We have just returned from Ross park after our 5th visit in 10 years. The site is still probably the best that we have been to. It is absolutely immaculate and each time we return Mark and Helen have made more enhancements to the site and it just keeps getting better and better. The new amenity block is absolutely gorgeous.

Previous reviews are all absolutely correct and I would agree with all of their contents.

There is however one criticism I am going to make and it is nothing to do at all with Mark or Helen or the site itself, but unfortunately involves other Caravanners on site.

As previous reviewers have advised the site is very very 'dog friendly' and hereby lies a problem - (well to us anyway).

Our pitch was just behind the entrance gate to the fantastic 'dog walk' and fellow caravanners quite regularly would take their dogs out at anytime from - one morning it was 5. 10am ! The loud clunk and clatter of the gate would indicate the arrival - most of the time it was between 6am and 7. 30am - that's fine if they are quiet. Unfortunately most of them would meet another doggie walker and hold a full scale conversation at 'full volume' and sometimes while their dogs barks incessantly for the stick or ball to be thrown - then invariably 15 minutes or so later you would hear the clunk of the gate being shut. A little more consideration on their behalf would go a long way to alleviate this problem.

It is probably these people that then, sit outside their caravans for most of the day and for some reason think that it is quite acceptable to let their dogs yap and yap for most of that time too. !They could also be the ones that despite Helen and Mark putting free 'doggie mess' bags on various parts of the park still insist in leaving their dogs mess on the grass or where ever its is done.

Come on guys lets have a little more consideration for fellow holidaymakers - If Caravan site owners started banning dogs (as some already have) we would be really stuck ?

Once again I must reiterate that the aforementioned has no bearing on Ross Park itself just some of the inconsiderate visitors that go there.

Ross Park is the most fantastic site. !

Wow Wow Wow. So good we booked it for our holiday next year. Fabulous site. Superb toilet facilities. Brilliant Dog Walks (even though we left ours at home). A 5 star site at only £13.50 for a caravan, awning, 2 adults and dogs in May.

Helen and Mark who run this site to perfection cannot be highly praised enough for the time and dedication that put into their work.

The site has fantastic toilet facilities with private wet room / toilet / shower and sink - fully heated and exceptionally clean (the gents were just as spotless). We never had to queue. The washing up facilities are also spotless and inside, no washing up in the rain here.

There is a lovely bar with reasonably priced drinks - it doesn't open every night though (we just stocked up on wine from Asda at Newton Abbott 3 ish miles away). There is also a conservatory where you can sit and chill, have a drink / meal and dogs are welcome here.

We walked to the Wellington pub in Ipplepen (1 ish mile away) and the Two Mile Oak pub (just under 1 mile).

The pitches are well laid out and a good size.

There is a huge gated dog walk where dogs could play off lead. We regretted bringing our labradors, but they will be visiting next July.

To end. I really can't praise this site enough. Keep up the good work guys. I can't wait to come back with Buster and Tilly :-)

Quite simply the best site we have stayed at, and we have been touring for 15 years.

Especially good if you have a dog - excellent facilities. With the huge dog field and the Cherry orchard to exercise your dog off lead and the equally large conservation field to walk on lead

Only gripe fields can get very muddy (reddish soil) when it rains but they do dry out quickly.

Well stocked shop and extremely helpful owners and staff led us to a wonderful weeks break even the weather wasn't playing along

I love this site, Mark and Helen and staff work hard to ensure the site is always immaculate, the flower beds and displays are beautiful. The early morning views from the conservation field of Ipplepen Church and the surrounding hills of Dartmore, Hay Tor etc can be seen for miles.

The facilities are excellent, wonderful shower rooms with toilets and washbasins, the new block is delightful so warm on a nippy morning. Visitors are welcome to sit in the conservatory, both the conservatory and Information Room are wi-fi hot spots, which is free to all visitors.

In addition to the shower rooms and toilets the site has

Laundry room

Dishwashing room

Games Room

Snooker Room

Skittles Alley

Shop

Enclosed large dog walk

Dog Shower Room with all facilities, adjacent to the dog field.

The bus stop is only a few minutes away on the main road with Buses to Totnes, Newton Abbot, Exeter etc.

We have stayed here often and it never fails to give us a great holiday.

This is a truly excellent site! We have just returned from a weeks stay at this site and I cannot fault our stay at all. We were greeted with a friendly welcome from the owners who not only showed us to our pitch but also towed the caravan for us from reception and parked it in place for us. The pitches are all individual with hedges to divide them and are fully serviced with hardstandings.

The facilities are second to none. They provide individual shower rooms with modern facilities and were always spotless. There is a restaurant and conservatory area on site as well - we did not use them but seemed very popular with other visitors to the site.

We brought our little border terrier with us and she was looked after as well as we were. The site welcomes dogs and provides excellent dog walking areas and you can take dogs into the conservatory area for a drink or a meal.

There is also an excellent tourist information area as well provide a wealth of information about the local area. The site does have a well stocked shop and the owners do a paper ordering facility to make sure you get your favourite daily paper if required. The prices within the shop were very reasonable.

The site is easily accessible just off a lane which is off a main road so no worries towing your caravan down tight lanes. The location is ideal for seeing a lot that Devon has to offer including Dawlish, Torquay, Brixham and Dartmouth which are all close by.

Overall we had an excellent experience at Ross Park and would recommend it to all. We will be back!

I phoned on the 11th and amazingly they fitted us in for the following day.

On arrival, I reported to reception and Mark came and took our van and pitched it for us. Hard standing, fully serviced pitch.

The restaurant was closed (out of season). Pub was a little too far to walk, who cares!

We didn't use the laundry facilities.

The toilets and showers were kept spotless.

Very large dog exercise areas, with dog shower and drying facilities

No loose rubbish/litter anywhere. All grass and hedges kept well trimmed.

We noticed that the pitches were prepared as soon as they were vacated.

Nothing was too much trouble. Mark even opened the conservatory for me.

Newton Abbott, about three miles down the road with a large ASDA. Trago Mills is a couple of miles the other side of Newton Abbott.

The only thing that spoiled it for us, was the weather, gales and heavy rain.

Brilliant site. We will be going back again

We stayed at Ross Park for 14 nights and still didn't want to come home, what a fantastic site, spotless facilities, with the most helpful, friendly owners we have come across.

There were loads of toilets and showers, with 6 rooms that had toilet, shower and washbasin in.

The dog walk was big enough to let our dog have a run, with a dog shower at the entrance. We showered our German Shepherd for 40p.

The restaurant was popular though we only used the take away service.

Laundry facilities were good with plenty of washers and driers.

The rubbish was collected at least twice a day and we saw pitches being swept and raked prior to new arrivals being pitched.

The site is only a short drive from Torquay and Dawlish with Totnes and Dartmoor in the other direction.

The slightly negatives, on arrival we had to wait to be pitched, that was ok, we arrived at the same time as 3 other units, but nobody pointed out where the shop / reception was we thought that we would have been told once the owner Mark had pitched our van but nothing except have a nice stay.

The other thing was that the van was pitched for us.

As others have commented this site is impeccable in every way, flowers everywhere, friendly, well run, toilets immaculate.
Paid £12 /night for two with ehu and hardstanding and own water supply plus drain. Plenty of wild life and open space at rear of site. Restaurant was shut being Oct.
And no pub within reasonable walking distance however there is a bus stop at the bottom of the road(100 yds.) to either Newton Abbot or Totnes. Being a touch hilly and a busy main road not good here for cycling.

What a wonderful site Helen and Mark, go the extra mile to make your stay perfect, they work extremely hard and it shows the site has excellent facilities, superb floral displays and a very nice lounge bar and conservatory also a shop selling basic items,
There is some good play equipment for children. The food at the restaurant was very nice we dined there regularly including barbecue nights,
There are good circulars walks locally within a short drive ask at reception they will loan you the books and photocopy walks for nothing!

A great day out for family's is Decoy Country Park 60p to park all day take a Picnic and the kids will wear themselves out there is loads of free play equipment.

We did some 3 mile walks which led us to some wonderful shallow bays where children could paddle and swim safely I think it was (Broadsands)

Just down the road within walking distance from Ross Park is a Texaco garage and Spar shop with all you need a little further towards Newton Abbot is Fermoys a shop and garden centre and on the same site is a great Butchers, for your Barbeque items.

Pubs and Restaurants are all around you and in Newton Abbot is a large Asda. What more could you want? We will be back next year.

Fantastic Site, we stayed on the Leisure Field with a small number of other tent users, great views, ample space, good play area for the Children including a badminton/bowls area. Good facilities for the dogs - two large off lead areas, shower/drying facility and dogs were allowed in the Conservatory which was lovely.

Other facilities included undercover table tennis and skittles (great to entertain the children when it rained), small games area, Tourist information.

Reception with Small shop/papers etc.

Restaurant very nice, bingo night a lovely family evening as was the BBQ/music night.

This quite site is very well managed with lovely friendly staff, very clean and has good showers etc.

The caravan pitches looked very spacious and well kept.

Thanks Ross Park a perfect site - we will be back!
