Very nice site yes it has no views but it is set in a forest and the pitches are set in little groups like an housing estate.
All are on hard standing and not level and you will need rock pegs for awnings etc.
The children soon made friends and with the woods to explore for both young and old.
The lake is a small walk away where you can paddle if your brave (water is cold)or just chill out
You will need an aerial extension cable can be purchased from the shop as the signal is poor due to the mountains and the trees.
The toilets and showers are very clean but they are new.
Yes Coniston is a small village with a few shops and a village co-op store.
A good week was had here by us.
Ideal for walkers etc.
Please be aware off the cars as the don't abide by the 5 mph speed limit and on the pitch we were on was on a hill near the play area with cars speeding passed.

We spent a very laid back weekend here a month ago, and I mean very laid back, I twisted my back tying my shoelaces and was pretty laid up for most of the weekend ! Fellow tourers and the staff were absolutely brilliant, all were very willing to help in any way they could, so thank you to you all xx
The site itself was lovely and peaceful, we stayed there the weekend prior to the half term holidays. We loved the fact that the pitches are in small bays, no overcrowding etc. Being surrounded by woodland and wildlife made me feel at one with the world, despite my pain. All technology was left at home, no TV, no mobile phones, no laptop, it was the perfect get-away from it all retreat and we will definitely visit there again, and again, and again.
Ok, so what if the toilets were a little small and the shower blocks a little outdated, it's only a problem if you spend half of you holiday in there ! and I believe it is being totally modernised for the forthcoming season.
There's plenty to do out and about in Coniston, and remember you only get back from your holiday what you put into it !

Ive read a lot of the reviews about this site, which seems to bring about a big variety of opinions. For our part, we were very disappointed with this site Firstly the site itself- 250 odd pitches mainly set in gloomy, sunless clearings on the side of a hill with views to nowhere, you could be anywhere; a staff of 8 who were rarely to be seen - there was discarded rubbish chucked amongst the trees in many places, hand driers that didn't work etc etc: the toilet blocks are so out dated that we couldn't believe it was a club site (and yes I know they propose to update the middle one, but that should have been done 10 years ago)
Secondly, the location - I did not realise in advance that Coniston Water is largely inaccessible- very little of the lakeside can be walked round, and from this site, the two possible routes to Coniston are not particularly attractive.
Coniston itself is a very small town, with a limited range of shops. Apart from Coniston Old Man, not many of the fells are particularly easy to reach. My overall opinion - there are many much better sites and locations in the lake district than this one.

I had one night at Park Coppice in August in my VW campervan with my dog. Easy to find from Coniston, big reception parking area, friendly welcome, clear instructions about finding a pitch etc.- great site for both lone travellers and dogs! Brilliant walks though the site (on lead) down to the lakeside and footpaths (for good off lead running and swimming). Huge sprawling site in woodland with lots of tucked away little areas. Level and sloping so if you don't have chocks suggest asking for a level pitch when you book. Toilets and showers fine. Child and family friendly so lone travellers may wish to take this into account at school holiday times. Good O2 and Orange coverage here. Helpful and relaxed about frineds visiting and parking on my pitch for the day.

Visited this site at the end of August for 6 nights. Big, sprawling site; eventually found a nice pitch at end of cul de sac. Very quiet at night also very dark. Lots of kids on bikes. Have adventurous 7 year old who kept disappearing which was a bit hair raising! Kids playgrounds disappointing - more suitable for the under 3's than over. Did find a slightly more older play area near the tents on the last day. Toilets ok.Nothing to write home about. Cubicles too small for a family. Had to wait outside whilst 6 year old showered. Wardens seemed nice.Didn't rush us to pack up and go on the last day.
Nice walk/bike ride into Coniston. Enjoyed a trip on the NT Gondola and took the kids pond dipping/model making at Brantwood (£5 per child and well worth it). Found some kids go free tickets for the Lakeside Aquarium in the information room. Aquarium was packed with big queues (rainy day) - can come and go (just show receipt) so went for a walk and came back after 3.00pm when less busy. No toilets in Aquarium - have to use the station ones which is a pain. Tried to get to Hill Top (B Potter) house but 2 hr waiting time and very limited parking. Visited Muncaster which was great - lots to do and see, full day out and well worth price. Nice 5 mile walk at Monks Coniston up hill and through woods with excellent view at top. Allow at least 3 hours if with kids. Lake District is expensive place to visit. Petrol not cheap, small supermarkets / village shops only. Big supermarkets can be found at Barrow and Kendal.
In general this is a very large site with some good and bad pitches. We took our time and eventually found something that we were happy with. We had mixed weather which didn't help but made the best of things. Had already read reviews re tv reception so took a DVD player and caught up with some films. My advise. Do your research first (I like to find kids go free vouchers) and make some plans for both rainy and sunny days. Be flexible and make the most of your holiday. Wouldn't rush to go back to the site but like previous poster if we had to be in the Lakes this is as good a place as any.

This is an 'OK' kind of site. It left us pretty much middle-of-the-road as to what we thought of Park Copice. We wouldn't rush back here, but if the situation arose and we had to stay here, it wouldn't be a disaster.
Park Coppice is a large sprawling site divided up into glades cut into the trees where many of the pitches are located. There are also pitches lining the road that runs through the site. Many of these are very close together and feel somewhat claustrophobic. Word of warning when driving through the site; beware the copious number of children riding bikes, quite often at high speeds. This sureley must be an accident waiting to happen.
There are three toilet blocks servicing the whole of the site, and our advice would be to find out when they are closed for cleaning and then visit shortly after they reopen. With the amount of people using these facilities they can get pretty grim at times. Space is also at a premium once inside the shower, with it being a millitary manoevre not to get your clothes wet once you have finished showering.
Location is good however. A short walk through a camping field gets you to Coniston lakeside, and then you can follow the Cumbrian Way into Coniston itself which takes about 25 minutes. The discount tickets sold in Reception for the Coniston Launch are for the Red Route only which covers about half of the lake.
For food and drink you can try the Ship Inn which is about a 20 minute walk down footpath and road. Beer and food is at a reasonable price and the standard is acceptable. There is also a visiting Chip Van on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, but to get served frozen chips does seem to be defeating the object.
Try to approach from the South if you can, as from the Northern the side the roads are very tight, and with a big outfit practically impassable.
Park Coppice is very much a 'Marmite' site. Try it and see what you think.

I had to check the name of the site after reading the first latest reviews. Are there 2 Park Coppice caravan sites?
The toilet block is by far the worst that I have visited in a CC site. Going by the decor it was last renovated in the mid 80s. 6 showers in the mens block with only 3 being used due to the lack of water pressure to drive the other 3.
6 urinals, 6 WCs, 2 sinks, one (empty) soap dispenser, and a single warm air hand dryer that only works if your hands are close enough to sustain a 2nd degree burn.
To see what a modern, clean, toilet block should look like visit the Glen Coe club site.
We had asked for a spot close to the toilets as my wife is disabled. We got pitch 284. Stay away from pitch 284, that is where all the 4x4 drivers park when they want to use the toilets. Because the site is large, hilly, and sprawling the mums all drive to the toilet block in the mornings for their shower and at night to use the laundrette.
The disabled toilet block seems to have been designed by an able bodied person, the mirror is at a height that only a person sitting in a wheelchair can use. The cubicle is tiny like the ones in the main block, so if you had to assist someone you would get soaked as well.
I don't really know what else to tell you without making myself sound like a grump. This is my first review here that doesn't have nice things to say about the site I reviewed!
Unhelpful wardens. In a country obsessed with talking about the weather I was told that they post the days weather in the information room. Bear in mind that there is no radio reception and television reception is patchy. So asking at the shop is hardly being troublesome!
Kind running around shouting and screaming till dark.Although I have to say that the noise died down around 9.30 so it wasn't really all that bad.
I found the dog walk which isn't marked on the map.For the love of God avoid the dog walk. It is the single most slippy mud path that I have ever seen. Black black oily mud that took ages to wash off. (Yes I slipped and fell - twice - before turning around and coming back out!) Just walk teh dog up through the park and use the verges like everyone else.Or go up to the path at the top of the site and you will find a footpath through a field which eventually gives you a lovely view of Coniston. Be careful if taking soneone in a wheelchair or mobility scooter as there are no pavements and the locals like to speed.
The site shop is typical enough and there is a chip van that comes in 3 evenings a week.
This site may appeal to people who like water sports. But it is miles from anywhere and the lanes are very tight with the dry stone walling coming right up to the very edge of the road. Most of the time you are driving in a tunnel and you cannot take your eyes from the road for fear of meeting a local business van or lorry flying sround a corner. When you do get a brief glimpse of countryside there is nowhere to park up and enjoy it.
This is not a place that I would return to willingly. But I guess that my review reflects that. I don't want to put anyone off coming here, but just be aware that in the busy season it is not as nice as the romantic brochures would have you believe!

I'm afraid I didn't enjoy this site as much as other people. The pitches are small, with very little space for children to play. There are two or three parks, but the play equipment is only suitable for toddlers. Even my 3 year old found it too basic ! I wasn't impressed with the facilities. The toilet cubicles are so small that it was difficult to get in there even with only my youngest child, and I didn't find that they were particularly clean - not compared to other sites I have been to anyway. The weather didn't help - we had awful rain, and being under the trees clearly doesn't help, but I wouldn't rush to go there again. Also it is a shame to be in the Lake District and have no outlook at all. The fact that the site is on a hill and built within woodland is nice in one respect, but no views at all are available and that seems a real shame in the Lakes.

Writing this from the point of view as a camper and not a caravan owner. Have stayed at this site three times now and have loved every minute. The wooded surroundings are ideal 'playgrounds' for children and key fob access to the site makes it very safe. Personally I found the toilet block very clean and tidy and had no problem with the size of the showers, then I am only a 34' waist. Be aware though normal tent pegs are useless here as the top soil is a thin layer over hard rock, you NEED the big nail type pegs and a metal lump hammer to drive them in. A tent footprint is also a good Idea. Head for the Black Bull pub in Coniston that brews its own beer, highly recommend a pint of 'coniston Bluebird'

Just spent 5 nights here, all facilities you expect and at the usual standard from a Caravan Club site, however we didn't like the key system for the toilets and have preferred the keypad system used in other Caravan Club sites.
Good location which gives easy access to walks to suit all abilities. Easy access to Coniston lake and Coniston itself. The site as previously described is set in a number of groves in amongst trees and although the pitches themselves are only slightly sloping the site itself is on a hill. This caused us no problems but you don't get to see any of the stunning local scenery from the site itself and there is quite a climb from the wardens office to the bottom pitches so if mobility is a problem this fact might be worth bearing in mind. Wardens themselves were very helpful.
We sampled the ale and dining in a number of the pubs in the area and would recommend the Ship [ 20 mins walk from the site] and the Yewdale in Coniston itself.
Good position to visit Ambleside, Hawkshead and Windermere but beware the local bus service although has many offeres aimed at walkers finishes at 4pm even on saturdays and local taxis although reasonable are few and far between. Would visit again
