What a fantastic site this is, please don't be put off by the size of this site as it does not have that feel to it! You can pick your spot and can be as secluded if you wish. There are not rows and rows of caravans and it is superbly situated with a delightful walk along the lake into Coniston. There are lots of beautiful walks and plenty to do around this area. The toilet blocks were immaculately clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We were a bit put off initially with the number of pitches but decided to give it a go anyway and cannot praise this site enough. We have a 10 and 3 year old whom both thoroughly enjoyed this site and didn't want to leave! We will definitely be returning to this site again.

Just returned from 4 nights stay. We didn't know what to expect as this is a very large site, however the pitches are spaced out into small terraces so it doesn't seem that big. Three separate toilet/shower blocks that are modern warm and clean. I didn't use the facilities just had a look in. All of the wardens were very friendly, small shop on site that had a few essentials however the site had only opened a few days earlier. Lovely walk into Coniston along the river, or a small path (old railway line) just off the road at the top of the site. Digital TV reception ok as long as you use the 'bollard' The weather was very kind whilst we were there which made the holiday. Some fantastic walks straight from the site so never needed to move the car for the whole time we were there.

This is a wonderful site and I would definitely go again! Located just outside Coniston, it is only a short walk into the village. This site has just had a major overhaul and has 300 pitches - mostly hardstanding, each with EHU and aerial socket for digital tv. This was great as it saved us having to put up the satellite dish and as it is in woodland it may have been difficult to get a signal anyway. The toilets and facilities are immaculate and outstanding. The reception has a small shop stocking a few provisions, including rock pegs which you will need if intending to use an awning, chemicals for toilets etc; The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
The lakes are all within easy reach of each other but it can seem ages to get to some as the roads are all twisty and turning. There are some very narrow points and being extra careful helps especially if you were to meet a caravan or lorry coming the other way! Ambleside is gorgeous and there are lots of things to do - we had a cruise on Lake Windermere - we even got 10% discount for being CC members so it worth taking your card with you. I would most definitely use this site again for its peace and tranquility in a beautiful location.

Just returned from 3 nights at Park Coppice. We usually shy away from big sites (and they don't come much bigger)but this was well worth the visit.
The pitches are distributed around the wooded site in clearings of differing sizes therefore if you prefer a bit of privacy as we do then choose a smaller pitch.
Shower blocks and facilities are clean and modern and if you enjoy walking then it's ideal for the motorhomer as you can leave your rig and get out there.
Coniston is a small but busy village but with 3 pubs/hotels and a selection of shops you shouldn't go without those essential supplies. Walk around the lake, up the copper mines valley or tackle the 'Old Man'.
There is so much to do around here if you get the right weather and fortunately we did. One criticism, if you choose a pitch away from the shower blocks then take a torch cos it's very dark and lighting is possibly a little too subdued but all in all a great base to explore this corner of the lakes and despite the size very peaceful.

We have just returned from a wonderful week at this site. It is extremely well laid out and very pretty with just a short walk through the wood down to lake Coniston. The walk into Coniston town is all on the flat, so walking is very easy and very enjoyable. The area is absolutely beautiful !
The toilet / showers are the best we have every experienced. Always immaculately clean and brand spanking new.
As previous reviews have stated, it is set out in separate areas so you never feel it is just one huge site. It is very carefully laid out. We loved it and will definitely go back again. I would thoroughly recommend this site. I was extremely sad to leave and would have loved another week !
I was only disappointed that the WiFi was not yet connected as I love to research places to visit and could not this time. Hopefully next time I will be able to.

We visited the site for one night only in our motorhome at the end of a few days around the Lakes and Dales. Although the site has a huge amount of pitches, it is landscaped well which means there aren't long lines of vans parked in exactly the same way which makes for a little more privacy than other sites. It also stops the site feeling overwhelmingly large. The walk into Coniston is a lovely walk down to the Lake and then through farmland and takes about 30 minutes with a good pub in the village.
The shower and toilet facilities are great, and of a high standard. I presume they have been recently updated as the site was recently closed for refurbishment.
We would definitely try this one out again.

Having booked for 11 nights earlier in the year, we were slightly concerned after having read some of the reviews here. We nearly cancelled and booked elsewhere! Having decided to stick with our decison, we were very glad we did. The site, as you'd imagine, was in amongst the trees, with a selection of pitches. If you wanted to camp alone or amongst others, both pitch options were available. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Even though the site was full, we never queued for a shower, a toilet cubicle or the washing up facilities. The newly refurbished facilities are the best we've ever encountered, beautifully new and clean, spacious and plentiful. Having control of both the temperature and water flow was as good as the shower at home.
The walk down to the lake was quick and easy and both walks into Coniston were enjoyable. Coniston itself is lovely with a good range of shops and pubs, whilst retaining its quiet manner.
One minor complaint about Park Coppice would be the lack of Wifi (despite being advertised on their website as newly available). Apparently, it is coming later. Also, very unusual, we thought, not to have recycling points in a campsite. Other than that, we'd thoroughly recommend it!

Well, Park Coppice has had it's re-furb and I can honestly say I could have cried when it was time to leave. Wonderful clean site, wonderful wardens, lovely new toilet blocks and facilities and to top it off for us wonderful weather too. Booked again for October half term. Would not hesitate to recommend this site to anyone who loves the outdoors.
The walk down to the lake is short and on reasonable pathways and the walk into Coniston pretty.
We ate at the Sun Hotel in Coniston and this is a very nice establishment and the decor and hospitality lovely.
All in all a wonderful week away.

We had a fabulous week, it was sunny which always helps!
The site was spotless, the facilities were clean and plentiful and the layout makes a large site feel compact and friendly.
Wonderful position in the region and walking distance to the lakeshore.
The stony ground means that rock pegs are essential but as they had had 8 weeks of rain before we arrived the stony ground means fast drying and no puddles or mud. All good!
Some plots have a bit of a walk to the nearest washing block but as we were on a walking holiday it didn't matter!
We are going again in 2011 definitely!

Visited soon after the site reopened following major refurbishment. The toilet/laundry facilities are now up to full Caravan Club standard and cant be faulted. Amenity points (including chemical disposal facilities) are well distributed throughout the site and the main routes through the site are all freshly tarmacked. Beyond that the site is unchanged and the secluded woodland pitches will please some and put others off. Personally we liked the site but when going again would visit in May/June when the lighter nights would suit the shaded aspect better and also be better for visits to the pub along the unlit pathway/busy road.
