We stay at Park Coppice regularly as it is fairly local to home and when we pitch up, we could be anywhere in the world. Great Lake District location with wonderful scenery and outstanding surrounding countryside, a must for walkers. The Wilsons Arms at Torver, 20 minute walk away is dog friendly and offers great food, great value for money, lovely staff and real ales. Coniston is a nice walk away and can be done via footpaths as opposed to the main road. Caravan Clubs usual high standards in all 3 shower blocks, small children's play areas spread out around site which is a fair size. You can chose your own pitch which is very good for us as we often meet friends there for a weekend with their van so can be near each other. Wardens always very helpful and they keep the site well maintained and very clean. Access is tricky in places and we think if you can tow on this road you can tow anywhere, it is a main route but narrow in parts so expect to meet tractors, buses, bin wagons etc and you will be fine. Thousands of touring vans are up and down this road every year without issue. Site itself in the spring/summer months can be quite dark as it is in woodland but there are plenty of really sunny pitches.

Just spent 9 days at this site and found everything about it great. It is a very large site, that is very hilly.
The pitches are large and very varied' it all comes down to your personal preference. Most are under a canopy of trees but we did not find this an issue. We chose a pitch at the bottom of the site closest to the lake which was ideal with the immaculate toilet facilities and park close by but the lake only a short stroll.
Lots to do in the area especially if you are fit and active. My advice is that if you go prepared for wet weather you will have a great time.
Don't expect sunshine as it rained everyday whilst we were there! Overall a great place to holiday.

Visit this site every year I love it. Wardens fantastic, very cheerful and hard working. Lots of pitches to choose from even when busy, separate tent area.
Large toilet blocks with disable facilities, laundry, veg preparation and washing up.
Lots of walks, Coniston village has lots of shops and attractions, a walk by the lake and a trip on one of the boats is a must.
Handy base to visit other lakes and attractions in the area by car or bus. 2 play areas for kids. Off site dog walking area, must be on lead at all times, although not all dog owners took notice of this rule unfortunately.

Arrived on site at just after 12 noon on Friday prior to the bank holiday. Quick and easy check in as expected, then the problems began.
We drove around the site trying to find a pitch large enough for tourer and awning, the site was pretty full which did not leave many suitable pitches. We found the available pitches to be very small and very uneven. We tried one pitch but could not get the tourer level even using levelling blocks. So again we drove round trying to find another suitable pitch.
We were surprised that this site seems to be 'anything goes' several cars to each pitch, pup tents, gazebo's and even large trailers with boats on them.
The site is very steep with a dense covering of trees in rainy conditions it is impossible not to have everything covered in a thick layer of mud.
The facilities was normal CC standards, clean showers and toilets - annoying key entry, I much prefer a combination system as you don't have to remember to take bulky keys with you.
This site seems to be a favourite for water sports customers as it has easy access to the lake.
I think this is a 'love or hate' it site and personally I hated it.

Mixed weather during stay but was a most enjoyable break.
Directions warn of narrow roads on final approach but we found them to be more than wide enough. Just look ahead for wide vehicles coming your way and slow down.
Walked round the lake to Brantwood and got the ferry back to Coniston. Took about 90 minutes.
Facilities on site are very clean and sufficient in number. Although it is a large site there is no sense that there are a lot of caravans around you.
Wardens were very helpful and the small shop stocked forgotten essentials.
A fish and chip van visits the site but we did not avail ourselves of its services.
We will definitely return again.

Just spent a lovely few days on this site
Much larger than I thought but in a very pretty woodland position, with a walk down to the lake
Clean and warm toilet blocks (3) I think, with wash up area and laundry
A lovely walk in to Coniston Village all, but a short walk across the road, off road and very pleasant. Half way through the walk you can drop off to The Ship Inn, we had lunch there, very good but closes at 2. 30 'til 6. 00
Loved Coniston, lots of shops and places to eat
There are more walks by the lake to the village.
There is a shop on site where you can get bread, milk and papers and they carry a good stock of bits you may have forgotten, staff very friendly and helpful.
You can flag down a bus out side the site that runs between Ulverston and Coniston, limited time table, but very convenient for a day out in either place, but last one from Coniston back to site about 5. 00 pm.
Will go back.

This is my favourite site. You can choose your pitch amongst the woodland and it is so peaceful and beautiful.
Facilities are good and clean. Fantastic soft floored playareas suitable for all ages 3 upwards.
Coniston village is just a mile or so and there are easy walking paths Would recommend to anyone.
We visit this site a lot and never have a problem finding a suitable pitch but some people do take the micky parking there small camper van in a large plot suitable for bigger units !

This is one of our favourite sites. You can choose your pitch amongst the woodland and it is so peaceful and beautiful.
Facilities are good and clean and it recently went a refurb, although everyone look okay to us on a previous visit.
Coniston village is just a mile or so and there are easy walking paths and it is nearby for walkers to climb the Old Man and other mountains.
Would recommend to anyone.
We don't have young children, but there was a children's play area.

We have just returned from a weekend at this site and it was better than expected. It had been recommended a few times so we decided to give it a go.
It's a great base for a range of outdoor activities and there are many pubs which serve excellent food within walking distance. If you have one to many drinks the local taxi from the town was only £8.
The facilities are very clean and there are many shower/toilet blocks to choose from so you're never too far away. The reception was very helpful also even though we did not arrive until 7:30pm.
Would recommend the Cumbrian Heavy Horse's as a day out. There very welcoming and cater for every riding ability.
Will surely be returning!

Was initially booked onto this site for 5 nights. Upon our arrival we amended to 2 nights, firstly because of the weather (torrential rain) and secondly we realised we didn't really like the site that much when we arrived!
Site is situated next to Coniston but nowhere on the parks 280 pitches can you see you are next to a lake. Very heavily wooded, we normally enjoy woodland sites but you come to the Lakes for the Lakes so it's such a shame you cannot see it!
At reception we were told to drive around and look for a pitch and then to let them know where we had pitched. (we are very familiar with CC pitching). We drove around this huge site trying to find a nice pitch, the pitches are nicely set out in little wooded cul-de-sac areas so plenty of privacy if you like that sort of thing.
We managed to get a pitch right next to the bottom toilet block and got set up. As the reception is half a mile uphill at the top of the site I decided to ring reception and let them know what pitch number we had decided on (we have done this many times on CC sites without problem).
After putting the kettle on and settling down a warden gentleman came knocking on the door. I cannot believe the way he spoke to my husband - almost telling him off that we hadn't gone back to reception to collect our shower block keys. He had a very poor attitude, had we known when we arrived that we had to collect keys we would have come back! Seems a very strange system to me, as by the time you had chosen your pitch and driven back to let reception know and collect your 'key' another customer could have pinched your pitch or chosen the same pitch!
Back to the facilities: The shower block is one of the best I have seen on any caravan site. Very new and modern and exceptionally clean. The nice thing about the bottom shower block is that they do not clean it until 3pm - so no need to rush after breakfast.
What a lot of the previous reviews do not mention on here is that the whole site is on a hillside - so anyone with walking difficulties (like me) may have a problem. The pitches are level, but if you are at the bottom of the site and need to go to reception it is half a mile walk uphill. So some users may struggle. Also the site is so big, we never really got our bearings.
To sum up -
Usual CC spotless facilities, clean & tidy. Site is massive, (too big for us) and on a hillside with no view at all. We would not return.
