Just got back from a weekend away with my husband and seven year old daughter.
This is a lovely site set amongst trees, large and busy but enough room between pitches. There's a walking/cycle track through fields to Coniston lake and village which was about 10-15 mins by bike.
The toilet/shower blocks were cleaned every day and at regular intervals so there was always one open when another was closed for cleaning. They were spotless at all times, private showers with enough room to put all your washing stuff and towels without getting everything soaked and also private rooms with sinks.
On arrival the reception staff were friendly and helpful. The computer system was down the weekend that we were there so they couldn't advice us of available pitches so we had to drive round in search of one but that was no fault of there's. We ended up quite a bit away from reception and then had to trek back to pick up the key for the toilet/shower block which wouldn't have been a problem but we arrived later than expected so had limited time to get back before reception closed at 8pm. I took my daughter with me and we jogged to reception which she thought was great fun! There was a fish and chip van that came on site Friday and Saturday 6 - 8pm, it was nothing special and was expensive. Good to use if you arrive late an starving like us though!
Lovely site and gorgeous setting, we would definitely visit again but for longer next time.

Nice site set in woodland mostly under trees can be noisy when rain comes off trees on to roof so choose your pitch according to weather the site is superb in a great location with the best ever new shower toilet facilities nearest pub is the ship inn serving good food and ale in a child / dog friendly atmosphere about 10 min walk from site the village of Coniston is a further 20min walk

We spent a week here over the Easter holidays and had a great time.
The site is very different from usual CC sites - no manicured lawns here. The site is basically in a forest and as such, all the pitches are stoney and VERY hard to get pegs into. I even bent some rock pegs!
The pitches themselves are mostly level and, unlike most CC sites, arranged haphazardly all over the place, which is quite nice. The site roads are almost all on a slope of some sort.
Shower blocks were the cleanest we've ever found in the UK - you could shave in the reflection off the taps! Showers hot, reasonably strong and a normal tap, not the stupid push-button jobbies.
The wardens were a little more anal than normal CC staff (if possible), giving us a detailed explanation of how we must pitch, complete with 3D model. I think we got them on an off-day when we arrived as they were not very friendly - seemed very worried about our friends German van with the door on the wrong side. Lots of scratching of heads as they drew pictures to explain how he must pitch. But they were ok on subsequent visits to reception.
There are 3 small play areas but they're only really suitable for young kids (under 7).
Any downsides to the site were more than made up for by the area in general. This was our first time in the Lake District since I was a kid and, wow, it is surely the prettiest part of our beautiful country (I haven't been to Scotland yet, however). From the site, you can walk/cycle down to the lake (200 metres) and then go on to Coniston via the lakeside. There is a lovely new Bluebell cafe on the lakeside - great food.
So many great walks in the area, I'd suggest buying a guide in advance. Also several cycle routes but the area is hilly, so most aren't suitable for small kids (except the route between the site and Coniston along the lake). Some very taxing rides into the hills round the lake.
What is particularly nice about Coniston is that it is nowhere near as busy as Ambleside / Kendall / Windermere - the roads don't have queues of traffic and you can safely cycle on the smaller side roads. However, note that all access roads to this site are pretty narrow - take it slow.

What a nice site. Very we'll located for Coniston, which is about a mile away along a pleasant track (through a campsite and some fields). The site is a bit hilly but it's really not a problem. Some of the pitches are a bit irregular in size but there's so many of them you'll be able to find one that suits your needs.
The facilities are spotless and we'll looked after by attentive site staff. There are a couple of small playgrounds for kids which can get quite crowded, another area wouldn't go amiss. You need to remember your key to access the facilities which is only annoying if you forget it.
Overall a good site in an excellent location, one we'll definitely be using again.

We spent two nights at this site at the end of December, before moving on to Bowness for new year.
Facilities on site are excellent. Showers are clean and there are lots of them. Pitches are large and EHU and TV points.
It's well-located for visiting Coniston, which is a 20 minute walk away (though the path does flood in poor weather). The village has a number of shops and places to eat and drink.
The site also makes an excellent base for walking, both around the lake and in the high fells.

In the month of September the site was pretty quiet with one section not in use. As stated by many, the facilities and wardens are excellent, well up to the standard one comes to expect from Caravan Club. I particularly liked the close proximity of the bus stop outside the gates, from where I was able to travel easily all over the Lake District although it was time consuming, the various bus services were not synchronised and one had to plan ahead to make sure one did not miss 'the last bus'. The bus driver on the Ulverston-Coniston route which serves the site was the most charming and helpful person you could ever wish to meet. Long live the independents! Stagecoach provided the service Coniston-Windermere, via Hawkshead Village, which with its Beatrix Potter associations made a pleasant stop-over. One poster commented about the narrow route to the site, well I would hate to meet the Stagecoach bus on the route over Hawkshead Hill and would never contemplate driving my motorhome to the campsite in Hawkshead, although other brave souls obviously do. I stayed a week and enjoyed it immensely.

This was the first stayover at coniston instead of a day trip and so glad we chose Park Coppice. What a lovely well laid out site in the middle of woodland and only a short pleasant walk to the lake. Would recommend the ship inn as only a short walk and dog friendly but check opening times as closed on afternoons! The site staff were all lovely even to giving the odd onion as they are one of the few items not stocked in their shop! Facilities to 5* standard with good cleaning times to stop the rush! Would definitely visit again!

Pros
1. Big site - spare pitches without booking.
2. Large pitches
3. Friendly wardens
Cons
1. Road approach is really bad - fairly narrow road with many bends. Made much worse by local van and truck drivers going too fast; in our case caused clash of wing-mirrors - white van man over centre of road on our side - we were as close to nearside stone wall as possible. Both our mirrors sprung out of mountings - large hung on by heater wires, small one hit road but later recovered undamaged! (Recently fitted Mirrorguards did their job so no permanent damage after cleaning etc possibly saving a £350 Fiat replacement!) Spoke to 5 other CC members - all said the same - first visit to site and will not return! 'Should be proper warnings' in CC site directions etc. Caravan owners also said further chaos caused by caravans leaving and entering site at same time (mid-morning)
2. Site so big and hilly that all but fairly fit people will find it difficult to move far from van - and impossible to walk to/from lakeside.
3. Nowhere to exercise a dog 'off-lead'.
Summary: If you want a stress free holiday avoid this site!

This is a great site for families with young children who like play parks, there are 3 to choose from and those who like to get out and make the most of the scenery. The facilities are spotless, we were surprised at £22 because you get hot showers, a family room if needed, play area's and a short walk to the shores of Coniston. The staff are great, the wardens come and check the play areas for any faults, the kids were great, they just made friends right from the start and there were no noisy groups, drunken thugs and mad dogs.
It's a top class, safe site for families, maybe more geared towards Motorhomes and Tourers but the filed we were in was spot on. Just remember to take 'rock pegs'!
I didn't know this at the time so had to buy 20 (and a suitable mallet) from the on site shop. £18 in total, but hey, live and learn :-)
We pitched in pouring rain, but the weather brightened up over the 3 days we were there and we went to Grizedale Forest, got fish and chips from the local chippy on the last night and sat on the shore of the lake. Has to be done, it's beautiful there. Tarn Hows has to be seen to on the way back from Grizedale. The view was fantastic.
Anyway, go and try it out, it's definitely worth visiting.

Let's start off by saying that this was the only site that had space for my camper van because I had forgotten it was a bank holiday weekend. That said, I think it is in a well located part of the Lakes if you want to be far from the madding crowd, yet centrally located for all the Lakes has to offer. The site is huge and as such is busy and a little noisy. Pitch number 4 appeared to be in a quiet spot and I could not understand why some people opted to put their full facility vans near the loos or the roads - the lakes are a serene, beautiful, romantic place - noise is not what I subscribe to. I was overall happy with my pitch but the campers below soon discovered a track behind my van, acting as a shortcut to reception, thus traipsing over my pitch and my daughter's toys - this I was not happy about. Some sites I am happy to sit and read on, kick back, chill out and enjoy - this was not for that, however, I had come to the lakes to cycle and walk and was not disappointed. My first gripe though was the sign at the front of the site to Coniston - showing a bicycle image and suggesting a footpath - Do not take your children along this path, it ends after about a mile and takes you onto a very dangerous bend in the road with no footpath. You will eventually find the top path which is dark and muddy. If you want to cycle/walk to Coniston, walk to the very back of the site, towards the lake, through a gate and through another campsite - watch out for this campsite though, during this BHW, it could only be described as a festival - a great atmosphere but not for the faint hearted. The walk to Coniston this way, was though, far more pleasant. A much nicer walk though is to go the other way to Trover then up past the climbing hut - once in the hills, the views are stunning and waterfalls can be found for a little extra magic. You can do a circular walk back into Coniston which totals around six and a half miles. I have read other comments about the keys to the loos and I totally agree. I agree with keeping the loos at the back of the site locked to discourage the other camp site, but for goodness sake, do you know how frustrating it is to get to the loo and realise you have forgotten your key? I must say the Wardens on this site were doing an impeccable job, they were flat out but remained upbeat and cheery. I am afraid I don't think I will go back to this site, as said before, I come to the Lakes for peace and quiet and there are plenty of other good sites around. Finally, a small word about the Landlord at the Ship Inn, I possibly caught him on a bad day but I found him rather intimidating and his pub is certainly not the best in the area, so may I suggest the sign is removed encouraging campers to his pub and a list of ALL available pubs put in its place?
