did not experience any of the problems written by the earlier reviewer.
The play park is small but enjoyed by my two children who made friends and promises to meet up at the same time next year!
The reception doubles as a shop for essentials, bread, milk, ice block exchange etc, and they were always very friendly and helpful.
Dawlish Warren is a 10 minute walk away and has everything you would expect of a seaside resort, except the weather on this occasion! There is a bus stop at the site entrance so it is easy to get further afield without a car.
The main ethos of this site appears to be relaxing peace. It was lovely to be at a site where we knew we were not going to be woken by rowdy drunken revellers at unearthly times!
All in all this is a very nice and well run site. I wish they had more toilets but we will be going back and not just because of promises made by my children!

Stayed here for three nights. The pitches are good size with a slight slope.
The shower and toilet facilities are terrible. The are all in portable type buildings, you pay 20p for hot water. There is a block of six unisex showers plus two more separate unisex showers in a type of outhouse building. Eight in total services the entire site, queues start to form from 7.30am.
There is then a block of two toilets with sinks four sinks, for women and another block of five ladies toilets with sinks inside the cubicle. So basically it involves several trips to not only different cubicles but different buildings. The are not particularly clean either.
Walk 5/10 minutes down road to several pubs and Dawlish warren. You can walk along the seafront to Dawlish, takes about 20/25 minutes.
Good location (if you like Dawlish Warren), fair price, friendly owners. Good size area left free for children to play, children's play park. But would not stay again because of poor showering and toilet facilities.

We had a brilliant time camping at Leadstone.
The facilities were extremely clean and whilst I was there I never had to queue for a shower.
There was lots to do in the area with the lovely beach a short walk away and lots of nice walks along the sea front. There is a bus stop right outside the campsite and we enjoyed trips to Exeter and Torquay, bus fares aren't cheap but weekly saver tickets are available and seem to be a better option if you intend using the bus often during your stay.
I will look forward to returning to this site!
