Stayed here with 3 tents and asked to be put together. We had 3 pitches along the hedge that runs adjacent to the play park, which was very handy for the younger members of our troop!
Facilities were clean and well kept. The main refuse collection area is away from any campers. Hot water at all times in both the showers and washing areas.
We cannot fault the site, it was a good place to stay and a good base from where to explore the area. We really enjoyed the coastal walk into Dawlish along the sea front next to the railway lines.
Apart from the lousy British weather we really enjoyed our stay here.

I have just returned from this site. I took my 11yr old son, his friend and the family dog. It catered for all our needs.
On arrival we were shown to our pitch, which was on a very slightly sloping field but nothing that caused any difficulties. The site has a traditional feel with each field being surrounded by hedges and crushed stone drive ways.
The children's' playground whilst basic was enough to entertain the boys for 5 nights and seemed to be a magnet for all children. The playground was closed at dusk and this meant the noise did not interfere with our evening.
The toilets and showers, laundrette and washing up areas were amongst the cleanest I have come across, and were in good working order and obviously fairly new. This is the first time I have used a site laundrette and I did think £3 to do a wash was steep, but as I have no comparison this could be the going rate.
We were there bank holiday weekend and there was never a problem with queues for the toilets, the showers however did get busy about half 9 in the morning but I perhaps only had to wait 5 minutes.
The site office is also a small shop just selling milk pop and bacon so will get you through breakfast time but that is about it. I did notice they also sell gas bottles.
The staff were friendly and all in all I am struggling to find anything but good things to say. I would recommend the site to anyone with young family who do not like the more commercial sites with laid on bingo nights.
Dawlish Warren is pretty much a small seaside resort catering towards the families who like arcades and burgers, but as this is very localised and can easily be avoided if you wish.

We stayed at Leadstone for a week's holiday in our tent, 2 adults and 2 children (4 & 7). We asked to be near the children's playground but not to close and were conveniently placed against the hedge about 100 yards away but in full view. Great start!
The field we were in, was one of 4 that were located around the facilities block, which was centrally located. The block itself was good and new and regularly cleaned. Showers were 20p but were always hot and lasted long enough for an average shower. Only had to queue once or twice for a couple of minutes.
The playground, although not big and varied, was invariably caked in children and our 2, albeit small, weren't excluded from the climbing frames etc, despite the older kids sometimes taking over!Would be nice to see the playground split into small kids and older kids though!
All in all, we thought the campsite was great and the staff excellent and really friendly. The warden was super and always chucked the kids off the playground at dusk (9. 30 ish) and the little shop at the main gate catered for the essentials.
The only downside for us, was the area. Not the campsites fault though. We've been to Devon before and know it for it's natural beauty of rolling countryside and peaceful beaches. However, Dawlish was not this. If you like your beach with amusement arcades and tattooed holidaymakers, then this is the place for you.
The campers at Leadstone were great and the usual type of camper you would expect. We assume it was the nearby holiday parks that catered for those people who liked the arcades etc.
Leadstone campsite was great though!

Spent 8 nights at Leadstone, in glorious sunshine which always helps!
Upon arrival was greeted and shown to our pitch – first thing we noticed was how long the grass was – apparently they keep it that long so it doesn’t get damaged by cars etc, but it was seriously long.
Pitches were all slopping in some direction but guess that’s to be expected in a hilly area, just had to work out how to pitch tent so all our heads were higher than our feet at night!
The new facilities are very nice – lots of sinks in washing up room, washing machines, dryers and irons in laundry room, unisex showers which was a good idea. Facilities were clean, my heart did go out to the poor night cleaners who were fighting a losing battle with the damp grass being walked in and out.
The park is nice and there is lots of open space for kids to run around, small little shop in reception selling the basics.
The surrounding area is lovely – Dawlish Warren and Dawlish beaches both nice, we got a bus from outside campsite to Starcross, then got the ferry over to Exmouth for a day, then got the train back to Dawlish Warren station – kids loved their varied transport day and Exmouth was nice to visit.
We ate in the Boathouse by the beach at Dawlish Warren, this was nice pub grub type food, lovely location to have a drink and watch the sun go down.
Also stopped in the Mount Pleasant Pub on way back from beach one day (it’s quite a trek uphill with 2 body boards, buckets, spades, balls, towels etc. ) a drink half way up the hill is a good idea, and again the views are lovely.
We also visited Creeley Adventure Park for a day which the kids loved.
The campsite is nice, and the surrounding areas are lovely, but the length of the grass was odd, sounds petty but soaking wet feet / shoes / kids PJs as soon as it got dusk until mid-morning was a bit annoying, we’ve been to many “unspoilt” sites without roads and never experience grass this long, it also made ball games a bit tricky as the ball wouldn’t roll properly.
All in all a nice site and one I would recommend but maybe they could run the lawn mower around a bit more :-)

We visited Leadstone by chance as we had booked another Campsite which when we arrived, we didn't like. So we headed along the South coast in search of replacement.
We came across Leadstone and were not disappointed. We arrived and were told we could pitch anywhere we liked and decided to pitch our Outwell Wolflake 5 in the far corner of the top field.
We were delighted with the friendly staff, the pitch sizes were massive and with the beauty of a brand new toilet block which had unisex showers this suited us just fine.
Dawlish Warren is quiter than Dawlish and is a 10 minute walk to the sea. It has useful shops including a supermarket just down the road. We had a meal at the local pub which overlooked the Dawlish Warren bay (stunning views)from our table.
10/10 for this great campsite. Thanks Andy and all the staff.

We have just returned following a 3 night stay at Leadstone.
This campsite was just what we needed - somewhere with friendly owners/ wardens, plenty of space between pitches, peace and quiet, excellent facilities and within walking distance of the seafront for dog walks.
The owners are very honest about the teething problems with the showers and there are 3 wet rooms also available for use which have the advantage of much more room.
This site has a lovely feel to it.
Small play area for kids with more than enough room to run about.
Dawlish Warren is an easy walk with all the usual seaside shops and amusements. The walk through the nature reserve and on the beaches are great and a cuppa at the Red Rock cafe before braving the sea wall to Dawlish is a must.

We stayed at Leadstone on our way back from Cornwall as we were visitng friends in Dawlish. This is a lovely site, with immaculate modern facilities.
Great location close to Dawlish and Dawlish Warren, and on a regular bus route. The owners made us very welcome and were always on hand if we had any questions.
The pitch was rather exposed to the elements, and as the weather was not good we got blown about a bit, but I am sure that had the weather conditions been normal for June it would have been excellent.
All in all an excellent site and one we will use again if we are in the area.

We used Leadstone for the first time and we were reasonably pleased with the site and facilities. Leadstone promotes itself as 'uncommercialised', presumably the slant is on private rather than mass marketed 'commercial giants'. It is divided into separate camping areas by tall hedges, which gives it a homely feel. There is a children's play area which was a magnet for all the kids on the site.
The park does have some sloping areas, so make sure you can cope with that if you don't specify that you want a level pitch. There are plenty of hook-ups. There is a large toilet block and washroom/shaving facility, however when we were there the site was full up and this meant that it was very busy in the mornings. The separate shower block is unisex for some reason, but there was one shower facility in the men's toilet. The grass is a bit on the long side, which can be a nuisance on the feet or flipflops if it has been raining or dewy in the morning.
Leadstone is at the top of a slightly steep hill, which meant a walk down to Dawlish Warren and beach, but a walk up on the way back.
If you want a drink or meal there are plenty of choices in Dawlish Warren. There are two pubs before you get to the bottom of the hill, the Mount Pleasant Inn and the Welcome Inn. Both do meals and both have a good selection of ales. There is also Lees Bar at the foot of the hill and the Boathouse at the other end of the beach access road. The Boathouse has great views over the beach and bay.
Access to Dawlish town is by bus, on foot, or if you are already in the Warren, by coastal path. The coastal path takes up to half an hour, but be wary as it is inaccessible at high tide.
Leadstone was good value for the money, but we are used to sites with pools, restaurants, bars and 'fish and chips'. I would definitely use it again, however the only real downside is that it is only open for a limited time from June to August. It is not open before June and after August into September so consider this if you want an early or extended summer break.

Our 15th year at Leadstone. Like to spend every weekend there, in fact any time we can get off work we jump in the car and head for Leadstone. Love everything about the site.
Quiet and friendly, safe for children. So nice to meet up with friends every year as most people return year after year. That says something about the site.
Thank you for keeping Leadstone just as it is, Perfect!

Super campsite in a perfect location 15 mins walk from Dawlish and 5 mins walk from Dawlish Warren - Both of which are rail connected.
A bus stops just outside the site entrance every 20 mins.
Large tent pitches mostly flat or very gently sloping.
Toilet and shower block new for 2012 and kept very clean - only small gripe is not enough showers for amount of people - a bit of a wait in the peak times of day.
Staff/owners very friendly and welcoming.
5 mins walk to lovely pub with superb views over Dawlish Warren. Shops & restaurants again within 5 mins walk.
A real gem of a site - will definitely be back again.
