We stayed 3 nights on this site as part of a 2 site week in the lakes.
A typical Caravan Club site, as you would expect Good facilities on site, lots of showers with hot water, although cubicles were small, take flip flops and a small towel to stand on so you don't get your clothes wet when you dressing after shower, toilets, laundry and dishwashing areas.
The site I did feel was a little impersonal as it was so big. The staff were friendly and helpful and kept the site and facilities clean.
Lots of play areas for the kids. If you don't want to be too close to the noise off the playareas choose a pitch on the far side of the park on the way back up the one way, by the dog walk, Its further to walk for the loo's but quieter.
There were plenty of types of pitches to choose from, Hard and grass, some in open grassed areas and some more private hardstanding, all surrounded by trees. The grassed areas were quite mucky when we went as there had been lots of rain so we went for a nice private hardstanding area.
Great site to base yourself for the area. A short walk into Coniston by road, footpaths or by the lake all accessed on site. Most of the pubs in the area are dog friendly. I think all but one let us in with the dogs.
Plenty of places to visit by car, Windermere, Ambleside etc all short drives away.
Overall a good base to visit the area and Coniston itself was lovely.

Park Coppice is a lovely site set in an ancient Lakeland woodland of mostly deciduous trees. It is quite an unusual site in that it covers a large area and is divided off into bays, so it feels like you are staying on a small site. Many of the pitches are very private. There is a good road network round the site. The site is on a steep hillside but the vast majority of the pitches have been terraced and are level. Most pitches are very shady however, and in the normal damp Lake District weather, expect to have trees dripping long after the rain has finished. There are a variety of pitches on the site, some in open clearings, some individual and some in small groups. While close to the lake, you cannot see it from most pitches. The site is split into 2, the red barrier and the blue barrier.
Toilets, as one would expect from the CC, are well presented and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.
It is a superb site for walking, there are several walks near the site, and it is an easy walk down to Lake Coniston. There is a footpath along the side of the lake.
Road access to the site is narrow and winding, care is needed.
Only downside was that when busy some pitches were quite close together and several caravans did not meet the 20ft rule.
It is a great site for birdwatching. You can tell the regulars - they bring a bird feeder with them, and the birds seem quite tame. We actually had a robin flew into the van.
At night the campsite lights are few and far between, do bring a torch if nocturnal visits to the loo are likely.
One piece of advice: If you are fussy about the type of pitch you want, before going through either the blue barrier or the red barrier, park up and have a walk around instead. The site has a complicated layout and you can miss some of the best pitches. You have to go back to reception anyway to tell them which pitch you have got.

On arrival you are greeted by the usual CC booking in procedure. The site is actually split into two separate areas by two barriers, through the blue one is the smaller area and the tent field, through the red barrier is the main site, which is spread over a huge area.
There is also a small shop at reception but you have to know what you want as you can not just wander round and browse you have to ask over the counter.
There are some pitches that would be difficult for a motorcarvan, but you should be able to find a pitch to suit, most are under / surrounded by trees, the most open area is through the blue barrier.
The toilet blocks are dated and could do with being refurbished soon, but were always clean and well maintained by the wardens, although as others have stated the cubicles are small compared to other CC sites.
Walking out of the bottom of the site brings you to Coniston water and walks to Coniston, Torver or just along the lake shore, Coniston is an easy walk through Coniston Hall campsite and then a footpath.
Overall the site feels a bit worn and needs some TLC, the nearest service points to us had no chemical disposal point, you could see there was one once but it had been removed. The cubicle doors and fittings could all do with the screws tightening, I also went to have a shower one day, got undressed etc turned round to start the shower and found no tap to turn it on.
We did like the site, it's nicely laid out in a wonderful area but probably wont return until the amenities have been updated.

Arrived for a 2 week holiday on a dry Friday night, the 300 pitch site was full & had difficulty finding a pitch. The one we found seemed dry but was very close to the road like the majority are. Set in woodlands so all pitches are under trees & as we had horrific weather from the 1st night we stayed damp throughout the 2 weeks & we had a river running under the awning which never dried out. We were pitched half on muddy gravel & half on mud.
Lovely walk down to the lake through a water logged Coniston Hall field.
40 minutes walk to Coniston,20 minutes to the local pub.
We found the Wardens very pleasant & were booked in quickly.
The showers are cleaned regularly but are in need of inprovement, the smallest I have ever used & the water can become very hot. There are plenty of toilets, sinks, washing up facilities, drinking water taps & chemical disposal points dotted around the site.
As it was very wet we had to use the laundry facilities which in my opinion were useless.
The washers cost £3 & did not wash the clothes or dissolved the powder. I spent about £5 in the drier just to get one small load of washing dry. The spin drier (broken) was ancient as was the gas driers & washers.
The Wardens keep the site clean & tidy but the Club must make improvements to the facilities as they are just not good enough for such a large site.
Coniston has a variety of small shops, co-op, a small grocery store, newsagents, gift shops & walking shops & a Post Office which now has a free cash machine inside at the back. We found it better to go & do a large shop at Booths in Ulverston.
We didnt eat out as the pub meals seemed expensive.
I would go back but only for a sunny weekend.
Unless the club refurbish the site !

This is a nice site set in woodland. The pitches are scattered around the park and you choose your own pitch and then tell reception.
A short track leads you down to Coniston water.
The walks are breathtaking dogs love it.
The site is clean there is a small shop on site and a mobile chip shop visits.
Tv reception is not very good. And sky .To many trees
In Coniston there are plenty of small shops and pubs and even a petrol station.
There are a lot of weekend visitors so the place gets packed.
For the people who have never been to the lakes before.
The place is fantastic loads to see if you travel around a bit. Some of the roads are tight even for cars. But if you want a laugh try Hardknot pass on a nice day it is stunning.

We have just returned from Park Coppice and found it to be be exactly as described.
It is very clean and tidy and well laid out.
The toilets are immaculate as are the showers, and cleaned regularly.
The walk into Conniston is 40 minutes, but is a gentle stroll rather than a route march.
The site was full when we were there, but still found it to be a pleasure due to the layout.
We are going back, and the only negative is that we only stayed 5 days. A previous review stated that it was ' Bleak ,' nothing could be further from the truth. Go and enjoy.

I feel that we must have been staying at a different site from most of the Reviewers here! I cannot see how this site has achieved a five star rating by Caravan Club standards.
The plus points:-
Very pleasant and helpful staff, spotless toilets and showers.
The minus points:-
The hardstandings weren't properly sectioned off and were either gravel or mud/dirt.
The site was huge and very bleak, maybe something to do with the weather being bitterly cold whilst we were there.
The toilet and shower cubicles were tiny, the smallest we have ever seen on a C.C. Site. (and we are quite slim!)
The walk into Coniston village took about 40 mins. Each way which is a long trek just to buy a newspaper or a stamp.
The roads around the site are too narrow to tour around in a large motorhome which meant that if we wanted to see the surrounding lakes, we had to do the 40 min. Walk into Coniston to get a bus, or do 20min. Walk to the site entrance before catching the bus into Coniston to get a bus elswhere. Any trip out took all day!
The site would not be suitable for anyone who is even slightly disabled as it was walk, walk and more walking! You couldn't go anywhere if you had to use a wheelchair or a mobility scooter.
We have stayed on CC sites which have a lower 'star' rating but are far superior in our opinion. I don't think we'll be visiting Park Coppice again.

We arrived at Park Coppice on Monday 26th May which was a bank holiday - as we were arriving everyone else was leaving! We virtually had the whole site to choose a pitch. We chose a lovely secluded and sheltered spot in one of the wooded alcoves. There were probably only another 20 caravans on the site at the same time as us. We had a lovely walk into the village centre through fields and along the lake - it took about 45 minutes. We had lunch at the Black Bull Pub, which was very reasonably priced and dog friendly. The wardens were friendly and the toilet blocks were clean although not as uptodate as some other CC sites. We also stayed at this site in 2007 when it was much busier, but the layout of the site provides some privacy and peace and quiet even during busy periods. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

We enjoyed this site. There are lots of trees and we found getting tv a bit tricky on our particular pitch. I am sure other pitches would be quite OK though. The other problem we had was putting up the awning. The ground is very stony and our pegs bent! Fortunately tougher pegs were on sale in the small but well stocked site shop. It was a nice little walk into Coniston. It's a nicely run site but felt that wardens were keeping an eye on the kids so to speak although they are well behaved.

Gorgeous site, though OH thought it a dark site, been under the canopy of the trees and the weather!, gales, rain and more rain and mud. LOL. Pick your own spot and then you return to the warden and they give you a fob for the barrier and a toilet key.
We had the screw in rock pegs but OH ended up using a hammer as the drill seemed to be useless. Rock-hard.
But as previous reviews have said, facilities are good and clean. Plenty of sockets, hairdryers in the women's showers. Did think the shop shut early, seemed to be 05.30pm most nights and 07pm on a Friday night, but then again I'm probably use to supermarket hours. It was well stocked and had what we needed if we forgot anything while in town.
Staff are really excellent, as we cut our trip short because of the weather we got a refund for the nights not stopping.
10 minute walk down to the lake, which overlooks Grizedale Forest. Nice walk into town, through fields and a bit of road walking. We only tried the Black Bull PH and they were nice and friendly. Dogs loved it, plenty of walks, playing in the lake etc.
Winderemere and Ambleside not far. Took the ferry over, which was really quick. £3.50 by car.
We will go back but when its sunny and hot.
