We have been visiting Rudding Park for several years now and have just upgraded to a caravan. We find it is good value for money out of the high season.
On this occasion we were greeted by a new couple Tony and Sue who were a pleasure to deal with. They had a very pleasant manner with adults and children and allowed us to borrow a pair of ladders to retrieve a lost frisbee. When you are on holiday it makes a big difference when the staff are so friendly and accommodating.
I would have no reservation in recommending this site to anyone and I have previously mentioned it to several of our friends to pay a visit.

Great site, great staff, everything you could wish for. Had a hiccup with double booking, but it was last minute same day as arrival, in fact still sorted as we arrived with no fuss
Warden and receptionist were very friendly.
The whole site is well maintained throughout. Shower block clean warm and great showers plenty of hot water without having to keep pressing button.
Will def be going back very soon with grandchildren next time.
Plenty to see in the area too. The manager was on hand to see to a little problem with hookup. All in all great.
Only fault we had to come home to reality again

Nice site very clean and well laid out pitches are little on the small side, lots to do in the surrounding areas, nice pubs and plenty places to eat within a short drive.
The down side to this site is I think it is very expensive when they start putting all the extras on - £3 for a dog, absolute disgrace and this is another site that charges you for using an awning even though you have a designated pitch.
Would I return ? sorry there are other sites nearby that match this that do not rip you off.

Had a great visit to this site in October 2011 during an Indian autum was very lucky. The facilities were excellent lots of separate blocks to use evenly spaced around the site. The site shop was again really handy good to have on hand and also the on site pub which was really well ran and good food. A little disappointed the pool closed so early in the season as its heated I'm sure the kids wouldn't mind. The kids park was again well placed on the site opposite the pub !

I am writing this review 4 months after our visit but was determined to remember to do a review because our stay at Rudding Park was excellent!
When we arrived we were greeted with a smile and all the staff we met were friendly and helpful. We stayed in one of the holday lodges. It was warm and cosy, immaculately clean and well furnished. Lovely location by the lake and the ducks were endlessly entertaining!
The grounds are well maintained and the on-site pub serves good food if you don't fancy self catering. There is even a small cosy part of the pub where children are not allowed for those who want peace and quiet.
Little shop was quite sparsely stocked but a large Sainsbury's is not far away so not really a problem.
Good value for money compared with hotel prices in Harrogate area and I would definitely recommend it.
Many thanks for a lovely break.

Just returned from a 2 day midweek stay at Rudding Park. We went as three families and the Warden was very friendly and accommodating, finding us three pitches together in a square.
We took advantage of the 2 nights for the price of 1 midweek offer, so for £16 per night, I'd say it is ok value, but I'd feel begrudged paying full price for it.
The site is clean and the facilities are well maintained. We went in the pool twice but it was a little busy (I can imagine it being too busy at weekends). The playground is fine for little ones but I can agree with others that there's not much for bigger kids. The pub did serve pretty good food at a great price.
We found that the pitches were a bit on the small side. Fitting a Vermont L with a side extension was a real squeeze and left to no room for the car, which had to encroach onto the next pitch (luckily, no-one pitched there).
I'd also advise taking hard ground pegs, as the ground does get hard when you hammer an inch in. One of our party was given a pitch with a lamp-post on it which lit up their tent all night, making it hard to sleep. If I've anything good to say about the pitches - they are all very level.
We took a day trip into Knaresborough, which is only about 15 minutes away. It would probably take less time than that if Harrogate wasn't one big traffic jam. We went to Mother Shipton's Cave. The place had a massive entrance and looked like it was going to be something worth visiting.
It really is marketed as a theme park attraction. We paid £16 to get in and basically all that is in there is a climbing frame, some teddies and shoes hanging from string; and a dent in a rock. I don't think I've ever felt more ripped off. If you're ever in this neck of the woods, this 'attraction' is one to give a very wide body swerve.
Would I come back to the site? At £32 per night, no way. At £16? Unlikely but maybe. It just doesn't have that much charm about it that would make me want to go there again.

Just had a great weekend at this site great location, site was well maintained, but feel there wasn't enough showers on site the queues for showers was shocking but there's 2 showers blocks with 3 showers in each for the whole site and it is a large site.
The children's play area facilities was excellent great pub on site but we didn't eat here so not sure what the food was like.
You had to book for the pool which we didn't know until we arrived.
The shop was very well equipped I would go back but only for a weekend due to the shower facilities.

Just returned from a weeks stay from Rudding Park. Initial impressions were very good, friendly, quick check in. Helpful warden directing to pitch.
The site is a lot larger that we thought loads of seasonal tourers and statics. My children made good use of the heated outdoor pool but thought a charge of £2. 75 for 1half hour session was pricey! The food in the pub was lovely homemade grub!
The playpark was very disappointing for the size of the site not suitable for 5Yrs + very small! Glad to get back home to a bit of peace and quiet.
We wouldn't visit this site over a weekend far to busy with large groups which I found quite disturbing and so did my children who couldn't sleep!
The facilities were 'ok' room for improvement considering the price per night. Great location 5min drive to Harrogate - large Sainsburys literally round the corner.

Been to Rudding park few times but at £35 a night and pay for pool seems over priced! Toilets were dated and not the cleanest. The warden was very helpful. The club house had live band on sat eve which was a pleasant evening, nice clubhouse the play area which we didn't use was equipped well, but was next to the pool area. The pitches are good size. We did ask if was ok to leave late Sunday no problem we didn't leave till 530pm at no extra charge. The shop is very limited. Not sure at price would return !

Our aim in selecting this type of holiday was so that we can enjoy it with our 4 dogs. For those dog lovers out there reading this, be strongly advised to look elsewhere. This site is not dog friendly - they will merely tolerate the presence of your dog as a way of drawing in more paying customers. You will be expected to pay extra per dog per night for this tolerance.
Given that the dogs have to pay to get in, one might expect some facilities to be provided for them. These facilities consist of a couple of waste bins and a grotty piece of ground, smaller than the average garden, fenced off (presumably to keep the kids from harming the dogs) and called an Exercise area. Most of the entry fee is presumably spent on the vast numbers of signposts telling you what you and your dog are not allowed to do.
You can't even sit outside the pub with your dogs and eat one of their meals.
The staff are singularly unhelpful. Having made clear this last restriction, they didn't suggest any alternative pubs / restaurants locally that would allow dogs, nor did they offer to find us one. This is not due to a lack of such - we found one on the first night a couple of miles away (Harrogate Arms) that was more than welcoming to us an d our family and gave us a really good meal.
To be fair, the pitch was well drained and the toilet / shower facilities were adequate, even though the time-switched showers are irritating when they cut out every couple of minutes. The ice-block freezing facility isn't very efficient, unless you leave them there for more than 24 hours.
It is best to avoid this location during the Great Yorkshire Show as it is right on top of the showground and a wrong turn out of the park will find you in an impassable queue.
