Booked a last minute 3 night stay here for just one tent. We were given a great pitch, level and not too hard/ soft. The shop is basically a shed with a fridge / freezer, and yet it has everything you would expect. Milk, OJ, Bread and Bacon. Fantastic. The location is brilliant, a nice walk from Dawlish Warren and a little more adventurous walk from Dawlish itself. However do take a bus / taxi from Dawlish Warren Station, as there is a large hill between you and the site. Didn't have a problem with the showers, nor the toilets, but I do agree that the location of the chemical toilet disposal does need rethinking.
Overall a great site for anyone, and at a reasonable price too.

We recently stayed here for 3 nights, the campsite is good with excellent facilities, shower blocks, toilets etc. I thought the seperate cubicles were good, with toilet, sink and mirror. The site was clean and tidy. The only downside to our stay at leadstone was that we were woken up around 7am by children playing outside our tent, I know it is a family orientated site but we didn't expect to be disturbed that early in the morning, even my 8 year old daughter didn't get up and make a noise at that time of the morning. Other than that, overall, it is a good campsite.

We have just returned from 10 nights at this campsite & would love to go again BUT there are a few issues that would need to be addressed first: There is only one field that is flat, the rest are sloping, which proved quite problematic for our trailer tent. To be fair the site is advertised as 'rolling grassland' so be aware. My major gripe is that the facilities are not adequate to cater for the number of people staying there at peak times - there are only 6 ladies toilets, of which 4 contain sinks so the occupants take longer getting washed etc. I have never had to queue for the loo at 10pm before! Also, the washing up sinks are sited right next to the chemical toilet disposal which does not make for a pleasant washing up experience if someone is emptying their loo! The dog policy needs reviewing too, as I had to complain about 2 separate 'piles' of dog poo which I found near to our unit. I was told that because we hadn't seen the dog concerned there was little that could be done, however, there appears to be no enforcement of the dog walking rules. This is a pity, as I am a dog lover but don't want my campsite fouled where my barefoot children play. Another major niggle is the water system. Every sink has a sign saying that at certain times of the day the water can be very hot, but what it doesn't say is that in the morning & evening, when people generally shower or wash up, you won't get any hot water at all! At the other end of the spectrum, I tried to shower & wash the hair of my two young daughters. After duly depositing my 20p in the shower I was met with scalding water which I could not cool no matter what I did. When I spoke to the staff about this I was told that it was caused by the water authority not being able to cope with the demands of 20,000 visitors to the area in summer, compared to the 1,000 occupants in winter. I was also told that it was rare to find a campsite where the water was too hot! Too hot or too cold it doesn't matter as the result is the same, no adequate shower for no good reason. If tourism is the bread & butter of the locality then this should be addressed. On the plus side, the staff were always pleasant & helpful. We loved the high hedges sectioning off the various areas & giving a sense of a much cosier site. The location is great - 10 mins walk from the beach. Just under the bridge we found Cindy's takeaway which does great chips & salad bowls at very reasonable prices. Much nicer than the beachside food & cheaper too. For a great carvery, try the Wellcome Inn which is 5 minutes walk from the site & which is family friendly too. The food is plentiful & very good. The beach itself is excellent, with lifeguard supervision for safety. We had scorching weather for 7 days & loved the surrounding area, with everything being close to hand including lots of car boot sales in adjacent fields.

Cheap, but basic site, perfect for a bit of peace and quiet! Is within walking distance of pubs and shops and of course the beach! Extremely cheap as it is a no frills site! The staff are friendly and helpful! Basically if you don't need the hassle of swimming pools and on site entertainment then Leadstone is perfect! Toilet blocks are well kept and 20p for a shower is reasonable!

This site is a must for anyone wanting a peaceful campsite. The no noise after 11pm was adhered to by everyone on the site. The toilets and showers were kept spotless at all times. The pitches were large so there was no feeling of overcrowding. Just down the road is The Mount Pleasant Pub. Food is nice and reasonably priced. Will also allow dogs in the whole pub, so great if you want a meal and don't want to sit outside. Dawlish Warren has the usual shops and arcades of a typical seaside resort, but a short walk up the beach will bring you to lovely beaches. Dawlish also had a nice beach and a walk along the river in the evening is nice.

This site is fantastic! The site owners were really helpful and friendly! The showers were excellent! We had to leave the site a day earlier, so Andrew (The park warden) gave us a nights credit to use again in the future! Needless to say I will definitely be going back soon!

We found the staff very friendly and the site was in a superb position. The toilet/shower blocks were clean and tidy, although we felt they could have used a few more showers as ques did form. The site itself is only a short walk from the first pub and not far from the warren down a fairly steep hill, which could be a problem for the disabled. That said this is a fantastic area which we will re-visit. This is a lovely site for those of us who like a quiet, family, unspoilt holiday.

Lovely site. Site was full, but didn't feel overcrowded. Run by a very friendly family. We were on a sloping tent field, but did not cause us any problems. Facilities were good. Only problem was that the toilet cubicles were also the washrooms, so you sometimes had a long wait for the loo if you timed it wrong. There are a couple of seperate toilets and showers also, so this was not a major hassle. Would definitely go again.

Good site, very clean & tidy. Toilet, showers very good. Ideal location. Agree with comments about the water - stick to bottled. The park is good but lighting is poor hence encouraging kids to mass round toilet blocks. Overall really good. Would go back. Shaldon ness beach is good as is Teignmouth & Dawlish warren has something for everyone.

This is a gem of a site,we enjoyed 7 great nights. Site is very clean with large pitches to easily accommodate all belongings. Only downside is could do with more washing facilities as only 5 sinks for whole campsite. And 7-8 showers but all kept spotless.
Dawlish warren is about a 10min walk away with enough to keepkids happy all day without being over the top, would reccommend ( the mount pleasent inn) as food is stunning and very child friendly with outstanding views of the Warren beaches.
Highlight of week was wathching the Red Arrows at Dawlish on red rock = this free airshow is part of the Dawlish carnival week which runs from 13 to 20th of Aug - I think well worth a day out. will be back next year and many more I hope.
