A review that is mixed really, the review of this site is from the worst week of weather I can remember in August for prolonged heavy rain so it somewhat gives a view from a wet vacation.
Arriving on site there are 2 entrances one for the park one for the golf club, naturally I took the wrong one and had to reverse inside the lodge park and go back out and round. This is not signposted.
Good start so far. We booked a hard standing pitch for the break as we have a large twin axle outfit. The pitch was very very narrow and poor. The ground is merely hardcore (sandy rubble) and tight. We put the wheels level on one side with the perimeter and when we put the awning up we had no room left what so ever. The problem with this is the pitches have a block paving surround to them that is bedded on concrete. When you try to put the pegs in its not possible, so we had to revert to stretching the awning to the grass area and then plastic tent peg the straps to the soft ground. Now the family next to us had exactly the same problem as did someone further down. It caused a problem when the heavy wind and rain came the awning next to us blew down and the family next to us had a partial collapse (maybe not the pitches fault but they did not help???).
The grass on site around the pitch was very long and made for a wet week even wetter as there was no run off, the pitches got very muddy and boggy due to the way the site is positioned, again so much rain I cant blame the park however more drainage would of stopped the inch of water from running through our awning.
The toilet blocks considering the level of mud and rain were fairly clean, hot water with a powerful shower, however no mop to clean the shower after using it was missed as mud and crud from your shoes would be waiting for the next person. There are plenty of cubicles and showers.
The site has a very nice family bar with a snug area, serves decent food and the bar staff are very friendly. The bar has a games room that frankly is rubbish, a little investment would not be missed although the kids enjoyed it so maybe a suggestion would be to get some new games for the kids. New pool table in the close future. Outside the bar is a beer garden that looks onto the kid’s playground which is fine. The playground itself is adequate for little ones only. The swimming pool is ideal for kids aged 6 upwards we though it was a little to big for ours as they are only learning to swim so no complaints it seemed nice enough.
What I will comment are the 2 main points of this park one is the level of rubbish that piled up in the tent / touring grass pitch area dustbin section. This was emptied on the Friday but was full on the Wednesday and overflowing. As it was close to the duck pond one could only assume vermin would be present with the level of waste not disposed of properly. Secondly the security barrier was always up meaning you could drive on get a van, tent etc and then drive off. This did not happen but a casual attitude to security (unless they were monitoring).
If we had visited in warmer, sunnier days with shorter grass better and wider hard standing area would we have enjoyed it more? We would say yes, would we go back soon? No! If these little problems were rectified would we revisit someday? Then yes. It’s not the best site we have been to and we expected a lot more however all in all it was an okay place to visit.

Recently had a two night stay here, and must admit disappointed for the price they charge. The toilets & showers were dirty, with no toilet paper or soap in the ladies. However, hubby said the mens was fine we managed to catch the warden to advise and give him his due soap & loo paper put in toilets v. Quickly.
Play park for kids good although a bit of a trek from our tent, couldn't let them go by themselves.
Didn't try the swimming pool, as v. busy but looked like everyone having fun.
The shop is well stocked, and re-froze iceblocks for free (just remember to put your initials on though).
Club house nice & clean, and food & service fine.

We were recommended this site from 2 of our friends who have tents But we were very disappointed.
When we arrived we had to choose a pitch in an area which was all tents. This was awful and noisy at night time as no one went to bed until 11ish. A lot of tents were there as groups. Even better!
The toilet blocks were ok. Dish washing could have been better.
Its a cheek having to pay extra for the pool as the price for the site is very expensive. The kids only used it the once and that wasn't because of the weather.
They have table tennis in the deer pub but you can't get on. There was no time limit and you just have to hope the people on have had enough. When we were there the same kids were on all day and every day!
The food in the deer pub was excellent. And there is a small fenced off area where you can let your dog off lead. The kids liked the playing field best with a goal post and a basket ball hoop.
I think I would have liked this site if I was in a tent or if the caravans were kept separate but for the price we won't go back again.

We booked a two night stay for 25th & 26th July, when we arrived we were immediately taken to our pitch (very spacious size) and began setting up. During the course of the afternoon the area we were in began to fill with tents, caravans and motor homes.
We went over to the Deer House for a drink in the early evening and returned to our tent around 9. 00pm. It was very noisy due to the large numbers there but we assumed that around 10. 30 - 11. 00 pm this would quieten down (this has generally been our experience on other sites) however this is not the case at the site and the noise did not die down until 12. 45am.
Our observations next morning confirmed that in general this site was packed full of groups with between 4 & 8 tents/caravans/motor homes together in one location. The site seem to accept large groups so if you're not into that kind of thing don't go.
The facilities are ok though for the price you pay per night they could be far better. The Deer House pub was ok and the food prices/portion size seemed reasonable (can't comment on the quality as we did not eat there).
The plus side is the staff were extremely helpful and obliging and other peoples lack of respect is not the Managements fault.

We have been going to this camp site for over 10 years, and have seen it steadily decline over the last couple of years. The toilet/shower blocks were brillant up until a few years ago and are now showing their age and are in need of repair. The campsite overall has everything you would need, but they seem to have no problem in letting groups of rowdy youngsters pitch their tents and run riot
Needless to say to these problems are spoiling what was a really nice campsite, because this was not an isolated incident.

Three families of us arrived late friday night. After been welcomed by a friendly receptionest we were told to wait of Gerard to show us to the pitch. Gerard found us an ideal spot for all three tents. The view was second to none. Our elecctrics would not reach the tent, Gerard brought us and extention. Later my son realised he had forgotten his gas bottle. I went to reception, the receptionist kindly phone Gerard whom came straight away and obtain a gas bottle. The next day we went to thank the staff. Gerard offered my husband a the lend his golf clubs. The shower and toilet block were clean and warm. The site is well layed out with good ameanaties. The Deer House warm friendly. If the weather had been kinder we would have used the swimming pools, they were clean. We will be visiting rudding Park again soon. Thank you Gerard and team.

From entering the site the staff at Rudding Park could not have been more friendly. Gerard met us to show us our pitch, he was the most helpful man you could have ever have met. We arrived late on the site and found that we had forgot to pack our gas bottle he went and got a lend of one straight away for us. Nothing was a bother to him. The site is well laid out and immaculate, the showers and toilets were clean and warm with plenty of hot water. We chose the worst weekend in June to visit the site but we had a weekend we will remember with fond memories. We will be visiting the site in the not too distant future.

Just got back from two nights at this site, our first visit. The site was well laid out and we were able too choose our own pitch, but it was quite busy and as the grassed areas are used by both caravans and tents we felt a bit hemmed in. The layout of the grassed area is also quite structured; we prefer just pitching in a field as it gives the feeling of more space but can imagine that the structured layout would be a plus for some people. The site was very well taken care of and very green, with plenty of trees, bushes, etc and ducks and other birds wandering about.
The shop was small but seemed to stock a good range of items and the toilet blocks were quite basic but the showers were hot and we never had to queue.
The on site pub was quite nice and not too pricey, though there were only two cubicles in the Ladies': the light didn't work in one, leaving you in total darnkess, and there was no toilet paper in the other. I put this down to the fact that it was Saturday night and they were busy but it was the same on Sunday afternoon when we popped in for a game of pool! The pub was attached to the outdoor pool which was small but the kids on the site seemed to enjoy it. Some of the teenagers on the site congrgate on the football field near the pub and we got the impression that those that were there on the Saturday night had been left to their own devices by their parents: they were quite noisy and the next morning we saw staff clearing bottles from the grass where they had been.
We tried the Clocktower restaurant at Rudding Park which was nice but quite expensive. We were lucky enough to have great weather and spent a day in Harrogate, which is lovely, and one at Brimham Rocks; this is a brilliant place if you like walking/climbing but take sturdy shoes as you won't be able to resist leaving the path and climbing over the rocks!
We enjoyed our stay at this site but our one real complaint was the price: we realise that sites charge extra for electric pitches but all of the pitches here are electric, so for people like us that don't use it £26.50 per night is a bit too much! We have been on other sites where we have been given an electric pitch but have been charged a lower rate for not using it so its a shame they don't do that here as the price probably puts some people off.
