Thank you for your comments in person and on this forum. To accommodate the Queen’s Jubilee and Dawlish Air Show we opened for the first time ever at Whitsun. This coincided with the completion of our new and unique facility block. Obviously we would have preferred some real time testing on opening day with a few visitors but “Murphy’s Law” prevailed and we soon had a “full house” on the Saturday and Sunday.
The new block coped well but some teething troubles were expected and issues were exposed - all are in hand (particularly the shower floors) and should be resolved within a few weeks. A mop and bucket has been installed in each wet room – toilet brushes are on order and hooks have been placed near the hair drier.
With the pending arrival of the new block we took the opportunity to upgrade the power supply to the site at a massive cost! The electric hook-ups are on many independent circuits and together with the new block required re-balancing across the three phases – it would have been a miracle to have had this correct at the start and unfortunately one circuit with a dozen campers on did suffer – the cold wet weather didn’t help as most had heaters on too. Following a site visit by our electrical contractor on Sunday morning, I did visit most, if not all, those visitors inconvenienced offering our apologies and to explain the problem advising that nothing could be done until Wednesday (after Jubilee Day) when our electrical contractor could obtain the necessary gear to make the further required update. Believe me, we did everything within our power (excuse the pun!) to keep everyone powered up in what were extremely challenging conditions!
On the Wednesday before we opened the weekend forecast was terrible so we decided to keep the grass at a minimum of 4 -5 inches (usually 2-3 inches) as this helps protect the ground in heavy rain – we are a traditional campsite and unlike a holiday park we are virtually road free here and rely on nature to look after our driveways in the fields! We have a sandy subsoil so drainage is excellent, however keeping vehicle movements to a minimum in bad weather always helps and is something we appeal for when bad weather strikes.
The showers, as regulars will know are 20p for 5 minutes – this helps keep any queue that may form at peak times to a minimum.
Sarah and I look forward to seeing you this summer and are always pleased to hear any comments or address any issues on a face to face basis – just call in at Reception for a chat, anytime.
Andrew and Sarah

Very attractive site with beautiful views all round. Warm and friendly staff also very helpful.
Play area was brilliant and gave our 2 boys plenty of time to mix with the other children staying.
The brand new toilet and shower facilities look amazing. However due to the amount of people staying that weekend the facilities did get very grubby. Maybe a toilet brush in each cubical and a polite notice to clean up your indiscretions after would be a good idea. I have seen this at another site and it worked. Also as there is a collection of water that builds up in the showers (which I know is being investigated) it would be nice to be able to hang your wash stuff up whilst drying your hair.
It is a short walk to Dawlish Warren which has plenty to entertain everyone. I would also recommend taking the ferry from Starcross to Exmouth as it saves a lot of driving and the views are gorgeous.
We had a very pleasant stay and will return, thank you

Just returned from 3 nights at Leadstone and I am fairly happy with the stay. Location is good, just a short walk to the nearest pub (Mount Pleasant) which served good food and drink. A little bit further down the hill is the Dawlish Warren beach which has arcades, gift shops, hot food etc. There is a new Sainsburys which is a 5 minute drive and also has a petrol station.
Our pitch was a good size and had electric hookup, although this tripped every night at least 4 times and we were only running a light. All the pitches are on a slight slope and the grass was very long resulting in wet feet after going to the toilet if it had rained.
The shower block is brand new this season and is kept clean, however there is less than 10 showers for the whole site which results in queuing for a shower every morning. A decent shower will cost you 40p. Also in the shower block is a dish washing room (free to use) and a laundry room which had washing machines, tumble dryers and irons/ironing boards.

Leadstone is such a relaxing site with friendly and helpful owners that we have now booked a season pitch. We don't want to go anywhere else!
The site and facilities are kept lovely and it is in a great location within walking distance of the beach, shops and entertainment. There are bus stops just by the entrance making it easy to get to other local towns.
There is a new sainsburys store within walking distance and asda will deliver to the site too.
We hope to visiting Leadstone for many years to come!

What a terrific my family had here!
Nice family run site especially good for family with
Young children. If you are I would ask to be put in the field with the play park as having a 5 yr old he was able to go play by himself in the park for the first time ever! and you can see the park from all over this field. If you havent got any kids I would ask not to be in this field.
Yes the pitches are sloping but not to badly, our neighbours did tell us when they booked and they asked for a non sloping pitch they did say yes we will iron it for you, hmmm, No need for this comment I think. When I booked I asked if they where even and got told yes, now they weren't bad at all but they weren't lvl.
The toilets where aways clean and only a little busy at rush times, I hope they are building more capacity in the new block for next yr to.
Over all we will be going back sometime.
One last personal thing I would like to post if the Ukcampsite don't mind please, To our neighbour and friends who have also reviewed here I have lost your email! if you still have mine please get in touch.

Had a very good deal staying here as out of season prices. I turned up at lunchtime and couldn't find the warden so just pitched up, the reception/ shop is open 1 hr in the morning and 1 hr in the evening to swap the ice packs, plus basics like milk/eggs.
I stayed in the field with the kids park so my son loved being able to run off on his own, everyone seemed friendly and no noise at night.
The toilet/shower block is quite small for the amount of pitches but it's kept clean and the washing/ironing area is good although I didn't actually use it.
Plenty to do in the area, being able to walk to the beach is good and the shops aren't too expensive. Everything is easy to find but the sat nav got lost in the country lanes so I had to use my map. The owners are friendly and helpful.
I would definitely come here again

This remains my favourite site. It's quiet, and family friendly, a short walk to the beach, and walkable to Dawlish down the coast (at low tide anyway!)
Great to see the site have responded to earlier comments, by much better blocking off of chemical toilet disposal and dish washing area. Also amending the window opening in the Gents toilets.
However, largely academic now, as next year there is to be a brand new building, housing everything contained in the current mix & rag-bag of assorted buildings. This can only make a great site better!
Of course, the site isn't for everyone. If you are looking for clubs, swimming pools & rowdy groups, you wont find them here, but for a quiet family site, it can't be bettered.

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was very pleasant, we only had a small 2 man tent and out pitch was more than enough.
The facilities were good and the staff were friendly and helpful. It is very close to the beach and only a short walk away from Dawlish.
There is a train station nearby and a lovely seaside walk to nearby villages. There is also a well equipped supermarket nearby.
We had a very enjoyable stay and although we do not plan on returning to the area, we are very glad that we chose this campsite to stay at.

What a lovely site!
A very family friendly campsite (our boys were off making new friends as soon as we opened the car doors, and we hardly saw them when we were there, they were too busy in the play area). Great to find a site that doesn't have 'entertainment', arcades etc.
The campsite is very clean and tidy, well maintained. Pitches are a good size, but it's worth asking for a flat pitch although none are on much of a slope. The facilities are basic but cleaned regularly, some queues for showers/loos at peak times though we personally didn't have much trouble. 20p per shower gives a good length of time.
10 minute walk to Dawlish Warren and the walk back up isn't bad at all, bit of a hill but easily achievable. Walking the sea wall to Dawlish is lovely too. Be warned - the bus from Dawlish back to the campsite is really expensive, we paid less for the 4 of us to go to Teignmouth and back on the train!
All in all for a first family camping holiday it was great, and we'd definitely go back.

Tent pitches were all very well laid out and clearly marked. Enough space to park your car next to your tent too. Slightly sloped pitch (which massively helped with one day of rain!) with very good drainage. Large pitch, very helpful staff who showed us to our pitch.
The staff patrolled at night with strict noise control after 11pm which was wonderful. Any noise afterwards was nipped in the bud.
For a few days away with my partner it was wonderful. The site seemed very family friendly. Everything is within close walking distance however at certain times of the day there can be slight queues (5-10mins) for showers and sometimes toilets but nothing a little planning cant sort!
Washing up facilities, showers and toilet areas were all very clean and well maintained.
We were sorry to go home! Fantastic relaxing break! We would definitely return here
