A great 'back to basics' extremely well-kept and well-run site. The showers and loos were clean and tidy. The laundrette was extremely handy and very reasonably priced and our twin 2-year old boys fell in love with the play area - especially the rocker and the tractor. We only stayed for a couple of days due to other commitments and the weather wasn't kind to us but we did manage to get down to the sea between the showers. It was great to find an such an unspoilt beach where our dog could run and jump and splash about while the boys were making sandcastles and getting their first taste of seaweed. The walk back up the hill with two pushchairs was extremely good exercise for the old leg muscles but well worth the effort. We can't stand commercialised sites with clubhouses, loud music and slot machines so for us this site was a real 'find' and we'll be back later for a longer stay.

This is an absolute gem of a site. We went there as part of a weekend organised by the SBMCC and were pleasantly surprised.
The site has basic toilets and shower blocks but they are kept very clean, its the first time I have seen cleaners working at nearly midnight! The pitches were quite level and well sheltered by the trees and tall hedges surrounding the site.
The site was very quiet at night as there was no club or bar, but there were a few groups sat together having a quiet drink (including ours) which just seemed to add to the friendliness of the site.
The bus service was very good with buses every 20 mins. Dawlish Warren is a 10 minute walk from the site gate. We had meals in most of the pubs in Dawlish Warren and they were all a good standard. The Mount Pleasant Inn had a fantastic view across the Warren.
We are already booked in for next year, the site is that good!

Great site! Visited twice this year, and have booked main holiday here for 2009! Pitches are marked, but could do with being a bit more clearly marked. Can't say I found it cramped on the pitch with next tent, but at busy times (we were here August bank holiday weekend, and site was full) water was a problem. Always plenty, but hot water was cold-even when you had paid 20p for a shower! Try to avoid peak times of the day! The biggest problem is that the chemical toilet emptying is right next to the dish washing area! Everyone washing up had to leave their dishes and vacate for a bit every time someone emptied their toilet! However, overall a great site! Andrew works hard patrolling site at night to make sure there is no noise. Although small and basic our children loved the playground. Great that it is walkable to the beach, but it is a hill back up, but the bus runs every 20 mins! A lovely traffic-free walk along the sea wall from Dawlish Warren to Dawlish (1 mile)get a pastie and take-away cream tea from Gayes, then get the bus back-only 10p more than up the hill from Dawlish Warren! Love the site, but they really do need to move the toilet emptying point!

Hi all, All I can say is what great site, norm English summer but had great time good timing for the air show and we had sun! got a bit of a tan what a week.
And now the site well good lay out in some place’s booked late so got middle of the field near the play ground not to bad but had 2 tents with teens and parents so not happy that my car got hit a lot of the time with toys(did tell them and ok about it). Toilets in good order and clean most of the time (due to the mud) The kids seemed to like the playground always full (mine too old and girls say no more). Dawlish what a lovely place 1st came 20 years ago so good to have come back and will come again soon.
P.S we would like to thank all the staff at Leadstones and the people of Dawlish for a great weeks holiday.

A lovely site, rained for the whole week we were there but the toilets and showers were regularly cleaned to ensure mud being walked in wasn't too much of a problem. There's a small shop on site selling the basics: milk, eggs, butter etc.
Situated between Dawlish and Dawlish Warren, was nice to walk down to the beach in Dawlish Warren in the evening but there is a big hill that you have to contend with on your return to the site, didn't bother me as I walk quite a bit anyway but could be challenging for others. There were some lovely pubs nearby serving good food.
I would recommend the site to all.

We found the campsite on the website and it looked idyllic but it was very cramped indeed. The tents are packed in so close to each other that the guy ropes of neighbouring tents actually touch each other in some cases - the only time I have ever seen tents so closely packed together was at Glastonbury Festival. The toilets were good and it had a laundry room and small child's play area which were good points, but I think that the site needs to review its policy on how many tents they cram in because it otherwise just looks like they are only interested in making as much money as possible. I wouldn't recommend this site to anyone who wants space to relax without hearing everything in the neighbouring tents and having to whisper private conversations.

This was our first Camping experience, and despite the usual British weather, had a great time. Like advertised, it is an un-commercialised campsite, with just the basics and that is all that is required. The showers are clean (20P required) and so were the toilets. They did get a little bit dirty towards the end of the day, but that was due to the mud being trampled around. The kids play ground is very basic, 2 swings, an old tractor, a small rocker for the younger children and a couple of small climbing frames, but this was cleaned of litter every day. The staff was very friendly, and if you asked for assistance, they were more than willing to help. The only down side we had was due to the weather. As it rained the majority of the time from Saturday to Wednesday, the grass 'road' had a slight incline from our field and this become very slippery and hard to get up. However Andrew and the guys tried to overcome this, by placing stones down to try and give the vehicles more grip. Some of the tent pitches were very exposed to the elements, but on the whole a great site. Looking forward to using them again in the near future.

We have just returned from a week at Leadstone. The site is really clean and the facilities are excellent. The personal service you get from the staff is excellent. Special thanks go to Andrew and Vic who helped with our poorly dog whilst there. The site is slightly on the slope but our pitch was of good size. The only draw back is the noise of children till quite late at night. All in all great site personally recommend.

What a fantastic camp site.
Andrew the owner was extraordinarily helpful during our stay.
The site is a traditional campsite. It is not over commercialised holiday camp fare, nor is it a field with a portacabin.
The pitches were all very well laid out, the toilets, showers etc. Were all immaculately clean. Overall we were very impressed with the site.
In the surrounding area, there are a number of pubs that let in dogs, the beach at Dawlish Warren is superb, and the shops in Dawlish itself are adequate so you would not need to go any further.
The site has a playground that kids seemed to enjoy (we don't have our own!) a small shop (Bacon, Sausages, Milk, Gas and thats about it!)It also has electrical hookups, although again we did not use them.
