Happy to say that this site has made us re-think the sorts of parks we stay at. No, it is not the cheapest of sites but, it is immaculate, peaceful, clean and a joy to spend time at.
Upon entry late Sunday afternoon we were greeted at the barrier and escorted to our pitch by a friendly warden. The pitch was excellent - a corner super-pitch with mature hedge dividers, plenty of space for awning, separate eating area complete with site-supplied new hardwood picnic table, plenty of space for car and close to the amenities.
The pitches in this area were totally flat and fully serviced - electricity hook-up, water, grey water, digital tv connection (sat and aerial) plus a covered soil-pipe - a first for me, no trecks to the Elsan point! The grass was well kept and the ground firm not-muddy given we had plenty of rain.
The site has great facilities. The toilet blocks are large, heated and very clean. Plenty of urinals, toilet cubicles and four showers. The showers have a separate dressing area with a bench and hooks to keep everything dry. A pull-cord supplies piping hot water for maybe two minutes. Simply pull again to continue. We saw two such blocks both of a similar size - there may be more???
After pitching we walked to the Deer House pub and enjoyed good quality meal and a few drinks. The bar is family friendly and there is a separate snug off the bar for adults only. The bar looks out over the outdoor swimming pool and also the small children's play area behind the pool so no problems relaxing whilst the kids run around. The drink and food prices were fine. Although it is not an extensive menu there was enough choice that we were all able to enjoy a starter and main course.
The bar also has a couple of rooms next to it with table football, pool table and a couple of video games. It is a large bar and in peak season they do have entertainment on for the kids. We were there off-season when the bar closes on Monday and Tuesday. Still, we had some sunny evenings and enjoyed bbq at the van.
There is a lovely large duck pond and the ducks do like to wander the entire site scrounging scraps. We were maybe 200m away and they came to use daily en-masse for bread and were tame enough to eat from your hand.
We used the outdoor pool on the Monday and I'm glad to say the pool water is warm and pleasant to use (23 degrees the day we were there). It was colder running around wet outside the pool. The changing rooms have toilets and showers and were as clean as the rest of the park. There were a few sunbeds and chairs and I imagine it would be a lovely haven with better weather and a few more people around.
We didn't use the hotel spa, golf or restaurant facilities - I'm sure we will visit again.
We had two days out. One close by in Knaresborough to visit Mother Shiptons Cave and the second to Eureak in Halifax. Our visit to the cave went well with a pleasant couple of hours enjoying the walk and narration. The kids enjoyed the quiz sheets and won a chocolate bar. We enjoyed hiring a boat from Marigolds whilst the wife enjoyed a cold wine in the sun. The proprietors here are superb. Please say hello to Ron who spoils everyone with treat with their drinks, sun-cream - he even rowed me across the river from his mooring to rescue my car from the Mother Shiptons car park near closing time. A great character who made our day.
En-route to Knaresborough we stopped off and had lunch at Drakes Fish & Chips restaurant - superb value, quality and service. If you're passing do stop.
Eureka in Halifax was about an hours drive away (each way). It's a dated attraction now but happy to say my kids liked it. Next visit we'll stay close and visit Brimham Rocks and the steam railway at Elby.
Also close to the site is a large Sainsbury store were we stocked up daily for our bbq.
Back to the site, there are plenty of seasonal tourers but everyone has lots of space and lots of privacy. The whole park has wifi. Reception is open all day and has friendly staff with good tourist advice. The shop next to reception is well-stock with provisions and camping equipment but is open limited hours off-season.
We planned to stay for two nights but extended to three as were so content with the site. There is no road or traffic noise whatsoever. Our kids enjoyed safely cycling around and playing football with a few other friendly kids.
We've only been caravanning a couple of seasons now and our kids generally pull us to sites with evening entertainment - kids disco, characters, large arcades etc. After visiting Rudding Holiday Park, it has made us realise what caravanning is really about - quality family time. We went on from Ruddings to Flamingoland which ok is a different type of holiday, but it spelled out to us that in future we will be searching for more sites like Rudding Holiday Park.
A great park that we hope to return to later in the high-season.

This is a very large site, with areas dedicated to statics, seasonal tourers, tourers and tents. When we went, we had a pitch in a line of tents and vans.
Plenty of room, excellent site layout. Plenty of safe space for kids to play - we hardly saw ours in the entire stay. There is very little that can be faulted with this site - some may not like its sheer scale but there was no sense of being crammed in, as there is with some sites.
The outdoor pool wasn't open (too early in the year) but I'd imagine that would be a popular attraction in itself.
Can't fault the place. Will be back.

On the plus side, excellent facilities (showers etc), good sized pitch, generally clean & well kept, Deer House pub served good fresh food.
On the downside, its a bit pricey, kids play area a bit inadequate, rules not enforced, with a lot of noise into the night & the site resembled a car park with areas that could otherwise be used for the kids to play, blocked by cars.
Most seriously though, there were campers who insisted on having open fires & fire pits by their tents. Sparks were flying & a clear fire hazard. I phoned security but got voicemail - I left a message but got no response & nor was the issue dealt with. That is a big black mark for me.
We also had a problem with people 'exploring' round our tents & gazebo in the night - this may have been due to our location near the golf club with open access from outside.
This could be a great site & I'm not surprised by the positive reviews, but these last couple of pints took the gloss off.

Just returned from 3 day break at Rudding Holiday Park. Had a very enjoyable stay with no problems. The site is very clean and well maintained, the shower and toilet blocks were spotless, (and FREE). There is a nice family pub on site which serves food and drink until around midnight. They also have entertainment on including kids disco, bingo, quizes etc. Staff on the reception are very polite and helpful. There is also a small shop selling all your basics, including alcohol.
Out and about you have Sainsburys which is around 1.5 miles away, and Harrogate centre is around 3 miles away. There is a bus stop smack outside the main gate, with a good bus service taking you to and from Harrogate. (Best to buy return ticket) If you do go into Harrogate for a drink, take plenty of money, as some of the bars are very expensive. (Pint of lager and bottle of cider - £8.50).
All in all, a very good well kept site. Not the cheapest but worth the extra premium. Not recommended if you don't like kids, as there are millions of them, and they are up running around very early! Only other niggle is the ground when hammering tent pegs in. I must have bent over half of my pegs as the ground is very stoney.

Not sure how this site gets a 5 star rating, facilities were poor, toilets, run down shower block, only 3 showers in our nearest block queues were long in the morning. Small pitches ( could reach out and touch next doors outfit ) We were booked in for 4 nights could only stand 2 nights then left. Its expensive £98 for caravan, 2 adults and 1 dog we don't mind paying this if site is immaculate but this one was not.
The grounds are vast but it has the smallest dog exercise area we have ever seen.

Very mixed feelings about this site. Has a beautiful setting in amongst some lovely mature trees and well manicured hedges, next to a fabulous golf course.
The toilets seem to be well cleaned and the friendly staff are keen to help. We booked in on a Thursday for 2 nights and were told there were very limited pitches left for a tourer with hook-up. On arrival we were taken to a pitch which was actually in the tent field.
We are very open minded about camping and families enjoying late night parties as long as they are separated from Tourers. There are people who wish to spend a quieter and more peaceful holiday and don't want to listen to shouting and partying until two in the morning.
Also the waste removal truck came past at 7.45am to empty the huge amount of rubbish which was lying around in the waste deposit area, making little or no attempt to keep the noise down.Had we been told at first we would have to pitch in the tent field we would have looked elsewhere, though I am sure there are some better pitches elsewhere on the park had we booked earlier.
Finally, value for money.Must be said that this park is over-priced by some distance for having to endure late night partying.£59 for two nights is way too much. Sadly we will not be revisiting this Park unless they find some way to keep the noise segregated away from the main tourer pitches.

Just got back from rudding park, it was our 3rd visit and just as good as always.
The park was immaculate as was the showers and toilets. The deer house pub was good value and the food reasonably priced and of good quality.
We did not use the pool but did use the golf complex which was very good.
The footy field needs updating (the goal nets had more holes than net.And the ground was a bit bare.
Since our last visit the lodge development seems to have eaten into the park.
The lake was fenced off for lodges so we couldn't feed the ducks.
I hope this isn't going the way of many campsites in the lakes and reverting to a lodge/ caravan site only.
Overall very good recommended.

Just returned from a week long stay.
Plus
* Nice location, I like the way the site is sectioned off with hedges can make it more private.
* Not far from attractions, visited Eureka which was good. Visit the cafe in the Ripon Spa Park its great and very reasonable all homemade cakes etc
* Pub food was quite reasonable and food was very good, we enjoyed two meals here.
* pool was ok, though I expect it would be very busy in peak times.
* Showers/toilet blocks were clean and there was plenty (don't know what it would be like in peak season). Shut the blocks for cleaning, though one is available when the other is shut. Could do with updating though
* The staff were all very pleasant.
* Play field was ok (football net & basketball hoop), the advantage of the pitch was we could watch our son from it. The field is full of holes though.
* Shop was open for a limited time (during hols I expect longer hours of opening) and stocks the basics you will need. There is a large Sainsburys just down the road.
Minus
*Pitches are small, where given one to share with caravan (21 I think) way too small for both of us, so we ended up on another one, which was quite big, but was full of holes not very good under foot (no 20)
*Showers in the main block are way too powerful, hurts your skin and they are too hot (well for us they were) and you cannot adjust temp. Not suitable for kids really, prepare to get wet when showering young children.
* No family bathroom (bath in mens and one in ladies and sink in other block with changing table area). This was a nightmare as it really needed two of us. Take a jug then you can wash babies / childs hair easier as no shower attachment in bath area. I would honestly take a baby bath or seat.
* Was noisy on Saturday night with people coming from the pub, we were the end so on the main route to / from the pub.
* The playground is way too small and not much in it, two swings for toddlers, two swings for older children and a climbing frame, slide really only suitable for under 5. Need more stuff for the over 5's.
For the facilities I think it is expensive and we have stayed at other sites which have better facilities at a cheaper price. Perhaps will return as not far from home but not during peak time.

Stayed here Friday 2nd July until Sunday 4th July, our 2nd visit to this site. On arrival, we got there before our friends who had booked separately, we hadn’t told them when booking that we would like 2 pitches together, spoke the very nice warden who shows you to your pitch that our friends would be here in about an hour and could be put us side by side, not a problem at all.
We do like this site but a few downsides, the wash up area is way too small for the site, only 2 sinks and people were queuing all the time. In my opinion they need more showers, only 3 in the block nearest us. Very noisy family just over the hedge with kids screaming and crying (not babies) arguing with parents until 1am, no consideration to anyone else around them. So much for the no noise rule after 11pm.
Found our pitch to be much smaller that some of the others and hubby was concerned our 6 berth tent would not fit on, but it did, just. You are not asked on booking what size tent you have just because our booking was for 2 people they must expect you to have a small tent. I will remember next time to ask for a larger pitch, yes we will go back although this is the most expensive site we have stayed at.
Very nice pub on site that has some sort of entertainment on a weekend, outdoor swimming pool and a shop on site selling most things. Easy access to Harrogate, where we spent the day on Saturday.
A good site just needs more facilities.
