Ideal location for Dawlish Warren which is a 20 minute walk downhill. And from there you can walk along the sea wall to Dawlish in about 30 to 40 mins. We did this and got the train back. £2. 50 per person and takes less than 5 minutes. Good choice to eat at the local pub/restaurant, The Mount Pleasant, on the way down to Dawlish Warren. Dog friendly area, families welcome, good choice of food with lovely views across the bay. Ate here both nights.
The site is well laid out with large pitches with electric hook up and water. Not all pitches are level. All grass. Quieter pitches are located away from the children's play area. Good facilities with separate mens and ladies toilet blocks. Each has several toilets and one unit containing a shower, sink and toilet. There is a separate unisex shower block. Showers are 20p but there is plenty of time allocated for a shower and hairwash. Would be nice to have maybe one or two privacy cubicles for washing.
Dishwashing area and laundry facilities. Waste disposals. Pleasant staff and their office is open from 8. 30am until at least 6. 30pm. Would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely would recommend. This site is a little oasis.
We had a 6 berth 2 bedroom tent with EHU and once up there was plenty of space to park car at the side. Nice quiet campsite with good shower / toilet facilities. 20p for 5 min electric shower was more than enough and being electric meant no danger of running out of hot water!
There is a reception on site selling the basics ( little bit dear but its only really there for emergencies) There's a Sainsbury's within 5 min drive with a petrol station which is handy. Easy walking distance to Dawlish Warren, although it is up hill on the way back and an ideal base for visiting the surrounding areas.
It's a dog friendly site and most of the pubs ( and Powderham Castle) are dog friendly too. Pitches are level and marked out and the staff on hand personally take you to your pitch.
Will definitely be going again next year

Been to Leadstone a few times and never disappointed. Staff are always helpful and available. The facilities are always clean and well kept. Took my two kids (8 and 11) and some family and they all really loved it. The play area, though basic, kept the kids busy all day. Really easy 10 min walk into Dawlish Warren or 20 min walk to Dawlish. Pitch was really wet when arrived as it had been raining loads the previous few days but drained and dried in a few hours. Sign of a good camping field :). Will definitely be back. Just maybe a bigger shop could be helpful although there is a farm shop 5 mins walk away.

We stayed at Leadstone Camping over the August Bank holiday week. The campsite is well laid out and the separate fields make it seem smaller and less busy which is nice.
The facilities were modern and good but not very clean. Both the toilets and showers were messy and not only at peak wash times. I don't think they were cleaned very often.
Other than that it was a nice stay. It's about a 20min walk with children to the Dawlish warren. Then about another 10mins to get to a nice bit of beach to swim and play on.
Dawlish itself is also not a very long walk away.

We chose Leadstone for it's location and were not disappointed there as it really is a short walk to the beach. Facilities were very good, well organised and regularly monitored.
The staff at reception were friendly and helpful and the book loans were a nice touch.
A few niggles though - we were a bit disappointed that we couldn't use our own ice packs but we could understand why and the photos were clearly taken in the low season as when full, the site is really quite noisy and a bit claustrophobic. Also, we couldn't chose our own pitch and there are signs everywhere with warnings about keeping children under control - suggesting that this is a problem.
Overall, Leadstone is a good site and is very well organised. For us, however, it was too regimented and if, like us, you prefer somewhere relatively quiet (we like a bit of a buzz but not radio and music all day) with a sense of space between you and your neighbour - then this isn't the site for you.
However, if you just want somewhere with good facilities, an area for the children to play and a good proximity to the beach then Leadstone is it!

This was my first visit to this lovely site, and there's not really anything you can complain about here, even if you try really hard.
The site and facilities are spotless, the owners are friendly, and things like the showers and ice packs are all very reasonably priced.
Some of the pitches on some of the fields are on a bit of a slope, so check with the owner if this is important to you.
Just a few tips:
The farm shop next door is open every day from 9 am to 6 pm, and serves lovely breakfasts.
If you want to charge a mobile, use a (cheap) external battery and charge it up at the on site launderette overnight (locked 10 pm to 8 am). You can get a decent one for under a tenner. Suggested by the owner, so they are happy for you to do this.
The bus no. 22 goes from outside the site at 10 past the hour to Dawlish, Teignmouth, Shaldon and Torquay. From Torquay get the 12 for onward connections to Paignton and Brixham. For those who have to pay, get a Torbay Dayrider on the bus; excellent value at £4. 90.
The new nearby Sainsbury's is a godsend, with both an ATM and petrol station.
Nearest good pub grub is at the Mount Pleasant (1/2 mile), or for seafood try the Anchor, Cockwood (2 miles) - turn right out of the site for both. The latter also sells very good real ales.

We stayed here at the end of August this year. On the whole we had a great stay, although the weather could have been kinder!
The toilet block was ok. I felt at such a busy time of year and especially when it's wet weather, the floors should be cleaned more regularly. Also during the busy periods, the toilets should be cleaned more than once a day.
Paying for the showers is wrong in my opinion, even if it is only 20p per shower. This should be included in the pitch price. I also think that there should be a freezer so campers can freeze their own ice packs. The laundry facilities were fab, although overpriced- £3 a wash and £2 per tumble dry, which in wet weather works out very expensive! The pitches are also on the small side.
However, all the above taken into consideration, I would return and the plus points included the children's playground and the pizza man.

Before we booked, I phoned to request a flat pitch. On arrival this is what we got plus it was well sheltered from the wind. Its a nice site with a good camping atmosphere. It was full one night and we did not have to long a wait for the showers as previous comments pointed out. Just a couple of small moans. The lighting is dire, surely a few lights here and there would be a help. The wi-fi price is much to dear, and with what the campsite income per night is, they could be a bit more realistic.

Site is in a nice location between Dawlish and Dawlish Warren. Pitches are big and you can pitch anyway round as long as you leave a 20 foot gap between the next unit. However there is a lot of long stayers on the site and they all like to mark their pitches out with windbreakers which gives it the appearance of a refugee camp, what makes it worse is that the grass can't be mowed right up to them on the outside, and inside them because of satellite dishes and rotary lines inside the windbreakers. The facilities are o k but nine showers isn't many for a 160 pitches especially as it takes campers. And lastly this isn't the sites fault but over bank holiday weekend most people didn't mop out the showers after using them, some left skid marks in the toilets even though there was a toilet brush in every cubicle, and someone was even letting their dog mess on the site and not picking it up.

What a find !- this site is awesome (as my son put it) (my words) amazing and unspoilt, catered for our every need.
Family of 4, week stay in glorious weather, children 5 and 12 yrs, flat sheltered pitch (243) by the far hedge in field 2.
Site - facilities great, flex on your shower times and miss the rush, 20p shower keeps the q down. Main field and playground for kids, came back when hungry. Small shop great for milk etc.
Out and about Dawlish Warren, Dawlish, catch the bus save you legs, regular as clockwork.
Great fayre for the kids on way to beach, blue flag beach great.
Farm shop down the road worth a visit for BBQ meat, MUSHROOMS, coffee, breakfast, choice is yours, friendly and quality produce.
Great, great site, free pitch of gazebo welcome, shade for the kids - or shower (not that this happened to us) - will be back for sure.
Many thanks, you have a wonderful site, stay just as you are.
