Embarking on our first full 7 night camping trip with 2 young daughters aged 4 and 7, it was vital that the site was good. We stayed on the leisure field on the adjacent pitch to our friend's trailer tent.
From the moment of arrival, we were made very welcome, shown to our pitch and allowed to set up prior to formally booking in. The electric hook-up was as useful as ever.
The field itself was nicely landscaped offering a great view of Dartmoor as well as over the well kept play park, where we could keep an eye over the children whilst letting them play.
Aside from the lack of toilet directly in the field, the site was well designed, with the park away from the main residential area and the toilet/shower area within it.
The shower facilities were fantastic and always clean with a couple even having baby baths. We were able to have a family shower due to the exceptional facilities available.
Aside from the major factors such as location & cleanliness and the wonderful horticultural and conservation aspects, the following smaller details made sure that Ross Park was a great place to stay.
The free use of the freezer for ice packs, the free hire of ping pong bats and balls, the recycling facilities, the local produce available, the depth of reference books relating to the local area (including impressive amount of walking /cycling guides) and the help from reception staff to assist with any queries on the information.
Away from the site we were able to get to most of our destinations in or around 30 minutes. We were lucky with the weather so headed for the beaches most days. Within a mile of the site is a garden centre with a very good farm type shop which was useful throughout. Alternatively, Newton Abbot has 3 large supermarkets.
We did not eat at the site, but would have like to have attended the BBQ and the food looked to be reasonably priced. I did manage a swift pint or 2 in the bar, including a drop of the local brew which was nice.
The only negative would have been the lack of toilet near the field. We had planned around this by buying a portable toilet and having space in our tent for it. To be fair, as it is not a massive site, the toilets were not too far away, but not near enough for a 4 year old!
However, aside from the above point, we will have fond memories of this very well run caravan and camp-site, particularly seeing our daughter and our friend's son ride their bikes without stabilisers for the first time.

What a brilliant site! Ross Park is a real credit to its owners.
Owners and staff are friendly, and the site is constantly being maintained to keep everything at a very high standard.
Floral displays are in abundance, and most of the pitches are separated by shrub boarders and hedges, providing a lot of privacy and giving a very spacious feel to the site. We stayed on a fully-serviced, hard-standing pitch which provided us with more than enough room for our caravan, porch awning, car, and lounging outdoors.
The toilet and shower facilities are the best we have come across. There are separate toilet and shower blocks, but also amazing self-contained wet rooms which have a large shower area at one end (you control the pressure and temperature - no hideous push-button showers which need pressing every 5 seconds here!), a toilet, sink, stool, table, etc – everything you need to get ready in complete privacy, and without all your gear getting wet!
Dog owners are well catered for at Ross Park – dogs receive a doggy treat on arrival (nice touch), there’s a dedicated dog-walking area, a dog shower, and dogs are permitted in the large conservatory which is attached to the bar.
There’s a good undercover play area, with table tennis, skittles and a games room, and there’s also large playing fields and a children’s park (although we didn’t use the latter as our “child” is a teenager).
There’s a handy little shop at reception, where you can order your daily newspaper.
The site is conveniently located for visiting many of the renowned holiday resorts. Dog-friendly beaches are in short supply in the area, but you can get a useful map from reception showing where dogs are allowed and detailing the facilities available (ie, parking, café, toilets, etc). Babbacombe was a nice, small, dog-friendly beach (the road down to the car park is steep and narrow). There's a cafe, toilets and pub, and you can walk round to the next beach. We even got to meet a visiting seal which wanted feeding by the guys who were fishing on the jetty, so that was a lovely end to our day.
We only wish this site was closer to home so that we could visit again.

Had a great holiday at this lovely family run site.
The site is maintained to an exceptionally high standard. Based on reviews and the fact that Ross Park was the AA overall winner of the 2012 campsite of the year we had high expectations, but even these were exceeded! The site has a real WOW factor. Our van was unhitched & pitched/levelled within less than 10 minutes of driving through the site entrance, pitches are very generous with plenty of room for the van, car, full size awning & space to sit outside.
The whole site is immaculate and constantly being maintained, the attention to detail, thought and effort that is put into maintaining this site is superb.
We made good use of the volleyball pitch & table tennis, there is a nice bar & conservatory, plenty of space for children to play & separate secure dog walking areas.
Other reviews have already explained what else makes this site so good, all I can add is if you are looking to visit this area of Devon you should consider this site.
For us it was conveniently located close enough to visit the various resorts/beaches, but not in an actual resort itself where the traffic can get very busy to get in or out of, so you have the option of a shortish but sometimes slow drive to the beaches unless you are brave & use the backroads and you are also within 30 minutes of the edge of Dartmoor.
Places we visited & would recommend are;-
Coasteering with adelongoutdoors at Anstey's Cove excellent half day activity with a superb & friendly service from Charlie.
Anstey's Cove (free parking, access to beach is about 100m down a steep track) is also a good place to visit if you are looking for a 'beach'(rocky & small) where dogs are permitted, it has a small promenade where you sunbath from, a cafe, toilets, & you can hire sea kayaks. When the tide is out you can walk/paddle across some rocks to the next cove which does have a good sized & secluded sandy beach, this is the only way to access this beach is via a paddle, or over the cliffs by some very steep looking paths.
Paddleboarding at Decoy Park Newton Abbot.
Trago Mills for shopping/children's rides - the karts are brilliant for the kids.
Enjoyed several walks in Dartmoor including Avon Dam from Cross Furze nice stream to picnic/paddle halfway, Lustleigh Cleave from Hamerslake with good cheap pub grub at Kestor Inn halfway and Teign Gorge (various places to start from) with lunch at The Drewe Arms Drewsteignton (superb pub & food, well worth the drive for the meal alone)
Spitchwick Common is also a lovely place to picnic & swim by the River Dart.
There is loads to do in the area and we are planning to return next summer.

Ross Park is the best Caravan Site, Mark & Helen were very friendly and helpful on arrival Mark parked our Caravan for us and after a long drive this was just fantastic.
The site is clean and very well kept with lots of green open spaces and a large dog walking area, just perfect
The showers are spotless 10/10. Under floor heating, so warm.
What more can I say, a lovely bar area, food and the kids just loved the Bingo evening (+ we won)
A perfect site with a lovely family running it, we can't wait to return

We have been to some really wonderful sites, but we have now visited for the 2nd time one site that just stands out as being the best of the best. We were welcomed and escorted to our pitch and our hosts even offered to pop the caravan on site for us.
Settled in, with Charlie (our springer spaniel) enjoying his complementary bone, we quickly felt right at home. We have never been to a site before where the dogs facilities match the standard of yours!
Charlie had regular baths in the doggie shower after a run around the dog field. The facilities at this site are exceptionally clean and are to the highest standard. See you again soon

Only stopped here for 4 nights but we were very impressed with the site and multiplicity of facilities offered for the price. Probably the best kept site we have visited in UK and the best individual shower/toilet rooms we have seen. The site is a credit to it's owners.
Excellent facilities for dogs (at no additional charge) and brilliant conservation policies add to the enjoyment of staying at Ross Park.
Although the restaurant wasn't open during our stay I have little doubt that the quality of the fayre on offer would have equalled the standard of the rest of the park.
The conservatory is also a very comfortable and relaxing place to spend time.
Access is easy off the main Newton Abbot/Totnes A road. On arrival Mark sited our van and assisted in taking it off pitch on our departure.
The park is well positioned close to Torbay with its numerous facilities, close also to Dartmoor.
Great customer service in reception & shop too. We would certainly return to Ross Park if returning to South Devon. It's a shame they can't all be this good.

Well what can I say about this campsite other than it is fantastic.
Upon arrival we were asked if we wanted to pitch our caravan ourselves or whether we wanted them to do it, (my advise would be to get them to do it as it takes them a few minutes to do this).
The facilities are kept very clean and tidy at all times and we never had to wait to use the showers. The site is well presented and kept clean and tidy at all times and the staff are also very helpful and polite.
There is a small shop on site which sells the basics but a little down the road is the Spar shop and petrol station. There is a games room to keep the kids occupied as well as the adults.
The restaurant on site with small bar is good and many people we spoke to said the food was nice, (we never ate there mind you). Also this is the only campsite that I have been to that really does cater for people with dogs.
The dog walk is a fairly large field to walk your dog in and just outside this area is the dog wash with warm water and a hair dryer.
It is very well located for visiting the south of Devon from Dawlish right down to Plymouth. There are supermarkets located in Totnes and Newton Abbot which are both within easy reach. And both have numerous local shops which are well worth a visit just to be nosey. Also just outside of Newton Abbot there is a place called Trago Mills which is a huge discount retailer which you can spend a lot of time there just looking around.
For places to eat out at there are plenty near by to the site, (all within a ten min drive). We ate out at the PIG & WHISTLE which is towards Totnes. Also Court Farm Inn in Abbotskerswell which is towards Newton Abbot. There is the Two Mile Oak but I would suggest that you call to reserve a table as it gets busy. In the village of Ipplepen is the Wellington Pub which serves real ale from casks.
All in all I would recommend this place very highly and will definitely be visiting again.

Booked Ross Park on recommendation from fellow members on UKCS, was not disappointed!
Arrived slightly earlier than the 12pm arrival time and was shown to the leisure field by Helen. Our son (2) had a lovely time playing on the park whilst we waited for our pitch to be ready.
Mark arrived and hooked up our caravan, he had it sorted by the time we drove round! Amazing service, which we've never received anywhere else, fantastic! Had a wander around site, brilliant facilities.
We had a hardstanding pitch with our own water supply, can't fault it, slightly on an incline so some issues with getting the awning to 'tighten' up rather than be baggy but got there eventually.
On day two we realised we had left both the TV remote and the Freeview Box remote at home so couldn't use the TV. Not really an issue but nice to have the option when we couldn't go anywhere on a night due to wanting little one in bed and OH doesn't read.
Asked Mark if we could receive a package so that my brother could send down the remotes, and he said it would be fine, but they weren't needed as Mark then loaned us a TV and Freeview box for our whole stay!
Facilities were fantastic, very clean, shop was very well priced, park was immaculate, everyone was incredibly friendly, service was second to none, we couldn't have asked for more!
Would recommend this site ten times over, it's amazing. So pleased I was recommended by other UKCS members!

We stayed here for a couple of weeks to visit family in the area, although we normally prefer adults only sites the location was too good to pass up.
We were pleasantly surprised, pitches were excellent, nicely spaced and sections broken up with trees and hedges, very flat and the friendly staff even towed our van from reception onto the pitch with a small tractor. Excellent service!
Whilst it was quite a busy site the facilities were rarely queued for and were always clean and very roomy.
At peak season it was quite noisy but never over the top and we were impressed with the facilities and amenities. The site was run by staff who took care to ensure your stay was a pleasant one and were always friendly.
Very pleasantly surprised with this site, will definitely return but perhaps out of season next time.

We stayed here for an enjoyable 10 day break in our Pennine folding camper. Facilities are good and regularly cleaned. This site is very dog friendly making life a lot easier when you holiday with a dog. Mark, Helen & team work hard to maintain the site. Our hard standing Pitch was well kept, reasonable size for camper & awning, with dividing hedges creating privacy.
Places we enjoyed:-
Bantham beach for nice sands & good surfing.
Newton Abbot for shopping, big Asda, takeaways.
Dartmouth, Paignton, Exeter, Torquay.
Ansteys cove near Babbacombe
Would certainly stay at Ross Park again if we come to this area again.
